I just had to reach out and tell you how much I adore your White DG335 guitar project. It's seriously amazing! The amount of time and effort you must have put into it is mind-blowing, and the end result is beyond words. That stunning white color you achieved through sanding and painting is absolutely rad. It's like having Dave Grohl's guitar right in front of me! I wanted to take a moment to express my sincere appreciation for your incredible talent and for sharing it with all of us. Keep doing what you're doing and keep on rocking!
That was amazing! Thanks Jeej! Appreciated you documenting the entire process and venturing into this project. I have the same blue DG as yourself and this did cross my mind. My heart sank too when you showed the broken headstock and could feel your pain at every hurdle. But you demonstrated great tenacity and patience and it shows in the finish. Great work and look forward to your next video
I loved that you showed all the things that can go wrong. Helps others watch out for it all. Sorry that it happened to you, but at least you’ve protected the rest of us from a broken guitar neck. Thank you for your hard work showing the entire process!
I know this is an older video but i just wanted to say that i was surprised when i saw your current sub count! This video is extremely well put together and the storytelling aspect is great. I'm sure the numbers will come soon if you are able to keep this level of skill in your videos. Again, great job on the video, and on the guitar 👍
Dude huge props on this!! I would've just thrown in the towel after the headstock break so it was awesome to see you take it in stride and keep pushing forward!!
You did the project I tried to do twice unsuccessfully (I saw a White 355 and wanted to do it to a DG-335 kit about 3 or 4 years ago)… congratulations, I am sure everyone would love to do something like what your doing.
I've been looking forward to this since seeing the TikTok you posted about it. Seems I'm late to the party by a couple of weeks, but glad to have watched it. When the part came with the cord hanging and no guitar, I knew what we were about to see, but didn't stop me from feeling a bit of that pain for you. Great job on the repair. At first, I was really hoping you'd redo the binding in black, but I actually ended up really digging the color of the binding against the white. As for the bit of black bleeding through or the bits on the headstock that might stand out, you could also buy one of those car paint pens, or a posca pen, and fill in those spots, but I dig the bit of character it gives the guitar and how it speaks to the journey it's been on. Great work. Killer music in the background too.
Congrats on a job well done and an amazing video! Loved every second of it, really happy it showed up on my feed. Although that headstock break will give me nightmares tonight!
Looks GREAT! If someone is picking out the flaws on the looks, they're too close & too critical. You changed the finish, be proud of that! It's a DG-335 with your touch.
First of all awesome job on the finish and repair, I would have died when the headstock popped off. That guitar looks great and is going to keep looking cool as you start to wear through the white finish and the old black starts to show up. I've been wrapping my guitars in that automotive vinyl. they have get some interesting finishes.
Be awesome to see some clips of the band !! Nice work, doing the same at the moment, including head stock break, only thru through throwing another guitar across the room… Ah yes patience. Didn’t know about that. Anyway maybe I should do the same as.
Watching your video was awesome. I just finished my first DIY painting of a kit guitar and man I feel your pain. Took about a month in weather that only got to around 50 degrees. I did an SG style guitar which made it easier. I to will never paint another guitar. Oh and your head stock getting broken sorry but that made me go “OH No” then burst into laughter. Great video good luck. If you want to see how my paint job came out let me know and I’ll send you a pic. Happy jamming
I really like your honesty thru out the video. Definitely the guitar works for its purpose on the tribute stage to get played, bang on, sweat and dirt all over. Its just practical, like a prop. Cheers
You sir, are a legend! What an amazing undertaking- kudos to you! Even with the ‘hiccup’ you had - you persevered and ended up with a really really cool and almost unique guitar! I also have a chibson. Unfortunately mine pretty ropey and has intonation issues which puts me off advising people.on getting one. Why can’t Epiphone release an affordable version - they already have so many signatur models - I’m sure they’d clean up with a DG model. Thanks again for taking us on your insightful journey!!!
You did a good job, especially for someone who admitted they are a novice at it. The difference between you and me (and anyone else who's ever done this) is you filmed and broadcast your setbacks and ours were private. One piece of advice I would give anyone who is going to do a headstock repair is to give the glue several days to fully cure. If the finish goes on before it's fully cured, you can have some issues in the future. But everything is fixable if you have the time and desire.
23:17 Someone already said it but adding a bit extra. It is one thing to get the sound settings to match the original for Everlong. But getting that stroke pattern and touch just right to make it nearly indistinguishable from the original is just crazy
Remarkable transformation; really good effort on overcoming the unexpected challenge! I don't understand how anyone can get the electronics back into place with a 335 style guitar... I'm dreading the day I need to do work on mine.
Man, what a fun and daring project! I encountered the same challenge with a black guitar but didn’t dare to paint it. I solved it with buying white glass sticker (to cover a window, quite common in the Netherlands) at the hardware store and put it on top of the front and headstock. Not as nice as a paintjob, but unnoticeable during playing.
If you get automotive pinstripe tape from auto one or advanced auto, it’s simple to tape off the binding and even easier to remove after paint. I did it with a Les Paul custom build I did and it looks wonderful
Great work man. Quick tip if you try this again, grab some hot water from your faucet and put your paint and clear coat in the water only submerged to the mid way point. The warm paint and clear coat will spray evenly.
I’m waiting for Epiphone to pull the trigger considering that we saw one in Dave’s hand already in NME magazine photo! The Emily Wolfe one looks great but with wrong headstock and inlays. So I’m keeping my fingers crossed for something very soon! I love the white, black, and gold versions, not so much on the Pelham blue. Great video! I felt so bad about the headstock break. UGH!
When it comes to building and finish guitars, in my beginning experience if it can go wrong it will go wrong. Good for you for documenting this process. For me, I would have kept the black guitar and bought a white Chibson. But then again, I get attached to my guitars the way I got them.☺☺☺
Saw the bikes in the garage I've got an old Gary Fisher that I always thought would totally look great with EVH black and yellow stripes. I'll keep you posted
The first ( and last) start from kit guitar project was a dg335 copy using all the Gibson spec parts. It was so fulfilling when it finally made sound. I look at it and say I did that. I thought I’d start out easy with a 335 wiring and painting project. I did smile when I was done. And it sounds half way decent. But look forward to getting a real one maybe some day. Hello Epiphone. :)
I really hope Epiphone actually does come out with a Dave Grohl signature. I think there's a photo of Dave holding a Epiphone thats out there and I really cant wait.
hey man! it looks GREAT! you talked about the pain of putting in potentiometers in a hollow body like this and I have a tip for that! silicone tubing! like surgical tubing and such, slip it over the knob of the pot an you can pull it though ALOT easier. not easy but a ton better 😁😁
Parabéns, ficou muito bom, das minhas DG 335 a Preta é a que mais gosto, a azul agora esta aposentada por estar com autógrafos dos FF, só tenho usado a Gold 335 agora Congratulations, it turned out very well, from my DG 335 the black one is the one I like the most, the blue one is now retired because it has autographs from the FF, I've only been using the Gold 335 now
Hey Man great job with that paint job. I have actually did a paint job on a replica explorer I made from scratch. The paint was by far the hardest thing to do. So I feel your pain. question where did you buy the Japanese Gibson DG guitar from? I am looking to buy one as well. Thank you
I started this project about a week after the “preparing music for concerts” live stream. By the time I finished this, the counterfeit sites were finally getting around to making the white ones
So RAD...I have 2 copies as well and Im going to paint one of mine white too. Thanks for the inspiration. Are you going to put another slide decal on? (Wink, wink).
I was considering trying to find someone to make me a custom decal that says "But Here We Are" in the same font they used for the album. I'll have to look into custom waterslide decal makers!
Having the neck break made my heart drop but then at least you were able to see what kind of wood they used to make the chibson 🤷♂️ I mean how else would you have known?
Man, awesome job, and great video. Word on the street there’s a Gibson reissue and an Epiphone DG335 coming soon! Do you mind if I ask what camera you use? Your talking shots looks great and I’m trying to get into doing some videos of my own.
Great work all around. Refinishing is a long process. Someone once told me that guitar building is 90% sanding. The other 10%...also sanding.
Hahahaha😆
L O L. That's why my work never looks so good. And I thought replace the junk stuff with better parts. I didn't sand them enough.
Having build several instruments I confirm the statement.
Damn that Everlong tone was spot on, great video !!
This could be my favorite DIY guitar video ever. It’s the personality and the attitude that’s really makes it a winner. Great job.
At 17:40 you say, "But, here we are." Nice touch.
😉

Good job man, my heart honestly broke for you at the neck break scene!! 🤘♥️🤘
This guitar will look amazing after a few years, when you get some natural wear and tear slowly reveling the black underneath. Great job!
That was amazing! Thanks Jeej! Appreciated you documenting the entire process and venturing into this project. I have the same blue DG as yourself and this did cross my mind. I relate so much to the frustration you feel whenever doing something and every possible unfavorable outcome ends up happening.

The biggest congrats to you taking on this project! Not only you took on a big task but you overcome sudden road blocks and come out on top.
That was a nice and so atmospheric journey. Thanks for vid! Also, bg music is sooooo badass and it gets right in the spot of the video. Keep it man!
You did the project I tried to do twice unsuccessfully (I saw a White 355 and wanted to do it to a DG-335 kit about 3 or 4 years ago)… congratulations, I am sure everyone would love to do something like what your doing.
Cool guitar, way mega jelly.
Nice job J...I used to have that exact spray "booth" setup in my garage :) That fall and headstock break would have sent me over the edge. :)

This video definitely earned a sub. Well done!
Hey man, this turned out great! Live the look, looking forward to seeing you play it in your videos
Great video, great journey, and great job, thanks for sharing!

This was so awesome to watch, amazing job and loved the really honest coverage of it all! Looks (and sounds) great

This was lovely to watch!
Great job man, congrats!
Great job, I think I'll stick around and see what you got. Really, good work, great attitude.
Not surprised the janky hanging setup went wrong but you got the repair job done and finished the project! Solid work
What a great video! I would love to hear your band but the link doesn't work...
Look up Fresh Fighters - Foo Fighters tribute
nice work, as a woodworker, guitar player and maker i love making guitars and finishing process is the hardest but so worth it!
Very nice!Love your video editing style.
Step 3 is like a life lesson. Thx man!
Great job man! And awesome video. Thinking about doing this to my Fender Starcaster. Right now it’s sunburst but I want to make it white.
Maaaaan you are so brave, really good job. I can imagine myself throwing away everything after the neck “issue”. You are a Hero.
Awesome job man! Well done
Great stuff, man! You earned a new subsriber.
You sir, are a legend! What an amazing undertaking- kudos to you!

Great video JEEJ! It turned out great!
Yo I got so sad seeing that broken headstock. Happy it got fixed ❤
23:17 Someone already said it but adding a bit extra. It is one thing to get the sound settings to match the original for Everlong. But getting that stroke pattern and touch just right to make it nearly indistinguishable from the original is just crazy
Pro-tip: play it with your fingernail, not a pick!
the cool thing about the black being underneath the white finish (to me) is that as you play it more it'll start to wear. which is gonna look awesome.
THATS GONNA LOOK SO COOL OMG
Very nice. Didn’t know what to expect after that neck break, but it all looks very good.
This is a great what not to do video on how to paint a guitar. Went right in on the hand sanding I knew it was gonna be bad 😂
It's gonna look sick as it relics, with the old black poking through!
Thats amazing man, came out really cool. And the scars make his caracter
cool video enjoyed watching it!
dude, that was cool, admirable how you overcame that broken headstock
Remarkable transformation; really good effort on overcoming the unexpected challenge! I don't understand how anyone can get the electronics back into place with a 335 style guitar... I'm dreading the day I need to do work on mine.

When I saw the Josh Freese video release, I instantly thought of you because of the white DG 335.
Great work man. Quick tip if you try this again, grab some hot water from your faucet and put your paint and clear coat in the water only submerged to the mid way point. The warm paint and clear coat will spray evenly.
I now terribly want a Chibson version myself to make it my own...I need to know where to get my hands on one haha
UGH!
Great video
I discovered the best tool for scraping the binding. The blades from a Mikita style planer. Brilliant
Love the fact you did this... I would have just ordered a white Chibson.
That was soul crushing when that neck broke
When it comes to building and finish guitars, in my beginning experience if it can go wrong it will go wrong. Good for you for documenting this process. For me, I would have kept the black guitar and bought a white Chibson. But then again, I get attached to my guitars the way I got them.☺☺☺
Mate I felt genuine pain when that headstock snapped off. Good fix though man you did a good job.
Great job dude I would have given up at the headstock break!
Got out the popcorn to see if Past JEEJ listens to Future JEEJ.
Not disappointed. ( decent results )
I’d like to think I did, at least more so than I would have, but sometimes the universe just throws you a curveball lol
I love this
I find adding a tinge of magenta toner brings out the pre breakup crunch. Avoid mustard, it curdles your trebbles.
Saw the bikes in the garage
I've got an old Gary Fisher that I always thought would totally look great with EVH black and yellow stripes.
I'll keep you posted

Where did you get the reproduction orange Gibson diamond hole
Sticker?
Where does one find a decent chibson dg?
WOOOP!!!!
What a mission. Well done bro.

What’s ur amp and pedal settings for everlong?
I have a question for you. What would you recommended for pickups or hardware to change. I also have a DG335 copy
Parabéns, ficou muito bom, das minhas DG 335 a Preta é a que mais gosto, a azul agora esta aposentada por estar com autógrafos dos FF, só tenho usado a Gold 335 agora

Good shit. We ever going to get Part 3 of the FF Guitars?
Dave’s looks pretty matte white to me, but this also looks great!
Just saw them live last week: can confirm it’s gloss white
@@JEEJ_MUSIC ah good to know
Amazing video, the ups, the downs, the music! Awesome man. Now you're just missing a gold DG335 :P
So, what's the diff between this and the Trini Lopez hollowbodies?
can you tell where are you buying the copies
Are you getting the new epiphone blue one?
How do these Chinese copies hold up?
I’m struggling to come up with the money for the epiphone dg335 even.
Still waiting for the part 3 of foo fighters guitars!
10:30 the way my jaw dropped from just seeing the rope and hook
Edit: oh well at least the chibson has a more authentic Gibson headstock now
hey! your fresh fighters link isn't working. wanted to check you guys out :)
What pickups are in it? Are those the ones it came with or did you put a burstbucker in like your Pelham blue DG-335.
Highly entertaining 😂
Can you please do a tutorial on rescued?
Hey Man great job with that paint job. I have actually did a paint job on a replica explorer I made from scratch. The paint was by far the hardest thing to do. So I feel your pain. question where did you buy the Japanese Gibson DG guitar from? I am looking to buy one as well. Thank you

@@JEEJ_MUSIC I could probably help and make a vinyl die cut sticker for you but not a water slide. Let me know. Id be glad to help
Music is Killer!!!
See what Kirk Hammett said about why it’s a blessing to have a Gibson that’s had it’s headstock snapped off and reattached
Having the neck break made my heart drop but then at least you were able to see what kind of wood they used to make the chibson 🤷♂️ I mean how else would you have known?

It’s just a Canon Rebel SL3 with the stock 18-55 kit lens that came with it!
