@@Abagofchip as a 2 year disc golfer I am definitely running everything to get better. I don’t see why settling as even at the end of every round is an accomplishment. To each it’s own but I’m here to get better not settle for easy ups just to get a par at the end.

I actually like Brodie's scoober. It's like 3/4 running it and 3/4 laying up, because when he misses, it doesn't go very far away.
@@mal2ksc I've actually started using it, it is super helpful under certain circumstances.
@@Shadow-vd8ss Not everyone is going to have the touch to pull it off, he's much more accustomed than most to doing finesse things under pressure. But if you've got that ability, by all means, use it!
@@mal2ksc It helps that I play ultimate and am more familiar with that type of throwing style.

I think Jomez could only do this if at least one of the commentators was in that group. Otherwise they'd be wrong a lot. It's probably better not to commit to anything in writing in that case.
Are you actually a blind? Go back to any jomez video and look at up right corner under the course and par number. You will see disc names..

Awesome game, and I really can't wait to see that from Scratch to Scratch, but most importantly, thank you Paige for hosting the back 9, it was amazingly awesome. Truly the most fun doubles match I have seen this year.

Loving the addition of the disc thrown.
The first person should go for it, and if they miss and land in a good spot, the second person can go for it as well. If the first person misses and ends in a bad spot, then the second person can play safe.

Omg Paul thank you. His opinion on the lay up vs go for it thing is a huge pet peeve of mine. If even the layup shot is hard and the go for it shot is a huge risk in itself then sure, have the first person lay up since it is the play. But most of the time in my experience the lay up shot will be relatively easy for one of the partners. I think it is just the idea that the 2nd person will have pressure on them if the first person messes up. And I think that is just an attitude adjustment needed since it is clearly the better play to go for it first.
Death putt example: You are 50 feet from the basket and have a death putt. If you go for it and hit metal then there is a reasonable chance your disc will sit down anyways. Your partner can then also go for it. If you miss, they can just lay it up to 15-20 feet and you're all good...

I carried this dude in dubs 2 weeks ago and he was so competitive he could hardly talk to me because my drives were better, then he’d say awkward passive aggressive things about my shots. It was so annoying...I have one day off from work a week, I just ignored him because I don’t need that crap. I wish people would lighten up like Uli and Brodie...nothing wrong with being competitive but at least have some fun!
I feel you man! I only play once a week because of work and I have zero patience for assholes in this sport. I'm as competitive as anyone but we're fucking throwing frisbees. Have some fun with it!
That's unfortunate and could turn a new person off from playing if they had a douchebag like that as a partner.

Doubles Strategy depends the skill of the Players involved. You are all elite so I believe in Uli's plan of attack that both should be gunning for birdies and eagles at all times since all four of you can make 30' comeback putts etc. However in random draw doubles though it depends on skill levels/ratings. a few years back i was on vacation back home in Tucson when the TDGC announced Simon Lizzotte was passing through town from Phoenix and could everybody try and get out for random draw doubles at 4pm the very next day. Tucson came out indeed with like about 35-40 players joining up. It was an absolute pleasure watching Simon warm up throwing his putters like 450' on the soccer field in the middle of the park. Simon drew one of the beginner Ladies to play Groves "Monster" C Course which i myself wasn't familiar with. I drew Ryan Lyke who was one of Tucson's pros rated around 960-970 then. My job being an 890 golfer was on the long holes with tons of artificial OB and always throwing first was to just go as far as i could and stay inbounds while Ryan threw BOMBS. If I didn't get inbounds then Ryan knew he had to take 'a little bit off' his drives and to be aggressive while staying conscience of staying safe. This worked and I even helped by making a 60 footer for birdie one hole and by staying inbounds when Ryan went OB on the very, very long holes resulting in Pars(all Par 3s but a lot of them were 450-500'). so essentially it was Ryan and myself vs Simon, no offense to Aggie. We tied at -8 !!! and with my prize money I bought a Lizzotte disc and had him sign it for a Polish disc golf fan of his who lived in London(he was thrilled to bits!). I went home to England a giving hero and Ryan got to know he could hang with Simon on his home course(who in all honestly was playing blind especially since it was almost dark when we all finished).
loved the interaction, and getting to see the pros play at one of my local courses
I feel like statistically the first partner in dubs should always run everything because there aggressive play could always turn out to be a great safe play by chance.
I feel like the number of makes is not worth the pressure on the other player to cover the shanks but thats just me

I’m with Brodie. In a team event you want to try and have one in the middle sage and then let the better player go after the second shot. Awesome video guys!!
I think it depends on the hole, If you can take the pressure off of the second shot by playing a safe first shot, that opens the door for the second. This only works if the first player can actually deliver on the safe shot.
