I bought the Epiphone DG335 a couple of months ago... The first time I opened the case I was so excited; I'm really happy with it. I can imagine how happy you are! Congratulations!!! Enjoy it!!

The color is a striking difference, and the binding in the sound holes adds so much. Im glad you found an epic guitar. I like a chunky neck and acoustically the chibson held a win to me. I just got a pearl Epiphone Wildkat as i was magnetically drawn to it through three sessions over a month in the guitar store. That feeling of finding a right one is so great. It was a feel thing... And looks, and sounds. Hands on though i got to sense its mojo. I wouldnt part with it for 10x what I paid.
So glad you finally got one man. Gonna keep this “trick” in mind in case I ever happen to have a large sum of money to blow on a guitar! Really enjoy your videos. 👍
I commented on your post when you posted on reddit about getting this guitar. That shop's not far from me and if I had known I would have sprinted down there to get it. Makes it even worse knowing it has the thinner neck profile as my only complaint about the Epiphone is the thick neck. Beautiful guitar. Enjoy it. Love it. Congratulations!
Once you play Custombuckers, your ears get spoiled. I always liked my Burstbuckers but after I got my first Les Paul and 355 with Custombuckers, I have seen the light. That is a beautiful guitar you got there. You deserve it. Thanks for sharing
Congratulations Dude! I live in Brazil and here any Gibson is expensive :( I'm very happy for you man! In my case, for a while I'm still playing with my DG-335 CHIB haha Obviously that have differences but still sounds good and brings the feel of DG on stage for people! Let's Rock!
What a great guitar, congratulations! I am a lucky owner of an original DG335 (2007 first run) and I wish mine had this biding at the Diamond holes, looks super cool! I think you made the right choice with that one, original is a very similar instrument if not for the pickups and neck. And it’s your very own guitar, not an artist signature. The color seems a bit different on mine but this guitar never has the same color depending on illumination. I really feel you when you mentioned the issue with the post office, I once got a 1965 Fender Jazzmaster sent back from France to the states just because it sat for too long at the post office (delivery guy didn’t bother leaving a delivery notice). I need to watch your comparison with all the DG model, I will probably learn a lot about my own guitar! Cheers!
Yesterday I watched your video you put in the intro. So happy for you. I bought my dream Epiphone Alex Lifeson Les Paul Custom it’ll arrive tomorrow can’t wait. I was thinking AL one or DG335 but after your video I picked AL and I hope I’ll be happy with it. Congrats man!
Congrats! Perfect Pelham blue… great dark fretboard. Custombuckers are awesome. I am surprised the actual DG has such a thick neck depth at the 1st fret. Play it in good health!
Dude! Your videos are always so much fun to watch and so well done. You got an absolutely killer guitar. If you ever send this one off, let me know, as that slimmer and narrower neck sounds right up my alley! I’m jealous!
Nice video, congrats on finally getting your dream* guitar (it’s been a good series to watch). I almost went the Chibby route, but ended up getting the Epiphone Shinichi Ubukata ES-355 on a great deal.
So excited and happy for you! I know finding a guitar you have always wanted can be the best feeling in the world. Are you going to play this guitar tomorrow at your show?
Hell yeah man! I was able to get my 2 dream gibsons this year both at great prices! Its the coolest feeling and Im glad you get to have that too! I love your playing and would love to collab sometime!
Dang you got a deal! Such a good looking guitar. I'd pick up a Pelham blue 335 if I ever found one. For now I'll live vicariously through your experience.
Great Vid. I have really enjoyed your DG-335 journey and your documentation of it via UA-cam. I too went down the Chibson route before Epiphone did their relase - it really put me off counterfiet guitars 😞 Unfortuntely I was also dissappointed with the Epiphone - the neck ewas too think for me - sounds like you Gibson DG-335 would be my dream guitar! 🙂 So happy for you that you've manage to aquire your dream* guitar, I wish you many hours of joy playing it!
I’ve worked in logistics for 10+ years. All international shipments whether it was a $50 transaction or a $50,000 transaction I’ve always sent the shipment with not 1, not 2, but 3 copies of all of the customs paper work. One on the outside. Inside. And attached to the product itself.
Duude, I'm so happy for u! Never clicked on a video so fast 😂😂 I fully understand u, I also got my dream guitar this year, a schecter synyster gates, after 10+ years waiting for the right moment (this things are super expensive here in brazil) and I even bought the sustainiac and installed by myself, it was crazy tho 🤣🤣 but yeah, again, happy for u!
Congrats from someone who is originally from London, I agree Music City is a great music store. Congrats on the new axe and getting a Discount with the weak Canadian dollar right now :)
As a Canadian who orders from the US all the time: if it ships UPS I pass. They are absolutely horrendous on cross-border shipments. They take forever, charge a fortune on import duties without a miss and they often damage boxes.
I taught guitar to two of Taylor Hawkins cousins here in Mobile, Alabama. He would text them to see how they were doing, from wherever he was playing. We were all crushed when he passed.
my dream guitar was a univox hi flier but they never made leftie models, found harley benton and im so happy i did. i now have a prototype that was never built, a left handed univox style guitar with the same output pickups as the originals, i even changed capacitors on it to russian pio style.. ive never had a guitar that could play every style of music i could throw at it.. unreal when you find your dream guitar and get to enjoy it for a lifetime.
Dude, I am very happy that you finally found your dream guitar. I am in the same position, I am searching for a Fender Custom Shop Bass for a few years now, but I know it will happen at some point. My question to you is: Will this new Gibson be your nr. 1 main guitar that you will bring to all the gigs? Or are you hesitant to bring such an expensive and precious guitar with such a nice story to gigs in the rain? Because I think a lot about that, even before owning one...
Very nice, dude! I am a broke musician and couldn't afford the Gibson. I bought the Epi and I love the sound. I did make some changes. I added volume/tone indicators like Gibson has, and I switched out the tuners for Grover Locking Mini Rotomatics. I just prefer locking tuners. The finish is okay, but I'm sending it off to a friend of mine who is amazing at refinishing guitars and offered to repaint it. So I was thinking about what I wanted to do and I saw a Custom Shop Gibson Trini Lopez with a silverburst finish on Reverb and fell in love with it. So that's what I'm going to do, and he's going to clear it with nitro.
-You may be able to clean up some of the clip on tuner spot and stand rash with naptha (lighter fluid)....Around 2005 I used it on a Les Paul from 1995 that had stand rash on the back of the neck and lower bout. After approx 5 applications over a 6 month period it was barely noticeable. After another year of keeping it in its case (no additional cleanings) it was totally gone..... This reinforces the fact the nitro finish does in fact "breath".
That is nicer than the DG335 imo. That one has the aged binding, which looks awesome with the Pelham Blue. I built a red Trini Lopez replica but put a Bigsby on it, which provides great break tension over the bridge.
Without playing it, the Chibson holds up really well. I think I prefer it but how fucking sick is the Trini!! It’s almost a piece of history. Something to play at home and the Chibson can get tossed around at gigs.
Nice song you played, the tone is so warm on the guitar while still being brite and crunchy, 😅something that I only dream of being able to do. I gotta get busy!
Nice Gibson - looks and sounds great - even via UA-cam - lots better than the copy. I like the vintage body style better. Congratulations - a lot to drop on a guitar, but a great move considering what the DG 335s go for - good tube.
I actually had Gibson build me a M2M version of the Shinichi Ubukata ES-355 (basically the DG-335 on steroids). They built so few they didn't realize I had them replicate an extremely rare custom shop guitar. I can't believe the neck profile of a DG-335 is .95" at the first fret. Are you sure?? That is unheard of. That's more like a 12'th fret depth. Sadly your .82" is very shallow. That would bother me. What is the nut width? And the price was so low I thought you were getting scammed. That is CHEAP for that guitar. Also, I've never seen a Trini RI with a stop tail. Very cool. Congrats.
That's cool, friend. Happy for you. My dream is also to have a Gibson DG 335, but it's almost impossible here in Brazil. que legal amigo. feliz por voce, meu sonho tbm é ter uma gibson DG 335, mas é quase impossivel aqui no Brasil.
I've long wanted a Dave Grohl Epiphone ES-335 for awhile now, waiting for them to release it in other colors - hopefully black? If not, then blue is fine, and besides the excellent neck it has Gibson burstbucker pickups!!
For anyone on the fence about buying a 1200 dollar epiphone.... DONT BE!! It feels like a buttery custom shop build. Gibson Burstbuckers, Malory Premium wiring harness a real nut and grover tuners. One of the best purchases this year.
Congratulations on finally finding it! I always thought Gibson missed a trick not releasing an olive drab Trini Lopez with a bigsby so there’s an RGB collection. The Chris Cornell always looked mega Red - Trapeze Blue - Stoptail Green - Bigsby Come on Gibson!
Are you gonna paint your Pelham Blue Chibson back to black now, so that you have a white, a black and a Pelham Blue? Also, what tuning are you keeping each guitar in?
It’s interesting that some people like Gibsons nitro. It may be different formulations but I think the nitro on my 23 Les Paul standard feels gummy and not nice.
I guess you could say that the Chibson is "The Pretender"
best comment!! : P
But it's so lonely now 😢 You need the green Cornell 335 to keep it company.. god is it beautiful
That CC 335 is a dream guitar for me. Such a shame he’s no longer with us
