I use both. I use neither. I use one or the other. My favorite way to kill creative block is to just find a great musical loop in splice and change basics like the tempo n key, then build a song around that sample which inspired me, and when my work is full enough, mute the splice loop, and fill in the sonic space for whatever seems to be missing without that loop. So I end up with totally original work, but can get moving instantly.
I do that mentally. I may have a portion of an actual song replaying in my head and I’ll build a melody, rhythm, harmony, etc around it until I have something original. I’ll then actually make what’s in my head sans any sample. It really does help with creativity.
I knew I made the right choice subscribing to your channel months ago! You never cease to fail us! And your music is incredible, it’s the most soothing thing to listen to!
One thing you didn't mention is that unlike other "monthly" payment plans, the overall cost via the rental plan ends up being the same as if you bought the plugin in a single payment! Usually what happens in monthly plans is that they add "interest" (or some other way of increasing the overall cost). So Splice is really doing a great thing by not doing that.
@@flyvalentino9621 No they do have monthly payments, but if you just want to download a bunch of samples, you can do a month, get whichever samples you need, put them on your computer, and then they're yours and you don't need to keep a subscription.
Really well done video! I just moved out from garageband into FL studios, and I was thinking about getting one of these but I wasn't sure which one so this video was super helpful! Thank you!
Arcade totally changed how I throw in my vocals, the time it saves me slicing down clips alone makes it worth the money. Running it along side serum makes it so op idc what genre
Great video by the way. Love your playing! Coming from a fellow musician, your opinion is golden on the matters between the 2 formats.I am currently in search of a subscription platform for aux instruments, guitar loops, perc loops etc. Thanks for your breakdown of these platforms. Love your music bro. Peace and Blessings!
Great video - thank you! I am looking primarily for drum loops with some lo-fi and other coloring and texture (not just acoustic drum sample loops). Are either of these platforms particularly preferable for this purpose or is there another platform out there that I should be looking at?
I'm at the crossroads.... which way to go? 🤷♂ thanks for the insight Patrick. Cost is always an issue, so I was leaning towards Splice... but then I noticed this on the Arcade website's FAQ: "Arcade is flexible. There are no pesky contracts and no commitments. You can easily cancel your account online. There are no cancellation fees - start or stop your account anytime." Start and stop at anytime with no cancellation fees!? I'm in! Not sure if Splice does this but I will start with Arcade for a couple of months... starting with the free trial.
CHEERS PATRICK. I've just subscribed to Arcade and your channel, looking forward to creating some new sounds. love your music and style. god bless. Esther Hendricks
Seriously impressed with you and those guitars, as well as how you demoed these services. Literally, I was trying to decide on one pot these services today and ran across your post. You helped me made my decision, BOTH... at least over time. Get to know one and then the other.
Great overview. I had watched your review of the Jamstick Sound studio Midi guitar, days before came across this video. Nice to see you using it to build a track!
I have 3 months of trial and I can open arcade on standalone but everytime i open on my fl studio it keep saying I am offline although i am not offline.Anybody know why I am facing this issue. Thanks
D'Angelico fan? ;). Great video! I've been using Splice (I always have over 1000 credits unused it seems) for maybe two years but want to try Arcade. They have a 30 day trial so this was well-timed. Splice is a semi-organized no-real-workflow BIG bucket of loops and hits (with poor search. I've noticed) - so, I generally have to stumble through it to find tasty loops. I think having more of the workflow built into the Plug-in (and some of the DAW features: re-keying, slice & dice, etc.) might well make more sense to me.
The only time I’ve ran into a copyright issue was with a drum beat I got from splice, and it flagged UA-cam’s copyright claim. I disputed (because it’s a royalty free drum beat that I manipulated and made my own) and the claim was dropped. I think you’re safe as long as you’re maniple your samples and making them your own. (i.e. time stretching, chopping, pitch shifting) The odds of someone else doing exactly what you did are very slim.
Does Arcade have SFX samples? Like gunshots and animal sounds for example. Its not the main thing we are looking for in Softwares like these, but as a Splice user I find it surprisingly useful to have access to tons of SFX.
Hello Patrick, what editing paltforme do you use, I use mpc beats, is it me or is it not user friendly?? I also use Filmora and audacity for my video editing and I can navigate them fine, so is MPC overly complicated? Thanks!! Slice it is then, thanks!!
@05:11 might be tryna get my hands on that jamstick! couldn't get ur link to work tho😭maybe i'm tweakin but i tried a few different browsers. anyways, thank for this video... sold me on heavenly keys! 🧨
Is he using loops or are these sound example for an instrument on splice? I dont understand why he uses loops or samples I woulld make my own or create own sounds. So splice ist mostly for samples and loops and Output for plugins and instruments?
Nice video, Patrick! I found terms and the apos with Loopcloud much better than Splice, but things have changed since you created this video. Love your music 😁
It's better to use the instruments in arcade then the loops it's avoids the grey area of someone hitting you with copyright when using the instruments it's just like any standard vst
Yes, finally! I was looking forward to this. I demo’d Splice last month and it was just okay for me. It’s not something I’d pay for month to month because I already have great one shots from Ableton and my Machine Mikro. As for Arcade, I will demo it this month and see how it goes. What I need is really just “sprinkles on top” and not a crazy amount of one shots when I tried Splice (but I got a few loops too) and soon, Arcade. Great video, Patrick! 🙌
@@stonebrownmusic3627 Hey Dennis, I pick Arcade over Splice. If you need a lot of one shots daily, Splice is great but for my needs, mostly some loops and the option to get creative with it and so I stuck with Arcade. I might hop into Splice again every 4 or 6 months to get some fresh one shots. Splice's strong suit is their one shots than the loops on there, in my honest opinion. With my tracks, what I usually do is build a track from scratch and then pull up Arcade for some variety and additional ear candy.
I was considering both and stumbled upon ur vid. Seems that Splice upped there entry monthly fee to $10. Would you still consider it 🤔 as you thought $10 was high for Arcade?
Hey quick question, If I make some beat using one of these tools and their loops and keys but I make my own mix of it then upload it into one of my youtube videos, is it royalty-free? do I own the royalty to that track at that point?
Very cool, but I became immediately disinterested with the monthly fee...for a VST? I'm a one time purchase kind of guy. Subscriptions are for monthly magazines and newspapers, not software!

I assume since Arcade is plug-in (I have 3 or so other Output Plug-ins) it will hit the cpu much more than just a imported WAV loop from Slice.
