Hello Mr I Iord and David Nice to see you, thank you for sharing your talents and I love that you put plant names on the screen, take care both ❤ 🏴
John great to see you again. Yes you need to make those videos. Your garden is beautiful and don’t let the kids ruin your garden playing hide and seek. You can say something. It’s your garden.
Thank you for this video! You are so full of energy. You put new plants into soil in such a easy way. I will be planting some drought and deer resistant plants in my front yard in San Antonio, Texas. USA.
I love your videos John! You’re so busy and I always imagine you’re being hunted down 😂 looking over you shoulder all the time. ‘I’ll just get this plant in before they catch me!’ 😂 I’d love to visit your place. It’s just fab!
Another great video, missed your videos for the last few weeks so I've been watching some of your older vids. Really appreciate your love and enthusiasm for gardening.
For six years I tried all sorts of plants in my wet/damp area and everything died. Last year I planted Hosta 'Sum & Substance' wow they love that damp area. They're already thriving this spring. They're huge & very healthy.
Good to see you back. I’m here in Texas thinking it would take me an hour to dig 3 holes for these size plants in my heavy dry clay soil. You’re a true inspiration however (although I stick to native as much as possible).
Thank you, John. Always consider your videos an unexpected gift - and today's is a birthday gift! We also have finally got some nice weather here in Shelburne, Ontario - though we will have a chance of frost next week with lows of 3'C. Still, it was good to get out and tidy up the gardens. Now if only I had soil like yours!
I didn't know not to pack plants down in heavy soil.. I just hear, firm your plants down to get rid of air pockets, then water them in to get rid of any pockets in the soil, and as well as to water them.
John the walking plant encyclopedie In Holland we have clay ground really great for all sort of plants This time of year it,s harvesting time for the beutiful pionies 1000 are growing around oure area Evryone enjoy youre beutiful garden
I had the subtitles on since I speak Bronx and was amused to see they alternated describing those helicopters as applause or music!! I recently planted a Geum Totally Tangerine and so far it is a lovely plant! (Also got anAmethyst in .snow Centaurea # lovely too!)
Nature is the best plant designer and the best teacher. So we must learn from it. And you are showing us that. Wish I had your energy and enthusiasm though. Enjoyable to watch as always 😊👍
Nice to see David and John post again.... one of life great sayings is never take anything for granted .... so i'll just enjoy the rewarding uploads as and when infrequently as they are posted. Personally lost my big blue last year but thankfully had taken some root cuttings previously ...it's an absolute stunning plant and it's rewarding to see bumblebee's just clamped on it.... still have my big blue mini plants in long thin containers which i've placed on the soil....not sure if that's stupid but the thinking is not to water log them again and maybe it will be easier to take root cuttings in the future. Oh well...i may forever have the Learner plate up in terms of gardening ability ...but the garden is looking pretty good according to my humble eyes. Be well both (and Teddy)
Great to see you back. Could you do a video on your top 20 summer plants? Also how do you trim the Echium? Do you cut the stems like an Euphobia? Thank you
I just planted some Ligularia 'the rocket' the other week! Lots of holes appearing in the middle of the leaves. I'm not sure that it's slugs, but I've put a good layer of dried egg shells around just in case.
I notice how John doesn’t release roots in pot bound plants before setting them in the hole, which we’re always told to do. Has he ever talked about this?
Great to see you back John, just an idea if you are running out of ideas for vids could you go back and show previous borders you planted up last year and some results of your pruning that at the time could have gone either way !
Mr Lord, What is the Fargesia/bamboo (?) variety growing behind the Ligularia that starts the video? I'm using a Fargesia for a screen in the NY USA area (zone 7/6) and if it does anything like what you have going on there I'll be happy with it. Clumping Bamboo, is that what you have there? Many thanks!
Envious of your Ligularia (and Rodgersia) ... tried them in my yard ... ground is too hard and dry ... large tree roots suck the moisture out and mine didn't survive.
What fun. Just came in from 6 hours in my garden, and get to watch another enthusiastic gardener😁 I too have clay soil, but the rocks make digging a chore. Do you ever amend the soil with compost or manure, or is everything in your garden planted in native soil with no fertilizing?
I sometimes mix in organic matter of some sort, ordinary compost or bark to open up the soil and I never compact the soil after planting. Plants themselves are great soil modifiers
I'm speaking on behalf of the 37.6k subscribers. We've missed you John!! A week just isn't the same without a video from ya matey.
Amen!!
Whole heartedly agree 😍 can never enough or long enough 🤗
I could watch you garden all day! Your enthusiasm is motivating & entertaining!! Best wishes john
Hello Mr I Iord and David Nice to see you, thank you for sharing your talents and I love that you put plant names on the screen, take care both ❤ 🏴
Great video John...you make gardening good fun...those helicopters were obviously on patrol for that pesky wabbit - as Elmer Fudd would say...😆🐇
John great to see you again. Yes you need to make those videos. Your garden is beautiful and don’t let the kids ruin your garden playing hide and seek. You can say something. It’s your garden.
Wow I’m tired just watching you work. You certainly don’t mess around. Thanks for sharing your garden. 👍❤️😊

Glad someone else from Texas is watching John . I took me 2 days to dig holes to plant 5 bare root roses 2 weeks ago...
I’m in Louisiana and with you guys, digging in the clay 😥 I just can’t get over his energy! Makes me realize how slow I am 😒
John you crack me up! But most importantly you make me smile!

Totally transfixed! Many thanks, John- from Northern California 🙏🏽
Lol John speaking of rabbit damage. We had a rabbit eating a hollyhock I planted!
I don't mind.
I've got a load of seedlings planted for next year.
Just what I needed, John Lord and garden center
I just planted some Ligularia 'the rocket' the other week!
Lots of holes appearing in the middle of the leaves. I'm not sure that it's slugs, but I've put a good layer of dried egg shells around just in case.
It's slugs 😬

I was wondering the same thing!
I never do that and never had a problem
Fab thanks! Missed you ☺️
John don't you loosen the soil/roots around the rootball before planting? Thinking of the Sea Holly ...
Good seeing ya John ..best on UA-cam
Hi John! From Tennessee in America👋🏻
Great to see you back John, just an idea if you are running out of ideas for vids could you go back and show previous borders you planted up last year and some results of your pruning that at the time could have gone either way !
Man…. He knows his stuff doesn’t he
I love watching and listening to you John. Im so glad you are back. What hydrangea variety was behind the Moinshi e Achillea you planted please.?
Mr Lord,
What is the Fargesia/bamboo (?) variety growing behind the Ligularia that starts the video?
I'm using a Fargesia for a screen in the NY USA area (zone 7/6) and if it does anything like what you have going on there I'll be happy with it.

Envious of your Ligularia (and Rodgersia) ... tried them in my yard ... ground is too hard and dry ... large tree roots suck the moisture out and mine didn't survive.
Same thing happened to me but i kept them wet. Didnt help. Not enough sun
Hes back!!!
The speed John plants…. That would take me half an hour 🤣
What fun. Just came in from 6 hours in my garden, and get to watch another enthusiastic gardener😁 I too have clay soil, but the rocks make digging a chore. Do you ever amend the soil with compost or manure, or is everything in your garden planted in native soil with no fertilizing?
Hi,.
if you have clay soil wet in winter and dry in summer dig in lots of gravel and manure to improve things.Hope will your gardening problem
I sometimes mix in organic matter of some sort, ordinary compost or bark to open up the soil and I never compact the soil after planting. Plants themselves are great soil modifiers
I don't have a fence! My garden has become a study on how to deter the deer herd! Having a dog does help!
I love John Lord
Kermit,lol!
God designed all the plants. That's why it looks designed ! K
is it possible to mention in which zone you are?
Has any one ever seen a gardener plant so fast? What is he eating and drinking?
You forgot to pick up the plant you dug out of the ground 😉
John, do you sell your shirts in Ratoath?
John where is "Teddy"
Come and weed my garden please... I've got a sore back. 😩 Great videos. Learnt a lot.
