I took a look at the new set in our local GW store, and I'm thinking it might be a fun purchase (assuming wife allows). These elves can assist my stormcast vs the chaos onslaught of my teenage daughters chaos army.. Damn the dual khorgoraths and chaos lords healing capability.
Elgi, never trust them. Their dabbling in magic will end in tears. I wonder what happened to the Phoenix crown that was kept in Karaz a Karak after the end times?🤔
Given a choice I always side with the Dwarfs in these kinds of arguments. But in this case, I'm not seeing any long- ears wearing it, so we'll just have the dwarfs repurpose this guy!
How much did that miniature set you back? $40-50? I like how intricate GW makes their miniatures now and they paint beautifully, but they're right up there with Corvus Belli miniatures in terms of temperamental spindly pieces that may bend or break if you're impatient.
Their engineering really is on point, but their models the last couple of years seem to be incredibly ornate and proportionately spindly and fragile. They look fantastic, but I wouldn't want to lug them to a convention risking breaking everything.
I think you'd have to go with all magnetized bases for an event like that. I agree, there's no real way to transport these things any more. They've really moved from gaming pieces into the realm of display pieces. This guy doesn't feel as delicate as Lady Olynder at least. That was a model I was afraid to even pick up and paint!
In my opinion troops are ok but characters and monsters are some of the most static, nonsensical, borderline ridiculous sculpts released by GW in recent years. Eltharion looks like a dismissed mannequin at Harrold's, not to talk about Telclis, floating paralytic on the side of a... what is it, a sphinx? And the guy sitting on a rocky dildo? I mean, who came up with that? Did the sculptor even know what Warhammer is and what high elves are? And when it comes to Eltharion, where is Stormwing? Why the fishlike helmet when Eltharion spent his whole life on a gryphon?
The new Teclis didn't do much for me either to be honest- there's more focus on the big monster behind him instead of on the man himself. I've never been a big fan of elves anyways, so it's not a big loss for me. I'd argue that Eltharion here is pretty far from static- looking at it in person almost plays tricks with your eyes, filling in the empty space where the body should be as it swings the swords through their motions. Plus I'd say the front of his helmet is very much like a pair of griffon wings!
waw what a sublime miniature. spectacular. thanks for showing us.

@@ObscuritiesinMiniature I'm not going to deny the models coolness it is a neat model!
Looks really neat but fragile. Too bad there is not a way to fiber optic light it.
Nifty, but I dont need another fragile model.

I managed to snag it early on for 32, but I had a bunch of eBay bucks I cashed in as well so it was just a few bucks actually out of my pocket.
