Short’s Trudeau isn’t bad either. I loved the one where he fell madly in love with Edith Prickly and she tossed him over her head onto the dance floor.
I remember this skit. I love them all!Eugene Levy, Joe Flaherty, Martin Short, Andrea Martin! Love the improv vetween Trudeau and Gandhi. Perfect impersonation of Trudeau😂
one of my favorite skits ever.....a completely old school and extremely shallow host making a mockery out of interviewing people of historic significance.
SCTV was bursting at the seams with sheer brilliance on both sides of the camera, and could skewer tripe like damned few people before or since. If they had you in their crosshairs it was usually because you deserved it, and you should’ve been glad it was them rather than 60 Minutes. Sometimes, yes, it was because they loved you. Sometimes it happened because a cast member impersonated you well, but 90% of SCTV zeroes in on mindless garbage with uncanny accuracy, as in this testifies. By the way, the scary husband in the audience is played by George Buza, later a regular cast member of Joe Flaherty’s series Maniac Mansion. Thank you very, very much for uploading this.
SCTV has always been light years ahead of SNL and this skit shows why. The sets were a lot cheaper, but that was part of its (very Canadian) charm. And for those of us old enough, those were just outstanding impressions. "Danny, cancel that roast beef buffet. No, seriously she'd love that joke". "Danny, find out if the have their own fire department". And on and on.
Yes Michael, Nancy Short passed away of 2010 from Ovarian cancer. Martin Short mentioned his wife's cancer battle in his 2014 memoir "I Must Say: My life as a Humble comedy legend."
Its amazing the crazy range all the SCTV actors had. Levy alone plays everything from the wormy Earl Canenbar to this guy. Same with Andrea Martin. Gandhi to "Edith Prickley". They were the best!
“Last call for lunatic liberals and their girlfriends”. SCTV baby! Unstoppable in their prime. Levy is gold. More Levy gold in this 10 min sketch than the entire Schitts Creek series, yet that is what he won the acclaim for.
Stan Kanter -- what a character, never seen this one before. He's genius, he's channeling lecherous game show hosts like Richard Dawson. . . and the comeback to the news that the guest is Indira Gandhi "Danny, cancel that roast beef buffet" . . . wow. Somehow Levy, like Paul Schaffer, grew up knowing all the weird quirks of celebrity and loving them . . . also notice that Levy has not one but two distinct Boscht Belt comics, Stan Kanter and Bobby Bittman . . . the quality of the observation is amazing.
Justin Trudeau, the current Canadian Prime Minister, (ever since 2015), was one of Pierre’s oldest sons; Pierre was a former Prime Minister of Canada (late 1960's-late 1970's; early 1980's).
@@ADOTlied This just in...Trump lost and since Biden's win, my investments in the stock market have rocketed up like they did not under Trump's embarrassing reign of incompetence...but your comment proves that ignorance is indeed bliss. If Trump and his bootlickers have nothing to hide and are proud of their actions, why are they fighting so desperately (and losing) to hide what they did and said re. the Jan.6 invasion of the Capital, including Hang Pence and bringing lumber and erecting a Pence gallows and other such idiotic acts and chants? SMH.
This is part of the A Team. Levy, Short, Martin, Flaherty. SCTV was AWESOME. An improv with Ghandi, Buckley and Trudeau - pure genius.
At their best...!
They’re all great. Kudos to the makeup department. Buckley (Flaherty) and Trudeau (Short) look fantastic
"Indira must be an Indian name."
Eugene Levy is one of the funniest comedians Canada has ever produced, lmao
Those eyebrows alone are comedians.
instablaster
Agree absolutely.
The world has ever produced!
Genius! Bravo! Flaherty's Buckley is the one and only perfect impression of Buckley ever devised and performed.
Short’s Trudeau isn’t bad either. I loved the one where he fell madly in love with Edith Prickly and she tossed him over her head onto the dance floor.
That William Buckley impression is spot-on.
Even better than the one Robin Williams pulled out in Aladdin; not often you get to outdo Robin.
Frighteningly good.
How completely under-rated these guys are. This is so great
SCTV was pure comedy genius!!
Best comedy like everrrrr!!
This is one of my favourite clips! Thanks so much! Short's Trudeau is superb.
Flaherty is spot on for the eye roll, tongue swipe and posture of William F. Buckley.........on the same level of Dave Thomas's Bob Hope.
4:24 Spot-on and deadpan. Could’ve been lifted directly from Firing Line.
This was so funny that I was crying. The comedians were the best and the makeup artist did such a great job on SCTV.
Pierre and Indira....in a bar😂🤣 - everyone so good in this skit...Eugene always the best at running the show.
How is it this brilliance has so few views, and 'funny cat' videos get millions?
Amount of brain power?
You must admit, ‘ Dog Fart Cat Puke’ is not without its merits.
I remember this skit. I love them all!Eugene Levy, Joe Flaherty, Martin Short, Andrea Martin! Love the improv vetween Trudeau and Gandhi. Perfect impersonation of Trudeau😂
The thing I've always found intriguing about SCTV is that it always had the appearance of not being rehearsed.
it often wasn't
Coming out of second city, I'm sure there was a lot of improv. Their performances feel fresh and a little spontaneous.
Absolutely, was thinking same, adds to the authenticity of the show's characters.
I agree there were so many regulars that were masters at improvisation!
"Can you find out if the Vatican has its own fire department ?" Good stuff. SCTV was so underrated as a comedy show, better than SNL in my opinion.
So well done.
one of my favorite skits ever.....a completely old school and extremely shallow host making a mockery out of interviewing people of historic significance.
Reminds me of this Python sketch . . . ua-cam.com/video/vZ9myHhpS9s/v-deo.html
this sctv has me feeling great..

Short's PET is incredible.

Joe Flaherty's Buckley is perfect....what a terrific series this was!
Trudeau and Buckley makeup is amazing
The makeup on this show was in fact outstanding and deserves recognition.
The lovely Marsha is Nancy Short, wife of Martin Short.
Thank you, I knew she looked familiar! 😊 I remember her from the '70s sitcom "Soap", credited as Nancy Dolman then.
Hasn’t she passed away?
Yes Michael, Nancy Short passed away of 2010 from Ovarian cancer. Martin Short mentioned his wife's cancer battle in his 2014 memoir "I Must Say: My life as a Humble comedy legend."
@@quantumcat6998I remember Soap! I loved the episode with the aliens!

Earl Camembert, like the cheese
So funny. Man SCTV was the best
Priceless...
"Cancel the roast beef buffet.." I just spit out my coffee on that one. "Indira, darling, over here sweetheart."
Funniest thing I’ve ever seen. Should have made a series on it.
I love how Martin Short uses Turdeau's classic "Gunslinger" stance to introduce himself to Andrea Martin's "Indira Gandhi".
Brilliant sketch! Sctv forever!
the trudeau impression is so good that it's creepy
I wish talk shows were more like this
Joe Flaherty's impersonation of William F. Buckley is inspired.
“Last call for lunatic liberals and their girlfriends”. SCTV baby! Unstoppable in their prime. Levy is gold. More Levy gold in this 10 min sketch than the entire Schitts Creek series, yet that is what he won the acclaim for.
even better: "their third-world girlfriends"!
Flaherty as Buckley…spot-on
This could be 2020, only funny for all the right reasons.
It's Turner Edison!
Sublime lunacy!
I love that ending with Buckley as the bartender.
Hilarious! Funny and so creative! Actually requires some knowledge by the audience.
What a great Buckley!
As a representative of the third world...hahaha...Indira!---Indira!
Brilliant!

joes buckley is perfect bulging eyes and all
I was looking for the comment box to say the same thing...spot on.
Does the Vatican field its own OIympic team?
Water Polo. The Pope blesses the water before every practice.
George Buza as the audience husband
Thr only way I can recognize Short is to look for the character that least looks like him!😮. 🤓😎✌🏼
Justin Trudeau, the current Canadian Prime Minister, (ever since 2015), was one of Pierre’s oldest sons; Pierre was a former Prime Minister of Canada (late 1960's-late 1970's; early 1980's).
Is that character actor George Buza as the husband?
It sure is!
@@quantumcat6998 Thanks for the confirmation! He's awesome. I loved him in The Brain.
@@SamanthaRyan_20XX You're welcome! I remember him best from "Maniac Mansion", an odd little Canadian show in which he really stood out. 😀
Martin Short did the best PET.....
What do you think of this whole nuclear thing.....😂😂😂
Andrea steals skit
Gonzalo Félix pancho wharton Serrano arrias she was priceless as Indira .
9:55 why you always watch SCTV to the end.
better than Buckley! Long live Joe Flaherty!
Fallon would have them playing beer pong.
Why did it have to turn out like this?
😻😻😻
this is like a mellow version of snl what's up with that!
The difference being, at the time this was performed, SCTV was actually funny.
@@gumbly a little too harsh. Sctv was genrally much smarter and funnier but the " whats up with that" segment is hilarious nontheless.
Indira shows a little leg.
If the Pope had an audience like this...
Hilarious as usual. How I wish the original SCTV actors were still young and here today making skits to poke fun at Trump and his incompetent team.
Ya, and skits to poke fun at Black Lives Matter and Antifa.
@@hoibsh21 ...as well as the Proud Boys and other such losers.

I had no idea American TV was this funny.
It isn’t 🇨🇦 lol
🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁
Two cast members are American; Joe Flaherty and Andrea Martin. Rest are Canadian. They’re work was brilliant.
Meant most of shows were made in Canada John
bonniewep Yes I know that. I’m a big fan of all of their work.
Justin and Nahendra Modi had no chemistry.
the left would never green light a skit like this today. Andrea is wearing brown face.
Oh Vey!
I wish somebody would do that to his son.
Andrea wow lv u-00bc-2099@d
GOOFY IDEA, an Improv. lol this show was so hilarious!
