Those tuners look sweet and that Explorer looks soo much better now.

Best thing to do with the pick guard is make a template of the one you have out of 12mm mdf, get a sheet of whatever colour pick guard material you want and use a pattern router bit, cut it and then go round with a chamfer, or small radius bit. Copy the screw holes and done!

EXACT same problem with Fender Custom Shop and C&G cases - garbage quality clasps - same problem.

Not all vintage and retro is better. Sometimes vintage retro looks on parts improved by experience is more better. Not everything can be as perfect the first time as split post safety tuners.

I just bought a new Custom Shop Gibson and got the same crap case. Even brand new the cases are shit. I prefer the 90’s Gibson case or the chainsaw.

IMO, I’d rather see the custom shop models come in flight cases/pelican cases. Something that’s bombproof.

Gibson is riding the line of needing historically accurate style latches on historic cases. So yes they DO look like they should. They're basically cosmetically exactly like my early 60s and 50s cases. That said they are cheaply made and bend. So if they don't put them on the cases people gripe about accuracy. But yeah, I've learned to hold the lid toward my body and a finger on it just in case.

Just contact Gibson rep/customer service, I have 2021 Murphy lab ES-355 that had a case that kept closing with the ribbon being loose. I shipped them my case and they assessed it and sent me a brand new one. Of course you do have to b the original owner with proof. I sent them my invoice/receipt and they sent me a free label and brand new case. Easy

On the cheaper replicas the horn extends to the 13th fret making the horn appear WAY too long, while on an actual Gibson, the horn only extends to between the 14th and 15th fret. So, if anyone is shopping for an Explorer replica, ensure the horn matches the length of the Original.
