Editable motion path would be sweet! Blender is missing a lot of great animation tools I still miss from Maya, but the software has evolved tremendously since I switched just 4 years ago so the sky is the limit!
Great video! I'm now learning to animate in Blender, coming from Autodesk Maya, not to replace but to be able to learn that skill. The edible motion arc tracker is a must, and for me also the ability to have non weighted tangents in the graph editor.
Absolutely agree! The motion path tool in Blender feels so janky... I don't think it can really be a credible professional animation tool until it has real-time editable motion paths in the viewport.
@@Fasty I agree that the motion path tool is super janky, but, I gotta say, I was pretty amused by the idea that Blender isn't yet a "credible animation tool"... 🤣
Incredible! I didn't really understand the power of this tool as I didn't really take the time to understand it. Thanks for this thorough explanation of how to use the Motion Path tool. I'll definitely incorporate it into my workflow now. I just want to add, your approach to explaining the "why" for each step is welcomed for Blender tutorials.
Oh, finally someone covers the motion path tool. Without knowing the way your object (or part of it) takes and the duration it takes for it to reach , you are working on blind. (Also, make sure everything organic moves in an arc)
I've been following you for years and I it seems sometime in the middle of this year I will have like 2 months of free time and I cant just wait to get my hands on your alive animation curse. Your animation skills are insane!
HOW HAVE I NEVER HEARD OF THIS BEFORE?! this is amazing!!! Being able to someday edit the path itself built into blender would be amazing. For now i goes guess drawing the arc you want with the grease pencil and then using it as a guide to get the curve on line with it will have to do... Would buy that addon if i wasn't broke at the moment😅
I actually really like the motion trails 3D addon you brought up at the end, I've been using it for a few weeks and its pretty nice. Though I'd much prefer if Blender had a built-in feature for it.
Thanks for another great tips video Pierrick. Learning to make the most productive use of the motion path tool was one of the really valuable things I got out of your Alive! course.
Excellent!!! Thank you for sharing. Your instruction video is about the best illustrative lesson I've seen. I like the way you breath life into the animation aspect as others do on the modeling side.
I came from 2D animation and i always struggled with 3D until i found Motion pathing , its like Onion skin for 3D, you need it . BUT I really wish Motion paths could be toggled to show the orientation of the bone on that frame, that would be a great help too
Je trouve que votre message içi est bien communiqué, et facile a suivre et a comprendre pour moi comme anglophone. Merci bien pour vos vidéos - il faut maintenant que je cherche les autres pour que je gagne plus d'informations aussi util ! Thank you!
I LOVE BLENDER. Been using it for 3-4 years. I don't know why, but the animation part of it is such a daunting task, and often scares me away. Even though I have a firm understanding of keyframe animation (AE) and have watched lot of rigging tutorials. - I still shy away from this.
Thank you Pierrick for another great video! Your channel has helped me a lot to overcome difficult problems in animation and rigging. Would you consider for the future doing a bird rig with foldable wings? Currentlly is very difficult to find a good tutorial on how to rig a bird in Blender. Again thank you for your videos.
i knew that already but i gotta say the editing of this video is very good, with the marked areas its very easy to follow what you say. keep up the good work, awesome tutorials!
Well there's one edge case for video games where you care about only one angles. Sidescrolling games. I'm actually glad more games are taking advantage of this (the latest to date being Mario Wonder but a few have done it before like Guilty Gear Xrd/Strive) because it shows the power of traditional 2D animation for 3D. It can't be applied to all games sure, but I think this will quickly become a cornerstone to making good looking sidescrolling 3D animations !
The blender devs are working on a system that is visual like motion paths but allows you to directly change the shape of it and the timing. All on that curve itself in viewport . Can't wait. That will be soo revolutionary and massive time saver.
Insane quality vidéo man !! Thx you so much !! Sub and bell on 🎉 The clarity and simplicity and tempo of this video is really impressive, cant wait to check more of your content !

A delight to see that level of talent.
Pierrick, I just bought your alive course and absolutely loved it, but recenlty i discovered new program for animation called Cascadeur, whats your thoughts on this program? Will it leave big impact on animation inudstry? Tbh im a little concerned that my new achioved skills will go on waste, but whats mine thats mine tho
Question...I'm thinking to do your course...I want to do great animations for my character for a game...question...do game engines use BONES only? Noob question I know. I just see your bones turn into an armature and alot of blender rigs like rigify turn into a armature or whatever it turns the bones into or use for animations with the controls....do you just need bones for a game engine?
Been using this recently and it's a really handy tool, but the one downside is that it starts becoming very laggy after using it for a while. Even if you reduce the frame length to the bare minimum it'll still make Blender run very slow if you used motion paths elsewhere. And the only solution i could find is just starting a brand new blend file. Is there some sort of motion path cache that we should be clearing?
@@PierrickPicaut_P2DESIGN The thing is that it works fine when I first start animating, it strangely only starts slowing down after a set period of time for each project file. Real shame since it actually helps keep track of curves in the viewport.
Hi!, Im interesting to buy the Alive course but I have some a questions, can I follow the course with a characther that use riggify or is better use the characther provide by Pierrick?
Hello, I want to bring my animation skills to the next level and I am considering your courses. Should I start with the rigging course or can I do the animation course first and later at some point do the rigging course?
