Wish I could get a bit more volume out of UA-cam so I could hear your comments without strain. The building space you selected looks a bit uneven, suggesting you will either need to level the land to make it more useful, or not use it if something won't place. I could be wrong, but putting your buildings close together seems like a bad idea you will need to fix later by moving them around to provide more space for improvements, like decorations. I agree with the idea until wagons and carts are actually used in the game, the roads should look more like a foot path. The roads should reflect what is being done by the people using them and change appearance as usage would dictate. It gives the game a bit of polish.
Thank you so much for this tutorial on this game. It goes to show that no matter how much I may THINK I've learned, and try to start my own city, I have more to go back and learn AGAIN.
I am thinking the game designers worked extra hours on the programming to ensure it was complicated as they though was needed to set it aside from those already available.
So far I never get too far ahead with food storage. Seen a tip in the load menu though, that said if hunting seems to be getting behind, it's time to start livestock farming. Then I went to build a barn... 100 dang planks.
That isn't the worse of it, the cows are expensive and only available through the Trading Post, which you may not have up yet. Then there is .... well, you will discover those other big deals later.
@@jameserickson2340 Patience does play a large part in gameplay, and I recommend you drag out staying in tier 1 as long as practical since having more common labor helps later. It is still necessary to have extra housing/shelter for new comers, but it is important to not assign too many of your common labor force to specific tasks too quickly, like hunting, foraging, and such since that will likely reduce your common laborers into the red.
Bought it last night and coudnt stop playing it. Started 2 cities and failed both ha. Learned a lot from it though so here i am ready to learn some pointers :D
Don't worry too much about that! In real life, most cities tend to be continuously added onto over generations rather than accurately planned. You're fine!
Same bro. But what helped me out was literally writing things down and have a small journal or just some paper to keep notes lol sounds wack I know but it helped me bruh, like I’ll write down things it’ll help keep track of things and help me to be super organized
I never knew that art could remain so pure and unadulterated. This content is what the platform has needed for years. Anyone that hasn’t seen this yet needs to as soon as they can.
Thanks for posting another helpful video, just starting it now but was wondering if anyone knows if you can assign villagers to specific jobs or houses? I clicked on something in the sawmill or workers camp, and a new window popped up with the people working there. Never saw it before and it seemed like I could assign them but I could not get anything to happen, and now I have been unable to find that window again!
LOL, I know that feeling. Would can click on a worker and tell them to go somewhere on the map, even if you didn't mean to. Maybe able to send them to a resource, but if they are already loaded down, they may not do anything.
My biggest issue starting out so far is wolves. Ive lost multiple starting colonies due to wolves killing most of my citizens. So much so that I went into the advanced settings and lowered the setting that makes them more rare.
I have noticed there is a desirability meter on some workplaces. Is there any downside to placing a workplace with desirability on the minus side on the meter?
I bought this game and returned it for a steam refund because I didn't like it. But seeing your videos I bought it again! Your advertising game is strong lol I'll try this game again after work. For now I'll just watch your videos so that I can git gud
Is the a bridge/port in early/mid game? IV been spawned in a relative small island without iron etc and I don’t know how to explore the rest of the map. Ty
Is there a way to automate trading? I often miss traders. And when playing on arid theres plenty of things i need to buy (clay, baskets/ willoww, and healing herbs)
Any suggestions on how to keep food spoilage down? I had a town with 3 smokers but once I bought like 2000 meat from a trader it went straight into the bin. Probably not enough smokers for such high volume of meat in one go. Any guidance on the ratio?
It helps keep track of things. I’ve played some games where I have it on 3x speed or the max speed and then something happens that I miss or wasn’t paying attention too and kinda screws me up a bit. ALSO it helps when playing a new game to take ur time to learn exactly how things work etc. but whatevr works for you 🤟🏽
1 2 3 4 (select different game speeds) Space bar (pauses) Sometimes you'll be toggling between the speeds. Paradox titles are like this. Detailed stuff happening? 0.5x . Need to place a building? Pause imo. Waiting for some logs to get chopped and stored? Max speed. Try an ad Hoc approach unless you're trying to RP
I like how you’re constantly engaging with us in your vids, I’ll subscribe and keep watching. Also your houses can hold more people as they upgrade tiers. But upgrading them takes alooot of early game set up. Not going to spoil the reason why I say that lol.
Great video Raptor big help. Just wish i could play this without any lag and constsnt skipping. My pc can handle gta5 but it cant play this smoothly on its lowest settings. 😩😓
How do you get more people in your town, im stuck at 27/48 and have hundreds of planks, stones, gold, and logs. Makes no sense, have three fishermen and three foragers but onnly 4/5 food max at all times, cant level up my town hall and cant move on.... sucks Edit: and two hunters, onn the easiest mode on the easest map.... and pacifist mode on.... Edit 2: And have smokehouse, root cellar, storage etc... HELP
I tried the F2 button to see the name of buildings but it doesn't work. I tried to change it to another key, like F5, still doesn't work. I wonder why...
It's actually a bad idea to build wells near trees. They will end up in competition for the water, and depending on tree type, the roots can do a lot of damage to the well. So I think the game gets this wrong.
In the little experience I have with this game so far, it is basically Banished but with (mostly) more in-depth systems and higher difficulty overall. Banished was the sort of game that was very fun, but got very easy after a bit of playtime. This could get that way eventually, but I'm having a much tougher time so far with it than I ever did with Banished.
@@rapipanmanoch6470 ohh okay thanks yea I was thinking it might have to do with growing rye? But im just guessing that it might be one step to the whole process

A tipp for a later video:
I found out, that when u plant Clover on your farm field you can gras your cows in it 😍 win win for fertility

The fertility overlay is helpful, I find, when deciding where to plunk down your town hall.
I wish I was better at laying out the city. I have that problem in every city builder though. It ends up being ugly and obviously unplanned lol

Thankfully, you can relocate buildings! It simply costs labor, not materials

i love this game. the only thing is, there are no tutorials on the games. luckily we have you.

thank you sir will help a lot for a new player
Thanks allot this is so helpful, i already murdered like 3 full villages due to a bad start :) lets start over :)
So excited this game is finally out! Can't wait to play it too
Your gaming videos are the best.
Would love for you to do a deep dive into storage, and moving goods in the game, as I find it quite perplexing right now.
This game would benefit highly from a campaign with limitations, resource-wise and raw materials/production buildings. Like the OG Caesar 3
My life changed when I found out you could move the blueberry bushes.
My biggest issue starting out so far is wolves. Ive lost multiple starting colonies due to wolves killing most of my citizens. So much so that I went into the advanced settings and lowered the setting that makes them more rare.
This really reminds me of Settlers 6
Do people develop specialized skills over time?
They can go through school and they get some sort of bonuses like working faster or better I believe
