Hey yams, how about a video on the kawi z1000 bikes over the years? I got a 2013 model this year and I feel they're pretty underrated and don't get much love.
been watching for years since i was like 17 not being able to ride legally. 22 now and im finally getting off the dirtbikes and getting an r7 in the spring. stunting it out full exhaust and tune. gonna be my first street legal bike of my own.
I started (and am still riding on) a 390 Duke, but had a chance to go with my buddy to a Yamaha test ride event nearby today. Test rode the R7, and I definitely want one. I test rode an MT-09 as well, as I’m still pretty partial to naked bikes, and while it was insanely quick, way more powerful than I would feel responsible on, the R7 really captivated me and help prove to me that a hunched over, locked in sport bike isn’t exactly out of the question for me
Finally a mention for the cbr650r, I would be talking the cbr over any of the 650 class, has the best of all. The only thing it lacks is fully adjustable suspension, however the suspension is tuned pretty nice and seems to do a good job all round.
I love the way the cbr looks. I really want one. I have to decide between that and the R7. I personally don’t care about the power difference. I’m leaning towards the R7 because of the way it sounds. I’m just in love with that mean sound.
@alexhejna7481 Personally I prefer the sound of an inline 4, especially on a sports bike. I feel a V twin sounds to much like a trail bike. The R7 would still be a nice bike as I think you have a bit more adjustment in the suspension than the CBR. What country do you live in as some have the power restricted?

I'm 6'3 and I fit good on the bike. I have a 23 I bought in April. I daily to work 4 days a week at 84 miles a day. Comfortable for me. I have 2,800 miles on it and no complaints. I agree about going and sitting on it to see how you feel. If you end up not liking it I recommend the ninja 400. My wife got her license and bought a 23 when I got mine and it's really Comfortable with a more upright position. Good luck and ride safe brother
@@Lodethebig Im 1m82cm so my reach is quite good. The position is way more aggressive than the ninja 650 or 400 or CBR, however it gives you a certain comfort and confidence. Personally I love it. I recommend going for a test ride and think long term what you like and enjoy most. I have only 300km on the dash with no complaints whatsoever.
I will say. The 23’ R7 was my first bike (dirt bike background) and a year later, it is still holding up for city and back country road riding. I am yet to take it to my local track but I am happy with my purchase still. I am looking to upgrade to a zx10r in 2025. If you aren’t looking to be the fastest, this is a great bike. Even then in my area you won’t see anyone going over 140mph anyways. If you get this bike, get rid of the horrific back fender, turn signals, and mirrors, and also upgrade that god awful stock exhaust, you’ll have a nice bike and more than likely will get compliments on it as I do!
A CP3-powered R9 would be A frikin blast IMHO. A friend of mine has a MT-09 SP and it is too good for a kind of cheap naked bike, I can't imagine that suspension and engine on a sportbike frame and ergonomics. Still, the R7 is awesome too, but quite different to MT-09 in sensations.
I highly recommend ktm 890 duke r or Yamaha mt09. I’ll never own a sportbike again after buying a 23 ktm 890 duke. Comfort makes all the difference in the world
If we are talking single bike stable, I 100% agree that a naked is a more versatile choice. They are more than fast enough, corner fine, and can be used for long trips just by adding bags. I would love a good 600ish sport bike, but I doubt it would see as much road time as my current naked. More for when I want to hit up some fun roads or gap those silly wannabe fast cars more than I already do.

Just saw a r7 next to me in the road, never seen one before, went to UA-cam to check em out , and I notice I’ve watched this video halfway through already 🤔
i own an r7, after owning a r125 a few years ago. I'm getting a turbo on it as I loved it so much the first year of riding it. it's confidence inspiring, it looks great and the riding position is amazing (finally a manufacturer that does a proper sportsbike riding position)
yes, i had it mounted on the bike, only we're having issues with it so I haven't seen the bike in over 6 months. if you like complications, do it, but it won't be a stock bike anymore
I bought my r7 for 10600$ out the door in wa. After not riding for 8 years I was going to go for the r6 or cbr 600 but couldn't find any and the r1 and cbr 1000 were to much money to justify to my wife. Long story short I love my r7. My only complaint is that I cant get more than 130 mph out of it but I hardly ever go that fast. Thanks yammie I saw your review for it when you were testing the 2022
Known way to many x-riders that aren’t around or don’t ride anymore because their first bike was a sport or super-sport bike as their first. As a veteran rider I would never recommend one to a new rider. There is a reason sport and super sports under a liter have been plummeting in popularity.
The R7 is a gorgeous bike, but that is all. It is uncomfortable and slow. If I am going to be uncomfortable, I at least want to be fast. Great bike for beginners though.
I'm going to upgrade from my Ninja 400 soon and the R6 has always been one of my dream bikes. I'm really considering the R7 instead because of the torque and more comfortable riding stance. I enjoy longer rides and the R6 probably isn't going to be very comfortable.
You'll be getting more bang for the buck. I have a T7 and I love the cp2 motor, it feels waay more torquey and bad ass than my old R6 did even though the torque numbers are comparable.
I am a beginner rider who choose a r7 as my first bike. I have a 2022 60th anniversary but unfortunately at the start of this month i crashed it I was using it to ride to work. in the rain on the way home I came off as I hit gravel that had been washed out from the side of the road which took the back end away from me normally I’d take my car when it rains but my car was away getting work done it’s a great bike but unfortunately I don’t think I’ll be riding mine for a good while partially due to needing to save money for new gear and new bike parts to replace my damaged ones. also damaged my collar bone and finger
I wish they brought back the YZF-600R thunder cat to replace the R6. Feel like that’s closer to an R6 while being less committed in the pocket. That being said, looking to snap up an R7 very soon.
Yammie, while it may be obvious to most that it is a joke to say that a 600 bike is a starter bike, it should not be said that something like the R7 or SV650 is a bike anyone should start on. Nothing that can propel you to 60mph in 4 seconds is anywhere close to a starter bike. I’d say even a 400 ninja or 500 hornet is too fast to start on. Learn on a 300 twin or a single cylinder bike. Learn how to control a 2 wheel machine first before going into the torquey bikes like 500’s and 650’s…. PLEASE
to expensive 😭 ill have to stick with my 1989 ninja ex500. 😊 it was 600$ and over a decade and 20000+ miles ive had not one problem. 😮 i do love her❤🏍️
I want to buy an R7 for my next bike, currently I have a Honda CBR300. I’m just not a fan of the r7 colors. Does anyone know if they will be coming out with different colors for next year? Thanks for the video, you have convinced me again that the R7 should be my next bike.
it is just MT07 with fairing Racing bike are suppose to be made from scratch and made with high quality that you can rev all day this is not that but this is like Ninja 650
It’s looks way too aggressive for the little performance it provides. If you want a torquey bike and don’t go about 100 why not just get the mt07 it’s cheaper and more comfortable
@christianhenry1096 even though kawasaki, honda, and suzuki still make a 600cc supersport? I mean a real supersport. Not a "two cylinder with fairings". A proper, legitimate supersport.
ON THE STREET I RIDE A HONDA CB600F NOTHING LIKE A INLINE 4.... AND I DO YAMAHA T700 FOR DIRT/STREET TO THE DIRT I PLAY IN I"M HAPPY WITH MINE I HOPE YOU FIND YOUR"S ,,,,
I was on the same idea until I test rode both (more the R7) and realized that the more aggressive position is compensated by 2 things: the seat is very comfortable and the tuck in position protects you from wind.
So question? I’ve had my first bike for a little while now and it’s a Honda CB 500 I want to get more in the sport bikes and I thought the R7 would be a good second bike but I hear a lot of people say that it’s a beginner + bike. Should I go with something bigger or is the r7 a good second. I’m a taller guy and the 500 already feels like riding a kids tricycle after a few months.
I have an R7 (my first bike) and rode a CB500 on the exam for the licence. The R7 is quite narrow, and although there's definitely more power than the CB, I don't know if the difference will keep you entertained for long, given how you say you out-grew the Honda in a few months only. I'm personnally super happy with my R7 for now, but for my second bike I think I'll get something bigger, around the 100hp mark probably.
I love the R7, its a great street bike, but a sports bike it is not. The engine is great for city riding, but its far from sporty. It may have similar ergos, but an R6,636,gsxr etc, this is not. I do however think it’s a great learner bike for someone to jump onto after a 125 before migrating to a proper sports bike, or a superbike (1000) . Also, if you’re track virgin an r7 is a great place to start learning the ropes.
Wow…you made that whole video and didn’t mention the ninja 650 till the end and then just crapped on it. The ninja did the low end torque sport bike 20 years before the r7. Outdated a bit yeah…but still a great bike.
GSXR 750 is a beautiful machine my mate has one and if you coming off a 300cc this thing will definitely impress you see I’m a psycho so I just went straight to GSXR 1000 as my first at least your smarter than me now that I learned a lot I would never recommend a beginner to go for a 1000cc

What do you recommend instead. Im looking at getting a new bike (supersport)
100 %. Slow and uncomfortable. If I am going to be uncomfortable, I at least want to be fast.
The engine is the biggest downside of the bike. It looks like it has great kit, but I want to see 130hp minimum for that price.
if is buy this as my first road bike would it be a bad descision? I have ridden dirt-bikes since i was 14.
2k km on my RS660 odometer, no quality issues except for noice from rear break on lower speed.
Just saw a r7 next to me in the road, never seen one before, went to UA-cam to check em out , and I notice I’ve watched this video halfway through already 🤔
R7 is now a starter bike lol
i own an r7, after owning a r125 a few years ago. I'm getting a turbo on it as I loved it so much the first year of riding it. it's confidence inspiring, it looks great and the riding position is amazing (finally a manufacturer that does a proper sportsbike riding position)
Are you looking at getting the extreme creations turbo kit for Australia? I've been tempted to turbo my r7 as well!
yes, i had it mounted on the bike, only we're having issues with it so I haven't seen the bike in over 6 months. if you like complications, do it, but it won't be a stock bike anymore
What about the ZX-4RR vs the R7? Disregarding the price, altho they are not that far apart.
I have a Tennere T7 and approve this engine.
Once a great person said, "It's not the size that matters, it's the how you use it."
don’t know why anyone would get the r7 when the cbr650r is available lol.
Thanks yammie I saw your review for it when you were testing the 2022
Can you share the dealership where you got it at that price? I live in wa and currently shopping around for my first bike
@@AG3nT_5W4GG3R I went to Tacoma power sports. Rainier power sports wanted like 11.400 with a massive unboxing and setup fee. So be careful with them
The zx6r is just priced so well between the r7 and 660.
Known way to many x-riders that aren’t around or don’t ride anymore because their first bike was a sport or super-sport bike as their first. As a veteran rider I would never recommend one to a new rider. There is a reason sport and super sports under a liter have been plummeting in popularity.
I was going to get an R7 but i really want that R9. Hopefully they make it
The R7 is a gorgeous bike, but that is all. It is uncomfortable and slow. If I am going to be uncomfortable, I at least want to be fast. Great bike for beginners though.
150 mph is slow?
One of the best looking out on the market ❤.
Even though i own the MT07 2022 ✌️
I'm going to upgrade from my Ninja 400 soon and the R6 has always been one of my dream bikes. I'm really considering the R7 instead because of the torque and more comfortable riding stance. I enjoy longer rides and the R6 probably isn't going to be very comfortable.
R7 will be more useable
It is going to suck dude. R6 is a race bike. You won't care about how much the bike looks when your back already hurts after 1 hour of riding.
You'll be getting more bang for the buck. I have a T7 and I love the cp2 motor, it feels waay more torquey and bad ass than my old R6 did even though the torque numbers are comparable.
Get a ktm 890 duke r and thank me later for the best decision you ever made in your life
R6 trust me. The R7 is a small jump from your 400.
"the R6 was the second best beginner bike right behind the turbo Hayabusa" 🤣
I am a beginner rider who choose a r7 as my first bike. I have a 2022 60th anniversary but unfortunately at the start of this month i crashed it I was using it to ride to work. in the rain on the way home I came off as I hit gravel that had been washed out from the side of the road which took the back end away from me normally I’d take my car when it rains but my car was away getting work done it’s a great bike but unfortunately I don’t think I’ll be riding mine for a good while partially due to needing to save money for new gear and new bike parts to replace my damaged ones. also damaged my collar bone and finger
Get one it's such a fun bike💙
I wish they brought back the YZF-600R thunder cat to replace the R6. Feel like that’s closer to an R6 while being less committed in the pocket. That being said, looking to snap up an R7 very soon.
Do u think the yamaha r7s good for a beginner rider?
As someone who wear a pair of sandals and shorts (optional) whenever they go outside I will surely buy the Yzf R1M 🗿
Saw the new white version at the dealer today. Had me foaming at the mouth. I do wish they had chosen to do electric blue highlights instead of orange
When is the new colors for the 2024 model coming? Thanks love the video.
Got new one tank doesn't hold much fuel suspension not great and changed the rear sprocket
The 2022 or the 2023
Yammie, while it may be obvious to most that it is a joke to say that a 600 bike is a starter bike, it should not be said that something like the R7 or SV650 is a bike anyone should start on.
😮 i do love her❤🏍️
An 09 ninja 500 Was my first bike I miss it to this day
I wish you would have mentioned the GSXR 750, since you brought up the CBR650R, which is also an inline 4.
I want to buy an R7 for my next bike, currently I have a Honda CBR300. I’m just not a fan of the r7 colors. Does anyone know if they will be coming out with different colors for next year?
Thanks for the video, you have convinced me again that the R7 should be my next bike.
Thanks Yamaha, I was waiting for this bike. Suzuki could have made a 650 sports bike with its V twin out ov the SV 650 ages ago.
it is just MT07 with fairing
Racing bike are suppose to be made from scratch and made with high quality that you can rev all day
this is not that but this is like Ninja 650
Actually, I want an R9...
Yamaha tripple made for corners in canyons? Yes please
I really miss those 95 r-7..too bad it was so expensive and rare
I bought one last month but i have to wait until december to legally drive it since i dont have my licence yet
It’s looks way too aggressive for the little performance it provides. If you want a torquey bike and don’t go about 100 why not just get the mt07 it’s cheaper and more comfortable
Definitely looking into one but my girl doesn’t want me to get one
Tell me about it💀still gonna get it tho😂
🐱 comes and goes, motorcycles are more sexy, and they attract more 🐱 , plus they’re more faithful. Ditch the chick, get the bike! 😤
@christianhenry1096 even though kawasaki, honda, and suzuki still make a 600cc supersport? I mean a real supersport. Not a "two cylinder with fairings". A proper, legitimate supersport.
Didn't Ducati start this niche with the Super Sport? It may have a bigger engine and price tag, but the concept is the same.
Ducati 747 was the first real middle weight (600cc class legal) super sport bike in 1994.
ON THE STREET I RIDE A HONDA CB600F NOTHING LIKE A INLINE 4.... AND I DO YAMAHA T700 FOR DIRT/STREET TO THE DIRT I PLAY IN I"M HAPPY WITH MINE I HOPE YOU FIND YOUR"S ,,,,
I started with a 00' R6 and still rockin it, but the R7 looks so fuckin hot you think its such a big downgrade?
I know it's a preference. But the ergonomics on the ninja 650 is more desirable to me
Yeah I wanted a bike that looked good, and also felt good after 20 minutes in the saddle.
I was on the same idea until I test rode both (more the R7) and realized that the more aggressive position is compensated by 2 things: the seat is very comfortable and the tuck in position protects you from wind.
Just wish Kawasaki would do something with their snoozer 650 engine that's been around since 2006.
The 2024 ninja 650 actually went up in price. It’s not $7,999 anymore.
Not to be confused with the YZF R7 that Haga used to race.
@@noblaw7595 thanks that’s all I needed to know. I’ll be getting something bigger then.
I’m looking to get R7 but is is good for 1 hour highway dievong
No mention of the XSRs 😢
An R9 would be very tempting.
That is my next motorcycle I want real bad..
What about R9?
j'aime beaucoup la musique classique en arriere plan !
Wow…you made that whole video and didn’t mention the ninja 650 till the end and then just crapped on it. The ninja did the low end torque sport bike 20 years before the r7. Outdated a bit yeah…but still a great bike.
Maybe I’m a one off, but my Tuono V4 is perfect and doesn’t have any issues with oil. I love everything about it!
Well i still think i made the best choise buying an RS660… i would like to try the R7 and the CBR tho (not the Ninja, thanks)
I'll pass, I bought the new Ninja ZX6R and I'll run circles around an R7.
Aren't you forgetting the XSR700?
Im a beginner on a ninja 300 looking to upgrade eventually in the near future .... Is a gsxr 750 in this category?
Gixxer 750 is in its own class imo. There were almost no bike with 750cc and 4 cylinders.
Tell me how young you are without telling me how young you are. There were a WHOLE LOT of them.
Thank God I will buy one for myself
looks amazing. $10,000 for a 74hp bike tho is a hard pass. the Z900 is the same price and has 125hp
