Please join me as I share how I easily created these beautiful, Boho inspired Paper Beads. This is a super simple, easy project that is fun for adults and children of all ages (with supervision when warranted of course :)

Thank you for the inspiration to get me going again! I've made lots of beads..my favorite were made from flower calendars...the paper was nice & strong & colorful. I also made beads from old textbooks, personalizing bracelets with certain words from a story. For instance, I made peace brooches for some friends by using text from a meditation book. Words such as love, peace, forgiveness, hope, acceptance were incorporated into my beads which were then threaded onto a safety pin & worn as a brooch.
Such a variety! I like the sanded look. I never would have thought of that!
I've made a few and used on a junk journal. It's been about a year ago. Watching this makes me want to make them again. They are fun and I want to try sanding some. That's a cool idea!

I used a drop of nail polish on wax paper and my bead on a skewer and rolled to thru the polish they looked cool and didn’t have a big mess...used the wax paper to make another set of beads

Really Nice Caly 💜 I'm a Pro when it comes to paper beads lol I've made them with lots of different materials they're so addictive I coat them twice with water based polyurethane it protects them a little more......but really they came out very boho chic 💜

LOVE THESE ... they are so beautiful, fun stuff that i think i will do in winter months. I have yet to get all crafting organized. Cali you gift us in so many ways .. thank you... Have it added to boho bead collection So calming to hear you explain it knowing you love us and want to share. Thank you so much for your positivity and outlook on life. Feeling a bit beaten down with them taking away our PTO .. paid time off that we contributed to at work. NO VACA is what it boils down to. SO either move to another state or take five minute vacas in my head whenever I need them. ah well. it is what it is. Guidance is needed and will come to me. if I am open to it. Hi Cali, I dip my paper beads into water based polyurethane between each dip I let the beads dry and I do this three times and let me tell you the beads are as hard as rocks it's amazing. Have a beautiful week. 🥀🤗

Thank You Cali! You have inspired me to go make some beads now. I am wondering if there is a way you could do the nail polish "marbling" effect by putting the nail polish in the water then dipping the paper in to pick up the colors BEFORE you roll the beads. Maybe that would give something close to the same marbling effect with less mess. IDK. Just trying to help. Thanks again for the video, beautiful beads!

Have you ever tried making them with polymer clay? I roll a bunch of them with clay, bake them, then I paint them with various nail polish. I do nail art too so I have hundreds of colours lying around!

As your papers are so beautiful, with the tapered beads, the first piece of paper that you're discarding, if you just change the angle of the base of the triangle, it will be the same shape as the other pieces, just fractionally shorter 🙂
For Barbara McDonald. To make your beads thick like you want try using newspapers. It will get them re-cycled & make something beautiful.

i loved this tutorial . my favorite was the last one with the blue paper??? they are stunning. was the paper blue to begin with? I am gathering all the things I need to do this and the POW you show the blue ! I just must recreate them . did you buy the paper ? Interesting technique Cali and one that I would love to try. I've never worked with paper beads before and was wondering if I could do a barrel bead, but on a much larger scale. I was thinking of alternating large barrel beads about 2" long (instead of your 1") and about 1" thick with a much smaller (possibly even round) beads. Is that too much for the glue to tackle? Please, what is your instinct on this? Would that work or would that be too heavy? Many thanks
So happy to hear that you are inspired to try some Barbara.... I think it would work very well but honestly I say just experiment and give it a go...they are very durable and I think the glue would be fine depending on the thickness of the paper you are using....Let me know how it works out :)
