Really helpful. Here's a summary: 1. start with in place walk cycle 2. NLA -> choose action and armature -> strip options (right side, in NLA) -> action clip -> repeat animation several times, speed up animation 3. Now back to timeline - view from above - add path (top menu) - rotate path (left side) - tab for edit mode - select vertice and keep pressing E to extrude path. 4. To see which way path goes. Tab for edit mode - select path - overlays (top) - click "normals". 5. To move character to start of path. object mode -> select path, select character, ctrl P, parent using "path constraint" 6. To change direction of path -> edit mode, select (entire!) path, right click "switch direction". 7. Now parent character to path again using "path constraint" (after direction change of path) 8. Change orientation of character. Object mode. Select character -> "constraints" on right properties menu. Forward axis - -Z, Up Axis: Y. check "follow path". Click "animate path". 9. If character does not move, set Up Axis to Z. 10. If character slides along path - obj mode - select path -> Data (object data properties) on right -> path animation -> set frames higher (250). Now should work.
thank you for this, for anyone having trouble setting their object to the exact point of geometry origin, hit alt + g in object mode and it will place your armature/object at the beginning of the curve
THANKYOU THANKYOU THANKYOU There is so much I don't know about blender. I am so far out of my league on this. You are very informative. You just showed me what I need to do to solve a problem I have been dealing with for DAYS
bro i loove you so much man omfg ive been looking for help for almost 2hrs for a project because i couldnt find why my object was goind to the end of the curve thank you such god bless brother!!!!
Amazing tutorial!! Thank you very much!!! It helped a lot!! I'm having a problem: after the path ends, my character keeps moving to infinity and beyond instead of stopping at the end of the pathline.. Has anyone had this problem and knows how to fix it? Thank u!!
I've just figured the solution: following step 10, in path animation, there was a checked box named "follow". I unchecked this one and checked another called "clamp" and it worked.
Hi! Thank you so much for your video.I'm not fluent in English, but I'll try to explain my issue. I have a problem, and I don't know if anyone can help me, or if you can. I would be truly grateful because I don't know what else to do. I'm practicing and I added the animation to one of my characters. Everything seems fine, but the animation loops and doesn't progress along the path. I did everything as you showed us, but nothing works. What do you think I might be doing wrong? Or what would be the solution? Thank you for your help T-T.
Hi...follow the tutorial below to make the character walk continuously and later make the character follow the path...ua-cam.com/video/8D09762TQ_0/v-deo.htmlsi=BsaBkEwZ829mUqrB
How do you fix the walk so it is proportionally fast to the character movement on the path? Otherwise it just looks like the character is being dragged around rather than walking on a path! Thank you!!
thank you for this tutorial , i have a problem in exporting i mean in blender all seams ok with the annimation but when i exported to fbx i didn't get the npc following the path and i get the error message multiple skeleton found when i tried to upload in the game any help please
This following function is so awesome, and this video is dope. But I have an additional question: I want to stop my object on the line for a couple seconds and then continue the route to the end. Can you or anyone help me with this?
I have done everything right but my character is only walking up to the last keyframe on the timeline which is at 24 and if I get the end to 250 my character starts to slide at the corners on the path...how can I fix this?..someone help me
On my Blender RGBA animation, the same glitch keeps happening. When the object - no matter what it is - enters the camera view, IT HESTATES FOR ONE SECOND BEFORE CONTINUING ACROSS THE SCREEN. It does it with a simple cube or a complex object (Japanese Zero) or anything else. Everything else is fine but that one little tick as it enters view. What is happening?
@@Baluprime it has that option called something like clip, to stop where the path ends. But now I have different problem, the key frames from timeline are gone and when I try to add different one after the walk path ends, it would cancel all the walk done before and start completely new key frame. Guess this is only for 1 walk animation alone and nothing added
When I select the armature and then the path and click CTRL - P to parent - path constraint, my character disappears!! Does anyone know how to fix this? Thank you!
@@Baluprime So I figured out that when I create my path in edit mode, if it is not in top view, it gets created in all 3 axes and then when I Scale it to 0 on the Z so it flattens out, you lose your object when you try to parent it to the path for some reason.
