- This off-season I have been in Hawaii to stay warm and keep practicing everyday. If you saw my off season routine video you know a lot of my practice is done at my cottage, but when I do go to the courses these are the ones! Gargoyles Garden is short and wooded and The Complex is mostly open with more long holes. Check this video out and let me know what you think of Hawaiian disc golf!

Paige poking at a tree with a stick foraging for supplies (discs, mangos and trail mix)… might be my favorite thing ever! Lol Paige you bring so much happiness to our family. We are about 2 months into disc golf and we watch you everyday! :)
Pro tip: keep a couple lacrosse balls in your bag. They're heavy enough where they hit a stuck disc well and also less likely to stick in the trees!

I keep 2 pool table balls in my cart for the exact same reason.
I have a baseball for said reasons.
Pro tip: arborist throw bag. Specifically designed to be thrown into a tree and easily removed.

I'm sure many have already said this, but the disc in the tree is classic. I've seen many variations of it before, but this had to be the funniest.
"Never throw another disc up..." proceeds to lose all of her snacks in the tree.

Learned this trick when Calvin did a in the bag , keep a slingshot in your bag with marbles, l use super balls works great for disc in trees.Great Video 😎👍🏻🥏

I remember when I was in Hawaii in 2007, Disc Golf was basically unheard of where I was visiting. Glad to see it is found its way there!
Another fun sound bit I thought was neat.. at 18:51 when Paige is describing the hype that the spotter gave on her ace, literally a rooster let a sound of joy and astonishment. Lol, why I notice these things..

Lesson here was always look for a long stick to get your discs from tall branches. Great to see the courses on the Island. Always Great putting.

Man, the course on Puna side is AMAZING tho! You play right next to the ocean along side cliffs of memory serves me right. It's been 8 years since I was out there but I remember the view was Serene 🌊

Local guy, Manila Dave, uses a measuring tape to get a lot of discs down. Doesn't always work, but usually. Stronger the tape, the better.

So I always carry a baseball for disc retrieval out of trees. Works great and is cheap enough that if it somehow gets stuck as well, you just leave it.

My son and I tried to play the Hilo Coffee Mill course a few years ago, but the "fairway" grass was literally 5 feet tall. We also played at the Naniloa Volcanoes Golf Course, but I think it's been pulled. I contacted Mike but he was busy and I didn't hear back in time to get to play it. It's on the list for the next trip out there.
By that time there will likely be another 18 on the west side too! Kahula!

I knew she was going to say the ace at Wickham Park in Hartford. I only knew she aced it because there is a sign thing that had her name on it and her name alone. I saw that the first time I played there and immediately thought "No way this thing was aced".

My friend said he played on one of the islands and they didn't have baskets. It was a metal tube in the middle like a bell. And next to the water was the course. You should try that.
Talk about Nirvana... So beautiful!! If they build a pro level course in Hawaii to have Pro Tournaments it would be epic!! Like playing Pebble Beach in regular Golf.. The course Disc Side of Heaven would have to give up their name for that course to have. Haha.
