    • @Red_Bull2
      @Red_Bull2 2 роки тому +61

      It’s not unrealistic at all actually, the reason the independent is snapping the train back on is back the slack in the train is doing most of the work. The weight of the back end is pulling the train back on when slams the independent.

      @@0638 No, the fraction and the speed would likely derail it, but the brake force can definitely hold it back.

    • @Red_Bull2
      @Red_Bull2 Рік тому

      @@0638 No because your forgetting that gravity works in more than one way. First off the there is friction in the rails, that holding the wheels on. The wheels spinning creates a force that holds them on called centripetal force. And finally because the train is pulling and not pushing, there is slack in between each car. So when he applies the independent break is pulls that slack and then it springs back, pushing the train through the curve.

    • @rmgilyard
      @rmgilyard Рік тому +9

      No because the force of the independent on 1206 and the cars is strong enough to hold back 777’s weight.

      The perfect representation of the old guard and the new. A reminder that the old is not always out of touch as supposed, and the new is not always resistant to learning from the past. It took both their skill sets to overcome, and a willingness to come together in crisis. It’s in the the fire that the worst of humanity is burned away and the best exposed for the world to see.

      Yeah with the weight and speed the train was going. There is no way the guy at the back could have hit the breaks and have it pull back.

    As much as this movie is a guilty pleasure of mine, I can't believe they were able to call this "based on a true story" when almost nothing that happened in his movie even resembles the real-life incident.
    -Nobody actually died, nor were any train cars or an engine destroyed.
    -There is no such thing as Stanton or the Stanton Curve, which is actually part of the Bellaire viaduct on a private rail line.
    -Adding to that, the real-life site used for the curve never had fuel tanks below the tracks because...common sense?
    If this movie just wrapped up like a usual action movie I would have no problem with it, but then they try to tell you what happened to the characters at the end of the movie as if they have real-life equivalents just seems really misleading. Hell, the name of the offending train engineer was never even officially made public.

      the word based means that the directors got inspiration from the real fact, not that they actually did the same that happened, also the fact of adding what happened to their lives is something very common in all tupíes of movies

      basically the only thing it has in common was it was based on a runaway incident.

      They never claimed that it was "based on a true story". The actual tagline is (correctly) "inspired by true events".

    They used General Electric AC4400CW locomotives from Canadian Pacific and Electro Motive Division SD40-2 locomotives from the Wheeling and Lake Erie Railroad for this movie. The GE Locomotives played 777 and 767 while the EMD locomotive played 1206.

    This is controlled mayhem at its finest - so many cameras combined with trains and helicopters and having to direct all this in combination with safety is mind boggling especially the low altitude of the helicopters. Tony Scott always had a frenetic camera style with constant movement especially the fast closeups and tracking shots and sharp jump cuts and of course the panning camera on the train which amplifies it further. The poor editor must have had a field day on this movie. RIP Tony Scott - he committed suicide in 2011 by jumping off a bridge after this movie was made and apparently he was diagnosed with cancer. This was his last ever movie.
