I've been a licensed motorcycle rider since 1989, averaging over 10k miles/year since 2003, currently riding a 2009 Concours14. I took a short test ride on a 2020 R3 last week and I want one so bad, I'm considering selling my Concours14. I still have to get my 2003 BMW R1150RT-P running reliably so I can still pack up the kitchen sink and go on long highway trips and Iron Butt rides, but the R3 will be awesome for everything else, from commuting to local twisty roads to weekend trips to the mountains. I'm 51, and a smaller lighter bike is becoming very appealing for regular use; the 688-pound Concours is a king on the highway, but it's a pig of a bike for maneuvering and parking in the city, and a beast to toss around through tight twisty roads. The Beemer and an R3 in the stable should cover all the bases except dirt roads.
CBR500R all the way, perfect amount of power and aftermarket support, I've slapped some raised rear sets and lowered clip-ons on mine and I'm absolutely in love with it.
I recommend the cbr500r as a first bike. I started on a cbr125 and upgraded to the 500 a year later. I've had the 500 for 4 years now and still love it. It has enough power to do whatever you want and is tame enough for new riders to learn on
I haven't even got my endorsement yet. I just only started getting into motorcycles within the last couple weeks and I'm going to look at a 2019 R3 tomorrow for only $3,100
Got me my first bike a couple of weeks ago and yammie noob video help out a lot to find the right one. Got me a 2019 r3 but I think I paid to much but it's all good I love it.. thanks yammie noob
I might be doing this backwards- My first street bike is a Gixxer 1000 (K5), now I'm looking for something a little more comfortable/ reliable. The Gixxer is awesome, on a smooth open road. It's no fun around town or in traffic, it's complicated, everything is expensive, the service intervals are every single time you look at it, and mine is like "afraid to scratch the tank" condition. My second bike will be more of a beater, probably a SV650. Too bad $3500 Busas aren't really a thing anymore.
I see why you like the Duke 390 so much but its hard to seriously consider it when it has so many reliability problems and I'm strapped for cash as it is.
I’ve learned a lot from my R3 BUUT I cannot lie.. I did fiend for more power & the lovely sound of 3 or 4 cyl. Even though I did upgrade, good ol reliable is still in the lineup 👍🏽
@@walkerfharris it’s all about your mindset. I moved on to a mt-09 and the extra CCs aren’t worth it unless you’re constantly getting into races on the freeway (stupid). Yeah it’s pretty fun screaming up to 100 in less than six seconds but honestly that’s all the extra CCs really let you do.

It seems there's a competition of which to get R3 vs Ninja 400 ... I'm leaning towards the 400, well because it says "Ninja" haha. And like how it sits more upright. But then started seeing people say it has issues with false neutrals between gears, and having to replace the clutch every few months. Any knowledge on this?
I’ve had my r3 for about a year and a half now, and I can validate that i am not bored w the bike. If it goes 100+ how can it get boring? Imo unless you’re making money off racing or just a bigger guy there’s no need to guy a 600 or 1000. Learn the fundamentals and maintenance on a r3 and after you get comfortable riding upgrade if you feel the need to. 🤟🏾 all love to my yammie noobs
In asian market, they have r15...it is a 150cc bike with vva headblock....the seating position are more aggresive than the r3...super great for track day and the price is not bad at all....you should search it
Okay so been thinking about getting in to bow riding and after looking at the website for Yamaha I found the r3 then UA-cam sent me here long story short I’m sold it looks better IMO over the cbr 300 so here soon it’s r3 for me thanks man for the video
Cb or cbr? The CBR is a better choice for shorter riders (5'3 and under). R3 all around and Ninja 400 with slightly extra power but 100% still beginner friendly
I bought an 2019 KTM Duke 390. Austrian? Maybe but built in India and the worst thing I’ve ran into is the bolts, screws, etc are garbage. Stripped threads on welded in nuts, and using red lock tight on screws/bolts that hold plastic covers on. Sad cause it’s a great bike.
I got my A1 license(125cc) last week and i already crashed and broke my f*cking elbow yesterday. Rip my ktm duke ... I just wanted to get this of my chest as i am currently in the hospital and have nothing else to do.
Started on R3. Had it for about 2 years but I just sold it and bought an fz8. The r3 was fun but was kinda getting bored of it. Love both bikes but fz8 is way faster and I like the adrenaline rush
It's been 4 years and 50,000 kilometers(india). Hehe. I have never had so much fun on a motorcycle. I do all kinds of fast stupid stuffs at 190kmph! But it makes me pay for my mistakes! Tons of fun, super reliable and amazing smooth tractable offset crank engine!
I would really appreciate it if Yamaha could just give the R3 Assist And Slipper clutch from the factory or the VVA Technology that they have. One more thing, redesign it like the R7 because I think almost all the R-series of Yamaha look the same as the R7 even the new 155cc of Yamaha which is the R15 Version 4 look the same as the R7 with a lot of cool features.

Had no idea that photo was Henning. The internet remembers.
Y’all did a great job with this. Kudos
Just got home from my first ride on the 2020 r3 to work and back!!! First night ride this morning too I’m really loving this little monster
Two words. MT 03 2020. You won't be disappointed. Same engine as r3. Great bike, More comfortable
Literally the same bike. Just different plastic pieces.
Lmao...more comfortable.
I recommend the cbr500r as a first bike.
I started on a cbr125 and upgraded to the 500 a year later.
I've had the 500 for 4 years now and still love it. It has enough power to do whatever you want and is tame enough for new riders to learn on
I bought my 2020 R3 last month. I take my BRC next week. Wish me luck, squids.
“Just shove it up your nose and let it rip”-yammie noob 2020
I might be doing this backwards- My first street bike is a Gixxer 1000 (K5), now I'm looking for something a little more comfortable/ reliable. The Gixxer is awesome, on a smooth open road. It's no fun around town or in traffic, it's complicated, everything is expensive, the service intervals are every single time you look at it, and mine is like "afraid to scratch the tank" condition.
My second bike will be more of a beater, probably a SV650. Too bad $3500 Busas aren't really a thing anymore.
When will you finally reveal the new giveaway bikes? Waiting desperately here papa yam
June 17th 🔥
@@yammienoob do you ship to UK?
PAPA YAM! I just bought a R3 today! Thanks to your blessings of informations, tho may e I shoulda bought a busa 😂
Yes your videos are one of the reasons I bought a R3 for my wife
Been riding all My life
So far I love my little Baba devil
I see why you like the Duke 390 so much but its hard to seriously consider it when it has so many reliability problems and I'm strapped for cash as it is.
I’ve learned a lot from my R3 BUUT I cannot lie.. I did fiend for more power & the lovely sound of 3 or 4 cyl. Even though I did upgrade, good ol reliable is still in the lineup 👍🏽
How long did it take to want more ccs
@@walkerfharris sheesh, like after a month I was wanting more honestly but the r3 is doable. It’s fast enough for the hwy but you’ll be pushing it.
@@walkerfharris it’s all about your mindset. I moved on to a mt-09 and the extra CCs aren’t worth it unless you’re constantly getting into races on the freeway (stupid). Yeah it’s pretty fun screaming up to 100 in less than six seconds but honestly that’s all the extra CCs really let you do.
can yall pray for me, I just found a 2019 r3 for $1800
Let us pray to our lord's papa Yam and Rossi that the guy checking it out before me does not buy it.
Please I need all of the might of the squid army to help me
@Arthur Deranleau did you get the bike?
@@tylerjack6018 I did indeed
I owe alot of my mechanical intellect to my rebel 500, hands down the best starter bike
My first bike was a 92 Suzuki Katana 600 and I could really feel it go sluggish when I had a passenger on the back. I think it had 84 or 86 HP.
Yep exactly why I started watching you nearly 8 years ago
No I want a Turbo Bussssssa!
Cool video, I've always loved the R3.
Your vids legit cure depression
amazing video bro
I’ve had my r3 for about a year and a half now, and I can validate that i am not bored w the bike. If it goes 100+ how can it get boring? Imo unless you’re making money off racing or just a bigger guy there’s no need to guy a 600 or 1000. Learn the fundamentals and maintenance on a r3 and after you get comfortable riding upgrade if you feel the need to. 🤟🏾 all love to my yammie noobs
Hi papa yam yam. You have inspired me to buy a yamaha r3 with your videos thanks papa yam yam
_Just realised Suzuki don't have any 300cc street bike options._
_A GSX-S300 would be welcomed_ 😀
Vstrom 250 or burgman 400 😄
Fun fact : the 2019 R3 is the worst selling bike across the Asia market
Key word there is Asia
In asian market, they have r15...it is a 150cc bike with vva headblock....the seating position are more aggresive than the r3...super great for track day and the price is not bad at all....you should search it
Well now I feel old since when I started riding in mid 2000's the only option for smaller displacement was the Ninja 2-fiddy
The rear tire being 140 is a no-no for me
Next time you do a cruiser video, PLEASE make a video on Honda VTX models!
The Honda CBR250RR is so much better than the CBR300 when it comes to comparison with other beginer's bike!
Okay so been thinking about getting in to bow riding and after looking at the website for Yamaha I found the r3 then UA-cam sent me here long story short I’m sold it looks better IMO over the cbr 300 so here soon it’s r3 for me thanks man for the video
What do you think of the Honda CB300R for beginners?
R3 is a better buy.. go check out chase on 2 wheels small cc bike line up.
Cb or cbr? The CBR is a better choice for shorter riders (5'3 and under). R3 all around and Ninja 400 with slightly extra power but 100% still beginner friendly
What a coincidence. I was just thinking about getting an r3 sometime in the near future.
Me too, but I think I changed my mind to a Kawi 400. Love the looks of the R3 though!
I love mine. It's so much fun on backroads.
@@Philth_E what made you change. I'm barely gonna get my permit and still in the decision state
You need to look out more. We have R15 herr and also 125 in JPN. my country is where most of r3 was made along with the r25
The question is why isn't the Mt 03 the best beginner bike?
Why is it
The mt-07 exists
I bought an 2019 KTM Duke 390. Austrian? Maybe but built in India and the worst thing I’ve ran into is the bolts, screws, etc are garbage. Stripped threads on welded in nuts, and using red lock tight on screws/bolts that hold plastic covers on. Sad cause it’s a great bike.
Awesome Bike, Great Video
I got my A1 license(125cc) last week and i already crashed and broke my f*cking elbow yesterday. Rip my ktm duke ...
I just wanted to get this of my chest as i am currently in the hospital and have nothing else to do.
Play hearthstone on your phone
I Wish You a full recovery!, and with that the opportunity to restart your love for motorcycles, don't give up
I`m getting the 2020 R3 tomorrow as a first bike....................
I get mine tomorrow after finally waiting. Time to ride.
I really wish Yammie Noob can giveaway motorcycles internationally. Here in the Philippines sports bike are very expensive
CBR500R is a great beginner bike. I’ve owned one for going in 2 years. Also, you can get them off year new for around 5k, just a heads up.
Just bought my r3 yesterday so happy with my new past time lol
Just bought a r3 good to see I made a good choice I was worried that I should have bought a cbr
Yamaha makes the best motorcycles. Period.
2:45 smooth add transition handsdown 😶🤣
Started on R3. Had it for about 2 years but I just sold it and bought an fz8. The r3 was fun but was kinda getting bored of it. Love both bikes but fz8 is way faster and I like the adrenaline rush
It's been 4 years and 50,000 kilometers(india). Hehe. I have never had so much fun on a motorcycle. I do all kinds of fast stupid stuffs at 190kmph! But it makes me pay for my mistakes! Tons of fun, super reliable and amazing smooth tractable offset crank engine!
R3?
Could you do a review video of the 2020 Honda CB300R. Gold/Blue theme
Kinda bummed I settled on the 2018 r3 vs the 2020.
A minute of silence for the guy that stuffed up trying to wheelie a R3 he got for free
