I might’ve gotten lucky or something because I beat her on my first attempt and she didn’t even use any crazy attack combo, she kinda just let me spam jump attacks. I felt like the parry god in this fight. Only had one fragment so I had to no-hit the second phase and made it through flawlessly. Shit was a scene straight from an anime. This might be my favorite boss in the game.
This is straight up better than Malenia no bs waterfall no cheap ass healing mechanic, actually can tell when combo ends. Beat her with Perfect Block tear. Great boss
In what world is this boss not more BS than Malenia?? Combos that last forever, the ability to cancel/change attacks mid combo with no warning, absurd hitboxes, the ability to endlessly chain combos without you ever being able to get a hit in, absurd poise and HP. You basically have no chance to attack her as she's always unleashing another combo with little rest At least with Malenia, you can stun her like you can a normal player and interrupt her combos that way. With Rellana though? Endless, infinite combos with little rest
malenia is just much more respectful and balanced than this boss. when you die on malenia it's your fault it's just infamous and the difficulty is artificial the life bar way too big and the damage just abused in addition to being random it's just not interesting and frustrating for the wrong reasons
@keikei2942 The combos are not that long, I killed her with a UGS without many issues, and I had no issues with her hitboxes either. Malenia has waterfowl and heal on hit. Rellana isn't BS because she has no unfair moves, everything she does is telegraphed and dodgeable consistently.
5:17 love that there’s no possible way to avoid every attack in that combo unless you’re lucky enough to have distance. everything else in the fight seems like something you can learn but this move just seems luck based.
Very fun to parry too, takes two to get a stagger but it also cuts her combos short and gives a moment for a couple quick hits. The move where she dashes to the side and does a spin attack felt like it had really intuitive timing for me, along with her gap closer cross slash
Yea she’s super easy to parry, everyone’s overreacting when it comes to this boss I beat her in 9 attempts and no hit a couple hours ago on my 33rd attempt and ima post it on my channel tmrw
@@innerecho9468 Parying in ER is basically only for nolifers. Takes forever to figure out what can be parried and when. The mechanic is clearly an afterthought, If they gave us the Sekiro parry, then it would be worth spending time on it.
on the span of over 3 days i finally beat this boss. no mimic no summon just pure fucking suffering and dedication. hardest boss yet from the dlc and im not ready for whats next in the journey.
Finally defeated her after seeing comment on reddit that suggests switching to a Light Greatsword with Wing Stance ashes. The leap attack helps you get a few hits in easily and just roll away afterwards!
Beat her solo, but these bosses are so tedious and exhausting, it wears you down to the point of frustration. She took less time for me than other bosses in previous FS catalogue, but it felt like it took twice as long with twice as much effort, yet without the proper satisfaction. It's a shame cause the idea is there (awesome design, music, moveset). ER movement is way too slow to put up a fun fight against these crackhead bosses. If we had BB movement with a faster flask, then it'd be more like a back and forth dance, not a one sided wombo fest
If you are struggling it might help you greatly to mix a new wondrous physique flask and swapping a talisman or two. The moon drop attack can be dodged by rolling when the moons hit the ground. It is also helpful to get the right mindset to think “ I can do this”. I spent about 15 hours across two or three days fighting rellanna. When I finally beat her yesterday I felt like I could actually progress this dlc. After rellanna I went on to easily beat divine beast dancing lion, blackgoal knight, and golden hippo. Rellanna is the “Margit the fell omen” of the dlc. I did it on ng+5 with scaudtree blessing of 3. It really helps to get it up. There is no shame in looking up a guide for scaudtree fragments or using summons to alleviate your misery. IT IS A MECHANIC
Honestly bloodhound step made this fight really easy for me. Been using the backhand blades for this dlc and I just equipped the bloodhound step for this fight specifically and I managed to dodge a majority of her attacks with that ability. For the moon nuke I’d recommend jumping instead of dodging though.
Some extra notes (I havent done too much testing) if you get up close to her for phase 2, she'll start with her volcano attack instead of the 5 waves. if you attack her while phase 2 is starting, theres a chance she just jumps straight into fighting without doing either moves
FInally beat her, your tips really helped a lot man ! I use Marais executioner sword so finding time to charge up Echoaids dance was hard but thankfully I was able to find her combo ends thanks to you
For any Heavy Strength builds, the best way to beat this boss is to use the fingerprint shield, and a high damage weapon. Use Guard counter talisman and increased stamina recovery.... you should get to the second phase untouched Also the Guard boost Talisman is great too
Naked Bow guy here & summoned Latenna for constant arrow pressure. Use status arrows/bolts- poison, rot, cold and she's weak to lightning. Light roll helps avoid her AOE. Two hits to death, though.
Ice great katana with wild strikes is really good for this. Stun her just before half health, and you can keep swinging freely for about 30% of her health
I only need 5-6 tries to defeat Malenia, this one needs like 40 times!! Took me 3 hours and finally I just gave up and summon spirit ash and the knight to fight 😢
@@shinren_ loll actually my friend told me how to avoid her waterfowl during the fight 😅 Malenia is bit easier than rellana because of her low poise! I used giant hunt on my claymore and aspect of crucible horn to send her flying, when she's on the ground i switched to my second right hand weapon and spam flamestrike, on my sixth tries I made it
I feel like I cheesed myself out of the fun by nobraining this boss with the mimic tear. First time I switched out the ash as I want to actually enjoy a boss fight like this lol.
I beat her with the guts great sword with lions claw and to stop her healing inflicted scarlet rot with Melanias bloom flower incantation but even with all that she still was destroying me if I lost focus in her attacks
Haven't seen the vid yet, but I took her down with guard counters on a pretty unoptimized build. Lightning is obviously a good choice, as half the arena is covered in water. Note there's surely a better way to fight her without taking damage, but for what it matters, the cuckoo great shield is solid enough. I used the dragon claw you get from the draconic tree sentinel outside Leyndell. In general, critical hits are the most effective strategy, either it be with parry or stance break
I beat her solo with a carian knight shield with carian retaliation, and misericorde in the other hand. Learning to parry her is so fun if that playstyle is your thing. Probably one of my favorite bosses in the DLC so far
Started a parry build a few days ago. Not good enough for her on my main yet to win by parry, but it looks very doable and fun, because parrying can just shut down her 38 hit combos.
brought me back to pontiff ngl with this one, I keep screaming "COMBO COMBO COMBO WHEN DOES IT END" then I learned there's an opening once I paid close attention, and went "ohhhhh" rly fun boss.
Rellana is one of the coolest Bosses in the Game... Her Twin Blades are OP, in the right situation and her Twin Moons are very viable as well. FS should have given her a questline. I would LOVE to see her and Melenia go head-to-head in battle.
Me and mimic went ham with Mohg’s toast fork while the knight provided a distraction, and it was over very very quickly. I’ll come back and learn the fight later with a non cheese character.
She is horrible! A Japanese player used a tank build with the fingerprint shield, draw all the arrgo on himself to helped me kill this boss. This is after over 20 tries with solo, solo with box summon and lot of random players. She is horrible.
I left her at 1 hp just to see how many attacks she has on my 2nd try after dying to the dual moons I finally let her die after about 5 minutes Light rolls completely trivialize her
Important things not mentioned: 1. In her “neutral” state when she’s walking around. If you are a couple meters away from her and you heal with red OR blue flasks, she can do her ranged lunar attack and pretty much negate your heal. Only heal when you know you have a window. Preferably during her magic casts or after an attack string 2. In her second phase, depending on your position and distance from her, she can EITHER do the fire or magic sword combos. I think it’s easier to keep your distance and avoid the moon slices. Dodge the first two, JUMP over the third and she will miss the fourth. Then dodge the fifth to the left or right. I think I died to Rellana at least 100 times. I had to come back to her after getting at least 7-8 scooby doo fragments. Her second phase took too much health away the first time
One thing I noticed is that without bloodhound step it’s almost impossible to get away from her which just ruins your stamina causing you to die or take a lot of damage no matter what this is the only boss I genuinely think needs a nerf cause it’s just a worse version of dancing lion it’s especially worse in NG+
it took me lik 3-4 hours, mostly because I got hit several times and/or got 2 shotted, but I obliterated her in like 2 minutes on my last attempt. the backhand blades +25 + bloodflame blade (I also tried poison and rot, they work really good on her, frost as well) the ash of war let's you dodge a lot of her combos, it's insane.
Managed to beat her with Leda's help, a lightning Great Katana and getting my blessing level a bit higher after many tries. Perk of going into the DLC and winging it.

Oh brother I feel your pain we shall suffer and triumph together here in NG+7 hell may we experience the dlc longer than most
Is it true that new game + 7 makes it harder? I thought the DLC area was exempt and the blessings to be picked up in the area matter more, how does it all work?
a heavily underrated sword for this fight is the beastman curved sword, tune it with ice magic and u can pretty much spam jumping R2's and R1s pretty easily, add bloodhounds step to dodge easier and tears that up ur magic damage and chance to stagger.
I agree on staggering. My main build is using jump R1 attacks with duel Rusted Heavy Anchors. For Rellana, all I needed to do was just get right in her face and spam jump R1s. I might’ve gotten lucky or something because I beat her on my first attempt and she didn’t even use any crazy attack combo, she kinda just let me spam jump attacks. Compared to the Divine Beast Dancing Lion, she seemed a lot more easy to read at least in her attacks align with not making the camera go crazy.
@@dbean5174Thanks so much dude I really wanted to beat her without using any summons like the other bosses, decided to try out dual anchors and I finally beat her in a few gos. Anchor for the win
@@bodaciousfallacious275yeah I like them a lot. I was trying a duel Gargoyle’s twin Kade build with bleed before this and while it actually has the potential to do a good chunk more damage than the duel rusted anchors, I found them to be a lot less inconsistent and not only that but I need to be much closer to actually get damage in.
Must be nice being able to take more then 2 hits
Man this ng+ shi no joke
For reals. I'm in NG+9 and I can't take a full combo
@@jr_games4477 dont worry man i get it, sucks being at ng+37 while fighting her for the first time in your life
I'm honestly thinking of just starting a new save and coming back to this dlc without ng+, this is fucking insane
@@cooldog8580 who tf does more than three ng+? honestly after the third one you cant do anything new, same weapons and shi, i'd rather just make another save
Great boss
Try without summon and then we will see, also saying malenia has cheap ass healing mechanic just because your summon gets hit and she heals is lmao
In what world is this boss not more BS than Malenia??
Combos that last forever, the ability to cancel/change attacks mid combo with no warning, absurd hitboxes, the ability to endlessly chain combos without you ever being able to get a hit in, absurd poise and HP. You basically have no chance to attack her as she's always unleashing another combo with little rest
At least with Malenia, you can stun her like you can a normal player and interrupt her combos that way.
I think you got malenia and rellana backwards
@keikei2942 The combos are not that long, I killed her with a UGS without many issues, and I had no issues with her hitboxes either. Malenia has waterfowl and heal on hit. Rellana isn't BS because she has no unfair moves, everything she does is telegraphed and dodgeable consistently.
"Make sure you dodge that slice, unlike me" got me more than it should
5:17 love that there’s no possible way to avoid every attack in that combo unless you’re lucky enough to have distance. everything else in the fight seems like something you can learn but this move just seems luck based.
@@shortkidevanmaybe cause barley anyone parries in this game 💀 try dodging her
@@innerecho9468 Parying in ER is basically only for nolifers. Takes forever to figure out what can be parried and when. The mechanic is clearly an afterthought, If they gave us the Sekiro parry, then it would be worth spending time on it.
Ah sweet suffering.. let’s all enjoy this moment!!
New favorite boss ever every single one of her attacks can be parried it’s like a misericorde goldmine
on the span of over 3 days i finally beat this boss. no mimic no summon just pure fucking suffering and dedication. hardest boss yet from the dlc and im not ready for whats next in the journey.
After 12 hours I finally go to UA-cam
I hate this boss so much harder then Melania no cap.
Yeah feels like there is much more going on especially in phase two
Yea too much damage and she's tanky as hell
Nah the boss is fun, but it's pretty hard
@@Realkeonrthis boss is not fun this is probably the worst boss fromsoft has made since Laurence from Bloodborne
Lmao the salt reminds me of when people started talking about Malenia. I love it. She's a great boss
i'm so scared of whatever bosses are after this scary bih
If we had BB movement with a faster flask, then it'd be more like a back and forth dance, not a one sided wombo fest
you forgot the part where if you are far enought away and heal with the flask she instantly uses a carian slicer .___.
if u get far enough u can still dodge after using flask
0:15 both of the summon arent there for me?
one more tip i have
try fighting her when its rainy while using lighting dmg and always keep her at the water surface for maximum dmg
also fun fact i found out if you lower her max health with black knife when the effect is over it does heal her
Found this myself! Changed to mimic and 1 shot
Took me like 7+ hours but I finally beat her. No summons, no mimic tear, solo (I went a little crazy)
I use Marais executioner sword so finding time to charge up Echoaids dance was hard but thankfully I was able to find her combo ends thanks to you
this is the best tutorial, awesome stuff thx
Got her first try shock helped alot
For any Heavy Strength builds, the best way to beat this boss is to use the fingerprint shield, and a high damage weapon.
Use Guard counter talisman and increased stamina recovery....
you should get to the second phase untouched
Also the Guard boost Talisman is great too
Impaling thrust helped me a lot with this one
Still took 11 tries which is about the same as malenia and mohg
Naked Bow guy here & summoned Latenna for constant arrow pressure. Use status arrows/bolts- poison, rot, cold and she's weak to lightning.
Light roll helps avoid her AOE. Two hits to death, though.
Ice great katana with wild strikes is really good for this. Stun her just before half health, and you can keep swinging freely for about 30% of her health
I only need 5-6 tries to defeat Malenia, this one needs like 40 times!! Took me 3 hours and finally I just gave up and summon spirit ash and the knight to fight 😢
5 tries without ash of war?
If u did malenia solo in 5 tries youre faking lmaooo no way ur gonna perfectly dodge waterfowl that quick
I dodge it twice on my first melania fight today and then pro eeded to die 35 more times. I quit for now@shinren_
@@shinren_ loll actually my friend told me how to avoid her waterfowl during the fight 😅
Malenia is bit easier than rellana because of her low poise! I used giant hunt on my claymore and aspect of crucible horn to send her flying, when she's on the ground i switched to my second right hand weapon and spam flamestrike, on my sixth tries I made it
Don't read Souls playthrough comments. It's full of children who lie @@kluivertdutra
Explaining what her combo enders are was really helpful.
Im calling it wraps for the night, pick back up tomorrow! Its 11pm as of now in Houston
Me too it's 01:40 here in brazil. This morning I will continue hahaha died around 20 times
@@adrianobelle1253been at it for like 5 hours no win it’s 7 in the morning…
one of my favourite bosses they made its hard as fuck but its so good.
the moon attack is one of the most crazy attacks ive ever seen
I FINALLY GOT HER, THANK YOU
I only beat her because the attack at 2:53 doesnt hit you if you stay right in her face then my magma blades just melted her
Rellana does the eigong attack from nine sols in her second phase...frame by frame.... what a fucking awesome.....easter egg
Bro this fight was nuts I just beat her, took me like 3 hours, second strongest elden ring boss at the moment for me
She was ok once you got more than 12 Fragments.. Of course she is going to be crazy if you are under leveled
Incredible effort ! Your skill is amazing
Leda + Mimic tear go BRRRRRRR
was using Black Knife and Leda and couldn’t do it. switched to Mimic Tear and destroyed her in one try!
I feel like I cheesed myself out of the fun by nobraining this boss with the mimic tear.
First time I switched out the ash as I want to actually enjoy a boss fight like this lol.
This fight took me 2hrs!! You ain’t wrong about being patient 😅😅 47 deaths but let me tell you I LOVED IT SO MUCH! 🔥🔥
I beat her with the guts great sword with lions claw and to stop her healing inflicted scarlet rot with Melanias bloom flower incantation but even with all that she still was destroying me if I lost focus in her attacks
She is piecing me up so badly, but goddamn is this fight fun. Pontiff could never be this difficult.
Not good enough for her on my main yet to win by parry, but it looks very doable and fun, because parrying can just shut down her 38 hit combos.
im on ng7 shes got so much health and does so much dmg its great
just use cheese her with bleed
brought me back to pontiff ngl with this one, I keep screaming "COMBO COMBO COMBO WHEN DOES IT END" then I learned there's an opening once I paid close attention, and went "ohhhhh" rly fun boss.
The pontiff is back
except pontiff is incredibly easy
people really don't want to admit how hard this boss is..
I defeated the boss as a sorcerer, with the Ogha ashes and one of the npc summon. Let the summons take agro and bombarded it with the night comet
sounds lame tbh
@@krupadre0177 thats your problem then
@@sunzalea3257 No, i'm fine, I didn't spoil my playthrough by summoning so many npcs to watch them annihilate the boss
@@krupadre0177 why are you so pressed about how others play? lmao i dont get it??
Valeu!
Clean AF
Rellana is one of the coolest Bosses in the Game... Her Twin Blades are OP, in the right situation and her Twin Moons are very viable as well. FS should have given her a questline. I would LOVE to see her and Melenia go head-to-head in battle.
waiiit.. the voice is different ! hahaha jk thanks for the guide !
Thank you so much! Those Moons were driving me crazy! 🤪
я вчера сидел на стриме у чела и он здоровым медленным мечом ее пытылся пройти
Me and mimic went ham with Mohg’s toast fork while the knight provided a distraction, and it was over very very quickly. I’ll come back and learn the fight later with a non cheese character.
She is horrible! A Japanese player used a tank build with the fingerprint shield, draw all the arrgo on himself to helped me kill this boss. This is after over 20 tries with solo, solo with box summon and lot of random players. She is horrible.
skill issue ngl
@@MizzledewThe boss is fine, she just has too much damn health
@@Mizzledew I highly doubt it was a walk in the park for you, how desperate to pretend you are some amazing player, sit down! 😂
@@zhilong I never said she was easy, just that you calling a boss horrible bc you can't beat it is ridiculous.
I got rid of my blasphemous blade because of the drop this boss gives… it’s game changing for my build
God damn my fav boss ever! and the weapon is so cool
I left her at 1 hp just to see how many attacks she has on my 2nd try after dying to the dual moons
I finally let her die after about 5 minutes
Light rolls completely trivialize her
please get a Messmer guide out ASAP 😅
Important things not mentioned:
1. In her “neutral” state when she’s walking around. If you are a couple meters away from her and you heal with red OR blue flasks, she can do her ranged lunar attack and pretty much negate your heal.
Only heal when you know you have a window. Preferably during her magic casts or after an attack string
Her second phase took too much health away the first time
i tank this boss with Grafted Blade Greatsword build, kill her within minute lol
How? I need help bad I’m stuck please help me 😢
Awesome boss.
Really made me feel like a tarnished
Second boss?? I guess I beat the wrong "first" boss ;-;
Yeah ... the amount of dmg DLC bosses deals is the reason I started using Opaline Hardtear :D it's a staple now, helps a ton
If only I could fight bosses in the same NG like a remembrance practice option without having the need to beat the game again.
Her attacks are so awkwardly timed that even if you dodge the first sword the second hits
Gotta dodge in the right direction too, or use quickstep. I agree tho this boss sucks dick of you don't parry
it took me lik 3-4 hours, mostly because I got hit several times and/or got 2 shotted, but I obliterated her in like 2 minutes on my last attempt. the backhand blades +25 + bloodflame blade (I also tried poison and rot, they work really good on her, frost as well) the ash of war let's you dodge a lot of her combos, it's insane.
wait more than 8 hit combo, give 1 hit, return to wait, fuck this boss battle
I'm really sick and tired of boss fights that feel more like fighting a wu shu master on crack
Another tip which got me the W in the end is to not run away from her when she starts phase 2. If you poise break her and shes
Thank u I needed to know how to dodge those moons, they were insta killing me every time lol
Managed to beat her with Leda's help, a lightning Great Katana and getting my blessing level a bit higher after many tries. Perk of going into the DLC and winging it.
I solo'd her, but I needed 3 posture breaks (with R2), besides bleeding effect. And it was still hell.
