      Cool, great to hear you’ve managed to fix that as it was a bit frustrating. I do think the Loopmasters content is great, I have been buying the packs for years but for some reason I just have found the search getting to the samples I want quicker on Splice than Loopcloud - I think it’s just me getting used to how it all works.

      @@DirtySecretz i think its due to us having over 3.5 million sounds from over 15 years in the business, we are currently overhauling our genres and tag structure to make finding the right sound faster and easier. Loopcloud is evolving on a weekly basis, and I agree with you that its not as immediate as Splice, but we are aiming for deeper integration into your workflow which comes with additional layers. Your idea of a simple version with some functions invisible is interesting, we will have a think about that for future updates as Loopcloud continues to evolve... thanks again for taking the time to shine a light on what we are doing.

      I wish Loopcloud could fix playing loops or one-shots when using two monitors. For example, if I use my laptop monitor for Loppcloud, and use my second monitor for my DAW with the Loopcloud plugin, I have to click the play loop (Loopcloud), and then click anywhere on my second monitor for the loop to play. Now, if I move Loopcloud to my second monitor the same problem occurs. My production is slowed down by clicking between the two monitors. Sometimes I an error when trying to play loops. My DAW is Studio One 4.

      @@DirtySecretz I get that, I am sure making samples is an art as much as mixing them. But in the long run for someone like me who is having to be conscious of cost while getting music off the ground. I think the cost behind Splice is a better fit at first at least. I wasn't overly impressed with some of the samples that were quickly skipped by enough to pay upwards of 4 credits for them. I could see if the samples were head and shoulders over splice. But it doesn't seem so.

    • @DirtySecretz

      Well app vs app, Loopcloud is definitely still winning - there are so many features in it now. However when it comes do sample collection, it's really down to which you like more which is totally a personal preference. For me, I don't think I _need_ a lot of the features in the loopcloud software - I'm happy doing all that within my DAW, I just want a way to preview the loops in time with my track. Loopcloud still edges this - the new Splice Bridge plugin helps but still searching via the app Loopcloud is a better experience, I still head to the browser to find samples on Splice because it's just a better experience. I think it's still personal opinion though - it's whichever you like the most, I don't think either is the wrong choice.

      If you're on a Mac, go to your user folder and the 'Splice' folder should be in there - not sure where abouts it is on a PC though. If you go to the Splice app, mouse over any sample and to the right of any sample in there you'll see 3 dots - click on them and it'll pop up with the option 'Open Enclosing Folder'. Then just go up a few folders and you'll find the Splice folder.

    Hey, @Dirty Secretz, just curious if you've chosen to stick with one or the other? I just signed up for Splice, but I didn't know Loopcloud existed. Splice is nice, but I do like the VST integration of LC, as well as, the LM collection. One thing I feel you missed was the rent-to-own option for VST synths of Splice. Does LC have that?
    Do you happen to know if you can buy the sample pack out right for a certain price? I tried to "Get Pack" on Splice, and it might be 600 credits (more than my current monthly), and do they just add on the extra cost for that pack to your monthly? Have you or any one had any experience with buying a whole pack?
    I might just keep both for a few months and see which I gravitate towards, but curious which you stuck with.

    • @DirtySecretz
      @DirtySecretz  4 роки тому

      I’ve kept with Splice as for me I think the sounds are better on there. The reason I didn’t talk about the rent-to-own is that the main focus was samples for this video and also the renting to own feature obviously costs extra. It is a great feature though and I’ve bought a few instruments that way. If you want to buy the full pack you just need to wait until you’ve saved up enough credits or I think you can buy a top up - however my tip would be to filter by the type of sounds you want in the pack and just download those. For example, you could filter by drum sounds (which might be 1/4 of the pack) and then hit the download all button for them. That’s what I tend to do as there are generally certain folders within a sample pack I probably won’t use.

      It is subscription based, they just allow certain credits based on that. The $11.99 plan offers like 300 credits a day, which is massive I think. I was looking into this and didnt understand the credit system until I watched this. I think 300 downloads is more than enough, even 100. If you have a specific project going. Plus the included cloud storage. I’d rather pay for this than Netflix or Hulu lol

    • @CRASS2047

    The simple fact you cannot "select all" in Splice within a pack has always bugged me. You can deselect all but not select... For example if you like 95% of a pack but you don't want to waste credits on the 5 or 6 samples you don't want, you've got to select the hundreds you want, instead of simply deselecting 5 or 6 with a few clicks. Super basic functionality just glaringly missing. Meh. But regardless I stick with Splice for quality content.

  • @turfoid7899

    I think as an old school producer who saw this coming, we can all agree, its so much nicer to own your sample libraries offline. I use a ton of sample magic stuff, and Lm, i just much rather owning a license, as my taste changes a lot, i think I have more than enough samples for a lifetime. One day I might create my own cloud service via plugin, with my own sounds of course.

      Their pricing is around the same which is why I didn't really mention it, the base package is about $7.99 for both - which you get 100 credits, again the same for both. There are different levels of plan but for most I think the base level works fine. It's really down to the library of sounds and features of both.

    • @TheDude-vx6wn
      @TheDude-vx6wn 4 роки тому +1

      Dirty Secretz I meant the different costs such as with Splice it's I believe 1 credit per sample or loop, while Loopcloud can be up to 4. Just finished yesterday the trial.

    • @DirtySecretz
      @DirtySecretz  4 роки тому

      The Dude 3000 ah ok, yes with Splice it’s fairly simple - 1 sample 1 credit but with Loopmasters they start at 1 credit and go up depending on the sample. I think it has something to do with who makes the pack. In those terms Splice does look better value but it really all depends on which catalogue of sounds you like more.

      It's definitely hard to find a good, unused vocal sample but that is the problem with using something a lot of other producers use. I think if you're looking for vocal samples it's fine as usually you can manipulate them to create something a bit more unique but never going to compare to getting a singer/songwriter to do a proper top line.

    I don’t even get how ppl work with samples in the sense of finding like, a bass guitar loop in G major, and close to the tempo, there’s only like 5 to chose from. I almost never find an option that fits. You basically have to begin with the samples and go from there. I’d say anyone, even a total beginner, is gonna have a better time with a free sampler like sforzando/zampler and MIDI packs or a generative MIDI plugin like Audiomodern Riffer, harvest plugins, scaler, captain chords, venomode phrasebox, etc.
    Free samples are everywhere so if you’re reading this and are open to some other ideas than loop subscriptions, I’d look into a setup like:
    - sforzando
    - free sample packs
    - audiomodern riffer + Playbeat

    • @DirtySecretz
      @DirtySecretz  3 роки тому

      I agree in many ways, I think starting from a sample can be a great way of getting an idea going but having an idea and then trying to find something to then match it can be harder. Generally the only times I hit sample site are for inspiration (i.e. right at the start) or when I'm trying to find those finishing touches - so once I've got a melody/bassline down then finding a vocal, FX or other melodic feature. When searching sample sites I think you almost need to have an open mind as to what you want to find because I may _think_ I want a guitar however I might find a synth line that works well. That's often why when I'm searching for samples I'll just filter by key and often leave the instrument type open, can be interesting what you find.

    I just cancelled my Splice subscription after about a year and a half. Splice has seen a steady decline in quality and content, and seems to almost exclusively cater to the kids that make "Trap" (whatever the f- that is) by using pre-made loops. Also, they have not released any new presets for Sylenth1 or Serum for a very long time. And the last nail in the coffin is their involvement in politics and the "Support Black Creators" thing.
    I do not want to give my money to such a shitty company anymore, so i'm hoping Loopmasters is the place i am looking for.
