Love their performance of "Can't Find My Way Home" in this same Hyde Park concert.

From their only album, from 1969, " Blind Faith", this was a smash album making it to Number 1 in the US, UK and Canada.
With two thirds of Cream, Ginger Baker and Eric Clapton, Steve Winwood fromThe Spencer David Group and Rick Grech of Family, this is a perfect combination for extraordinary results achieved.
With the extended magnifcent drum solo, the ringing guitars and the whirling organ, and the backing of the hit Take Five, just a sensational performance as is the whole album. All tracks on the album had vocals by Steve Winwood. Just another groovy tune from the 70's. Great reaction Harri. Thanks Harri and Jami. 👏👏 Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦

In my opinion Steve Winwood is a musical genius. Blind Faith was one of the first "Super Groups" that I recall hearing. His work with the group "Traffic" is timeless. Great reaction. Take care.

Steve Winwood burst into prominence in 1963 at the age of 15 with the Spencer Davis Group who had a string of chart-topping hits. Around 1967, he left the Spencer Davis Group and became a co-founder of another great group, Traffic (check this group out). Roughly two years later Winwood left Traffic to form a new group, Blind Faith, with Eric Clapton, Ginger Baker, and Rick Grech. They became the Rock's first supergroup, evidenced by their #1 hit and only album. Jami A, your selection of "Do What You Like" is one of an album full of blockbuster hits.
Jami - This is a superb selection and performance by Blind Faith. Harri, your review comments were spot-on! 👏👏

Yes they were a super group. Besides the two you noticed there was Eric Clapton on guitar and vocals and Ric Grech on bass who was in Traffic and other groups. They were together for 1yr, made an album and toured. It is a great album.

Ginger baker's solo on the album is a classic. He lives up to it here live. Like you Harri, the fans 'preciate who's on stage.

Not long after Blind Faith split up, Ginger travelled across North Africa and landed in Nigeria, where he collaborated with Fela Kuti. Those are remarkable sessions worth searching for on UA-cam. There's a documentary about his 'trip.'

Saw Ginger touring with Air Force after his African travels and inspirations - an awesome percussionist and drummer. Brilliant.

    Eric Clapton was there too!!
It wasn’t intended to be another super-group - but when Cream disbanded, Clapton & Baker were both at a loose end looking for another vehicle - and kind of drifted into Blind Faith, since they both knew Stevie already. However, it sadly all self-destructed after only one summer.
“Can’t Find my Way Home” was a MUCH better song from the very same concert - you should try that later Harri.

You ask how many bands Steve Winwood was in? Well, at 16 his first 'major' band was the Spencer Davis Group, (I'm A Man, Gimme Some Lovin') then Traffic, and this brief existence with Blind Faith ('69) and of course his own band.

This was the summer of 69 in Hyde Park, London. For some reason the video editing cut out Eric Clapton who was also in this band. He and Ginger hooked up with Steve Winwood and Rick Grech not long after Cream broke up for this very short lived group.

I would like to see the unedited version of this live version. Cutting Clapton out was a sin of the highest order. I heard the vinyl version first, and was sadly dissappointed with their live rendition.

@@donnyb3452 From years of hearing Steve and Eric talk about Blind Faith, and a few of the writers from that era commenting on conversations with them, it's pretty clear they weren't comfortable pursuing another Super Group. They just didn't have their hearts into it. As for the recording quality, it was 1969 when even a lot of studio recordings weren't that great. Live recordings were usually worse.

Stevie hasn't been with that many groups. Spencer Davis, Traffic, Blind Faith, Traffic, solo. Eric has been with many more. Ginger did a fair amount of session work. Ric had been with Family.
This is the Hyde Park concert (1969) where they were under rehearsed. Best thing from that set was "Under My Thumb"

Blind Faith was indeed a supergroup. Eric Clapton with Steve Winwood, Ginger Baker, Rick Gretch.

The only time they played NYC I was their in the balcony. When the left the stage the audience demand was so loud and insistent they refused to play an encore. A shame. Still a great experience, although frankly, they were boring onstage. The other bands to play that night were Delaney and Bonnie and Free. Both were rather more interesting and exciting. The greatest days man.

Love the Brubeck "Take Five" vibe (nicely spotted, Harri) this tune has! One of my favorites from the album - actually they're all favorites.

At the risk of being wrong, I'll say I think this song is in a 5/4 time signature. Definitely counts five beats per measure, but I don't know that it might be in 5/8(?). Doesn't matter which it is...definitely five beats per measure, just like "Take Five". Good catch! Going on recollection...I started to google it but I'm too lazy...all of The Dave Brubeck Quartet's album "Time Out" was in odd time signatures...3/4, 5/4, 9/4... I'm pretty sure too that this song was directly influenced by "Take Five". I may be wrong., of course.

Unfortunately this track has been severely edited. You are missing fabulous solos by Rick Gretch on bass and Eric Clapton on guitar. Listen to the studio version of this song and the whole album. You will not regret that. Blind Faith's live performances were colored by the frustrations that the members felt about various issues that made them fall apart too soon.

You might want to give the "vinyl version" a spin. The live cut falls short on many levels; the extended, mind blowing solos, and the ending are more captivating than their live version. Just one old hippies opinion, but, what have you got to loose?

This is a WAY shortened version of the studio track, does not in any way do justice to the song, the solos, or the musicians. Its ok, but a travesty compared to the studio album version. By the way, Blind Faith also featured Eric Clapton on lead guitar and Rick Grech on bass.

I agree 100%. The engineering on that album was genius, as well. If you can find the CD version of the vinyl, there are additional 'rehearsal' cuts on it.
