Please do continue. I saw in other video that the barn pasturing area increase de fertility of the soil, so place the barn near the areas you want to plant crops in the future

Wish I could get more volume out of UA-cam so I wouldn't strain so much to hear your comments. All the settings are already at 100%, so they would have to do something.

I noticed the ornamental trees are actual trees, you can plant them in a forestry area then harvest for wood
True, once the town center has been upgraded, but spending gold and other resources for trees doesn't seem very cost effective. Of course if you are using the clear option instead of the harvest command, the trees don't come back automatically.

There are a few ways to get advanced warning that raiders are coming: tower, hunter, foragers, and any villager. The catch is one of those options needs to be near the end of the road to be effective. A tower, or hunter will attack, but at the risk of destruction, or death. The other two just run towards town. Of course this means the raiders have to use the road.
Just finished second part and instantly got third! Nice! Getting the game today hopefully, it is like Stronghold but in 2022!

I am starting to think you don't fear a frost killing your crops, or the condition of your fields. I made the same mistakes with a few games and have learned managing farm land is a lot more complex than I first thought.

Q: do roads pave automatically when they're often used? I feel that's what happened to the part of the main road curving up towards the industry quarter.
Nope all manually placed!
Roads only go in at first as wagon tracks and I wish the game was programmed to show foot paths that grow wider depending on foot traffic. Later, when the wagon shop is built and wagons are actually in use, then roads being used by the wagons show wagon tracks. That would be a more polished look for the game. If you want cobble stone roads, you have to accept the upgrade and have plenty of stone available in the stockyard.

maybe those four houses have lower desirability as they are so close to each other?
He checked (by trying to build a new one close to another one) and the desirability didn't change.
Density is an issue since a point may come when decorations will needed to be placed to get to the 30% needed for automatic upgrade.

i think roadds do help because when you where built one that connected to houses that didnt have roads to them they were highlighted greem

i was surprised how handy the hunters were for the raid
Hunters are very useful since a pair, or three can be used to explore the map. They can also attack raiders that normally means they will follow them until attacked to reveal more of the map.

Great work. By the way, you forgot to put a fence around your farm to prevent critters from eating your crops.
The wall around the city usually keeps things out!
True, that is likely going to be an issue later, but you can put hunters near and hope they keep harvesting the deer. Sometimes they just ignore them and you have to tell them to harvest the deer.

More dynamic than Foundation, and more organic than Anno. The raid though, was so easy to defend. Also, do the lumberjacks ever take a break?
Everyone takes a break to go home and get food and warmth. Then back to work. There’s no leisure time I dont think, though some go to the pub :P
Common laborers will take breaks and you can assign them tasks in various buildings, as long as you have new villagers to replace them before the logs get too low in the stockyard.

You are demonstrating a common first mistake, other than no firewood, or food in winter, that pops up a bit later in the game when you want the housing to become homesteads - the housing is jammed too close together. I am thinking it might be a better decision to go ahead and move the housing a bit so the decorations with the most impact will fit. After all, you are spending gold and will need 1200 for tier 3 at some point.

Love the videos! I just nought the game. My first town is at 26 years but my food supplies are running into issues and raiders are making ice tough lol. I think I overextended myself
Have you considered playing Oxygen Not Included? Would love to see your strategies to combat the mechanics for that game
Could cows manure fertilize low fertility lands? Would love to see it if it does.
They do, but setting it up can be a tad complicated in early game play.
Maybe make roads to those houses? You don't have any road for some
You can play a few years without roads, so it depends on how many common laborers you have for the work. Roads also help to define any building grids you want to establish, but buildings can be moved around, so no rush.
Darren do you think all building games like this or the anno series should have a sandbox feature so that you can plan?
Not sure what you mean? This is a sandbox game… do you mean a Creative Mode? Like unlimited resources and no raids etc.
blueprint mode would be nice too.
