  • These are some highlights of my track day at MSR Houston! This was my second track day, and I graduated to level 2 after taking a riding exam followed by an instructor. If you haven't experienced a track day, you most certainly should! This Duke 390 is an absolute joy to rip around the track. As they always say, it's more fun to ride a slow bike fast, than to ride a fast bike slow!

    I'm glad to see yours revs over 6500 RPMs. Mine only has 300 miles and it is super slow do the the break in program. I can't wait to get the mileage on it and have them re-map it.

      I remember exactly how that feels! It feels like the longest few miles ever, doesn’t it? I gladly rev my bike all the way, it’s a super rev-happy little engine; supposedly the main powerband is above 9,000 revs. (It’s more fun too)

    Very satisfying to watch! I’m a total newbie that wants to learn how to properly drive a bike on track but use it around town too. Which would you recommend to learn on - RC390 or Duke 390? I’ve tracked cars for years but this looks more fun 💯

      Thanks for the comment! I'd day for around town the Duke is a more responsible and mature choice - don't get me wrong, the RC is a great bike, but which one will make your wrists hurt more after just an hour of riding? I've gotta say, to address your last point - give me the choice between a slow bike and a fast car, I'll take the bike.

    • @MotoRevs
      @MotoRevs  3 роки тому +8

      Thank you! I appreciate it. If you’re mainly going to be commuting and riding around the city and such, I would strongly recommend the Duke. It’s cheaper, easier on fuel, and smaller; therefore giving you more space to drive through traffic and finding tight parking spots. It’s also a blast to ride fast on some nice twisties! It’s much more fun to ride a slow bike fast, than a fast bike slow.

    • @MotoRevs
      @MotoRevs  3 роки тому +3

      I’d agree with the first bike part; as soon as you are no longer a “beginner rider,” you already have a great great bike to rip around on. The Duke, however, may or may not get a bit small or underpowered as you grow accustomed to its size and engine. But of course, to each his own. I’ve had my Duke for four years and I love it! I hope you’re happy with your decision in purchasing the Duke. It’s a great piece of kit.

    • @MotoRevs
      @MotoRevs  2 роки тому +3

      Absolutely! This is by far the safest, best looking, most powerful (for its small size), and easily the most technologically advanced motorcycle you can get for this price range. The bike fits many budgets, and maintenance is relatively low, especially when compared to its competitors. You can find one new or used for excellent prices. Even after you seem to have outgrown the bike, it will never bore you. I’ll always be an avid advocate for the Duke 390 as the best beginner bike. It’s a very fun and easy to ride bike, and whenever you’re ready for the street, this bike will be super welcoming to ride and will be a pleasure to own.

    • @MotoRevs
      @MotoRevs  2 роки тому +2

      Your bike won’t go past 60 mph? That’s very strange. I’m not quite sure what could cause that. Aside from that, confidence is key! Starting can be somewhat nerve wracking, so staying confident helps enormously. Always look where you wanna go, and just practice. The more you ride, the better you get. For the track specifically, always keep your head pointed where you wanna go, and try now and again leaning your body off the bike to try maintaining the bike upright.

    Awesome ! Got one myself, it's a very capable bike, no one expects it. It could use slightly better suspension, the new models have that option. Personally like the older model better. And it could use a quickshifter, you can use every help you can get when accelerating 🤣
    Is yours completely stock ? Mine is except for an akra silencer and a rapidbike evo, bought the last one for a bit smoother and cooler running engine, gives a slight bit more midrange torque and noticeable less vibrations. Not gonna spend more on it, just ride it and enjoy.

    • @MotoRevs
      @MotoRevs  2 роки тому +2

      Well, if you've been riding dirt bikes, the Duke 390 will feel right at home. Basically a street legal dirtbike with safety features. I've had many friends who ride mainly dirt bikes and trail bikes tell me how similar my hike feels to theirs. And, of course, it would be a bit biased if I recommended the Duke. A supermoto, however, would probably be more at home for you. Much more similar to a dirt bike, and definitely the hooligans' choice.
