Liriope are EVERYWHERE in Australia as well, probably even moreso than the US. They are used in so many council/commercial/shopping center plantings along with Dianella and Lomandras.

Amazed you say dry for Bergenias, John. I'm a fairly novice gardener, started mainly with bits & pieces taken (with consent!) from my parents' garden, including a common-or-garden Bergenia. Its growing really well in pretty damp light shade, on clay soil which has had loads of garden compost dug in over last couple years . I've a septic tank under the lawn which means the lawn & north-facing main border never dry out & quite boggy in winter months. It seems happy, I've divided part of it off this year & that one's doing well also. If I have a plant that divides easily, I'll put bits around the garden to see how they do, as things don't seem to always go by the books!
Absolutely LOVE your videos, thankyou so much. You're a super inspiring gardener!

John we visited your beautiful garden last Monday when on holiday. We always call in when we’re in the south to bring home some nice plants for our garden. Your pond is a sight to behold! We were very sorry we didn’t have the grandchildren with us to see it. We’ll just have to make a return journey!

I am amazed how you can see tiny little plants hiding in the mulch! Loved your anecdote about the plant growing in the trees, which most people don’t see because they’re looking at the road they’re driving on! Love your sense of humor.

I have been cleanig out my shed and tool chest, and thought I would relax with one of you videos and a cup of tea.I am now re energised, and feel able to finish the job. There is not much gardening I can do as it is so dry here in the SE of England that my heavy clay soil has turned as hard as concrete! I baled out the bath the other day to keep the front garden alive, But I can feel a hosepipe ban creeping closer.

Thank you for the list of plant names. Sometimes I'll take a photo (with my phone) of the screen to remember the name of a plant. I wish that I was able to find some of the excellent cultivars in my home state that you have available over there.

Liriope very popular in Oz too. I think Helen Dillon said Buddleja "doesn't die well"

Thank you for another wonderful video. This year is the first time I am also growing Lychnis. I planted seeds and am surprised that they’re blooming the first year. I also look around while driving but am careful not to hit anythingLOL. (Usually see amazing birds). I dislike Liriope because it spreads too much plus it is difficult to cut back last year’s foliage in spring. You made a bunch of really hilarious comments which I enjoyed very much.💚😹

I love how you do not amend your native soil, but rely on wood mulch so slowly break down. Excessive amending causes a perched water table, and death to the roots of most plants. Some people do not believe in bucket lists, but I will have to add your garden center to mine. You need to adopt a garden cat or two.

Can you tell me the name of the plant (7:47-8) that you pass by while the caption for Lychnis … is being displayed. Chartreuse, dark stem, deeply lobed with air pink flower sprays? Lovely :)
