My 600-lb Life is an American reality television series that has aired on the TLC television network since 2012. Each episode follows a year in the life of morbidly obese individuals, who usually begin the episode weighing at least 600 pounds (270 kg), and documents their attempts to reduce their weight to a healthy level. Update episodes, called "Where Are They Now?", feature one or more previous patients, picking up a year or more after their original episodes aired.
Patients are placed under the care of Iranian-American Houston surgeon Younan Nowzaradan (often referred to as simply "Dr. Now"), who first has them attempt losing weight on their own by following a strict diet, and then depending on the patient's progress may offer gastric bypass surgery or sleeve gastrectomy to further assist in weight loss.
rest in peace Robert! Thats crazy how he knew or felt like he wasnt going to make it thru the night! The mind knows so much more than we realize how sad... atleast he said his goodbyes to his wife.;(

Can we just talk about how insane it is to use a lymphoma as a table?
This comment tho 😂😂
Lymphadema*
Yes, we can. Mind-boggling.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I just kept staring at it
I find it so funny when the family react to the weight yet they're all morbidly obese to.
And it comes back?
Seriously! And the “I dont know how that happened”.
Yeah I noticed that too 😂
My exact words! How can people expect to help the people asking for help lose the weight when the enablers are almost as big as the person asking for help I just don't understand
Yeah, 90% of the time the family member are like 350 plus. It sets a bad example when they complain.
Justin went on to be an incredible success story - he reached his goal weight & went on to learning to fly an aeroplane (his dream). ❤❤
I was 150 lbs for my 20s, then i started having health problems, got put on prednisone A LOT , couldn't breathe, was stuck on my couch , and gained crazy weight. Right now, im 250 lbs. It'sl so uncomfortable i can't even imagine how horrible it feels to be as big as these people have gotten.
I know quite a few people who got put on antidepressants, lost all their personality but gained huge amounts of weight while eating the same if not less.
YO PLOT TWIST, It's much easier for a grossly overweight person to lose 80 pounds than it is for a person only trying to lose 10 pounds. THERE IS SO MUCH MORE TO LOSE if you're bigger.
Yeah, they don't even need to exercise. Just drop calories to 1200-1600 a day and they'll drop weight like crazy. It takes an insane amount of calories just to maintain that size.
@@billbombshiggy9254You could eat 4,000 calories and maintain weight at that size, but it’s easy to eat, it’s roughly 3 meals at macas
They have that much in water weight.
@@transittimes2008 Maintain weight at theresize? I'm an athlete and eat more than 4000 calories and am 215. I lift very heavy weights, run, and am very active. People in the 700 pound range eat close between 10 and 15 thousand calories a day in most cases. 4000 is nothing for a strong athletic person who's a big guy and active. I wasn't sure what you were saying. I would bet that the average person who's 350 and sits around eats between 5000-7000 calories a day. It all depends on the person. I know every one of these people eats at least double 4000 calories a day, that's at the very minimum.
Justin is one of the most successful consultants on 600lb life
That dude pushing Mercedes wheelchair was sure struggling. Poor guy.
He's gonna need back surgery and knee replacements
The man is her cousin and has a heart of gold.
I appreciate that he is helping her. Nice guy. But it was pretty funny
@@deborahsojourner6755dam
I read that before i saw it, i thought it was the wheelchair brand 😅
Afraid he be mad at you? Is he going to chase you? Leave? If he does not eat what is before him, he doesn’t have to eat. That explains how many of these people still live with parents, the behavior has been reinforced by them. Dad has the power to control what he eats.
i get what you’re saying but i’m pretty sure it’s because he loves him and doesn’t want his own child to not like him
I can’t stand when people that size say I need to eat, I’m starving. They have never been starving their whole lives.
I'm the same. There are genuinely so many people in the world that are starving. These people are just hungry. It drives me insane. 🙄😤
Dude it's addiction. It's no different than being addicted to drugs, or porn
@@nomaderic Some people will never understand. Same pleasure Center in the brain as drugs etc.
This is LACK OF LOVE they are trying to get by getting physically full. 💔
Why does it bother you? Worry about you boo boo
Lost 115 lbs in under a year. Tracked my calories and did 6-12k steps a day and weight trained. It’s only hard for those who aren’t ready to accept reality.
I listen to audio book on blue tooth headphones not ear buds at the gym and it's nice talking with someone else too
Same for any addiction ❤
For some it's hard if trauma is connected to the overeating😢. Congratulations to you🎉
Come back in a year and tell us how you’re doing
It’s sad that once Robert was blacklisted from being able to get painkillers he literally just gave up and died. Addiction is wild.
Who is Robert?
@celestinepinkney-lloy d2608 at the 18 minute mark.
Uncontrolled pain is also horrible.
Agree. Fighting ONE addiction is hard enough, but two at tje same time?
Tiffany "we're on a limited income" yeah..so eating less food should be beneficial
@@Knuckles694 same. I'm 123lbs and can barely afford enough food to feed me and my husband and maintain my weight. I really don't see how they afford it.
Disability and food stamps and mooching off family members
I just don't understand when someone says eating healthy is expensive and then gets take out
yes junk food is more expensive than healthy home prepared food

You will...The " right" one will eventually come along...
Love will happen when you're not looking. Anyway, you don't want a partner who has nothing going on except taking care of a 600 pound overeater, do you?
My highest weight was 232 at 5’6” and when I slept my arms, hands, legs, feet would all tingle and go to sleep. It was so hard getting in and out of the bath tub. I can’t imagine being any bigger. Tg I found the carnivore way of eating. I’m down 42# and I’m never hungry. No more pre diabetes. No skin tags, no more bp meds. Way more energy and better sleep.
Good For you!...Keep going. That's great.
YES 🍗🥩🥓
The hard work will be worth it keep it up 👊
@Sabbathissaturday Hey, that's really interesting as I'm going through the exact same thing and trying the carnivore diet also.. I would like to ask you a few questions, if you don't mind?
What is a carnivore diet?
Every time I'm sad about my 40 pounds too much on my scale, I watch vids like this, and I'm happy with myself...
Good for you. Sad that it makes you feel better about yourself by looking down on people. You're awesome !!
@@Duck-d7p Yeah, it makes me feel better, when I watch vids like this. Shame on me... 🤣🤣🤣
@@marcom2248 I feel the same. My life could be a lot worse, if I let it.
Justin i am so proud of you for turning your life around. I hope to this day that you have maintained your weight loss as you are a nice looking man
I have no idea why I keep watching these.
I was just thinking the same thing.
Soon to be fiancee and mother in law need to go on a diet also
Weight loss surgery for the second time?? That’s insane
it's because they are used to their old portion sizes. some drug addicts are used to their old doses when they relapse and end up overdosing. you're supposed to eat until you're not hungry. not until you're full. most, including underweight, people struggle with the same thing.
@squeezeecheese8829 I know. But i'm going to reiterate the fact that this is addictive behavior. We are all addicted to something even if it's something that's harmless.
I watch these every time I feel like eating too much icecream/candy/whatever.
Works like a charm at helping me to stay at the current 114 pounds 😂
YES. plus taking a quick look at my naked self in the mirror lol
@triciahouser4071 omfg if i ever do it's by accident lol 😂 you're nuts
I’m usually 125 but I’m now 145 and trying my hardest to lose the weight and fight the cravings these videos work very well 😂
Amazing!
Treat yourself to some ice cream and brush those cravings off bestie you deserve it 🫶🏻
"I need to eat something to calm my nerves"
Bruh.
Right, like just pick up a cigarette or something lol
It is the same like cigarets, alcohol or dr..s.
I’m always surprised at how family members (who are almost always obese themselves) don’t go on the sane diet. Being on the same diet would support the patient, make it easier to prepare meals for everyone and the whole family would improve their health. Why don’t more of them get gastric bypass along with the main patient?
The thing is, you CANNOT get this heavy without an enabler. it just doesn't happen. The amount of food these people eat it astounds me how they can even afford it at all
I can't afford enough food. I don't understand where they get the money.
@AnastasiaFafo they usually get disability cus they are so fat (I think you shouldn't legally be able to collect disability if you are obese) as well as food stamps
@@AnastasiaFafoMoney combined from the people giving the food
All of them have family cooking giant meals and buying all their favorite junk food. That's not love......
They all live with other people who probably pay the bills and that would leave disability and food stamps for their food, plus all these families cook giant meals ...
What's wild to me is that their arms and legs cannot hang in their normal alignment. Their arms can't hang by their sides properly! And so many of them are almost in the split position in bed. Their hips and shoulders must be screaming.
The legs always trips me out too
If you’re using your leg as a table you should know things NEED to change
These patients should start therapy before starting the program.
the weight loss program includes psychiatric evaluation
It needs to be includet. Most of them are running out of time and every month they stay on their high weight, takes a huge toll from the body.
Therapy can’t help if people are in denial and reluctant to make a change. It’s like the surgery, if people are determined to eat they will find a way
Every single person that has brought these people to the doctor need to listen to the doctors advice as well. They are all overweight by a CONSIDERABLE amount.
Everyone has to take complete responsibility for their own lives; there can be no blaming enablers.
That's a shame to drag that old man out to help you! He is in a wheelchair I just pray you don't fall on him! I'm in the middle of a shut in all night praying for that poor man pushing Mercedez's wheelchair. The fact that Holley is always hungry eats her mother up. Mom you need to be worried more about Holley eating you up!
I love how everybody thinks they are just going to sleep and not waking up.....news flash ..there might be more pain than you ever thought possible, gasping for air as you have never gasped before.
A couple things I have noticed is that men who are above seven hundred pounds often are able to walk. Where women up in the six fifty or plus range are usually not ambulatory. Also, these people eat as much as twelve thousand calories a day, ten times the amount the Doctor recommends. But, if they ate three one thousand calorie meals a day, even fast food, there woud be a significant weight loss.
I do empathize that many of these people suffered traumatic circumstances. And I would never want to trivialize abuse. However, many people have suffered the same things. They are not unique. Some people cannot get help and yet manage to overcome their addictions or destructive behaviours to become healthy on their own. I wish everyone could have a Dr. Now type person to help them too.
Edit - I wonder if any of the other family members who are obese use the information from the Doctor to improve themselves?
They probably don't think they have a problem too. They think the other person has the problem. I bet that sometimes the other family members try to lose too.
There is this woman 6,2 feet 1000 pound could walk Yeah it comes to height and Different bone density thats why more men could walk then women
Some probably do simply by making the same thing for themselves as they do for the patient.
Agree with @playbox4366 on this one. 600 lbs at 5'1 and 6'2 "is distributed much differently. When you're as wide as you are tall (or wider), I imagine movement is pretty rough.
❤
"I need a large number 6 double!" No "please". It's horrific.
Some of these people impress me with the fact they're still walking around.
Yep. When i gi to the petstoreto get kirty litter,it comes in huge 25lbs bags. I can easily carry two of them to the storage room, but just thinking, i would carry those the whole day? Makes me unvomfortable. And some of those people carry the weight of not just 2, but 10 to 20. That is an insane ammount of weight!
If you are on a road trip, you can have the person driving go into a 7-11, circle k, AMPM, or any other convenient store, and get you a slim fast.
They just want to continue to eat fast food and junk, and will find any excuse to continue to eat it.
Or a grocery store with pre-made salads
Or bring your own food. I'm on my weight loss journey right now and when we needed to travel, I consulted my dietician. And I brought my own food, yogurt, tuna, protein drinks etc
Heck even McDonald's has salads!
Slim fast is terrible for you.
I bring food. I used to be obese and I never want to be obese again.
It is surreal to see adults behave like injudicious toddlers on a bed and no parent just walks in and simply takes the Candy bar out of their hands that is so harmful to their health.
They want to be helpless babies who need feeding and diapering. Pitiful.
Such a gentleman opening door for his mum. Good work Justin!
Mooooom 🐄 lmao
When he was little I taught my son to open doors for people whether they are women or men. Also, to not charge into an elevator while people are trying to exit it. In addition to these basic good manners, to not start eating until everyone at the table has been served.
The children--both girls and boys--at the church I go to have good manners and hold open the doors for other people entering the church.
I hold doors open for people, too. Some of the rudest people are women who let the door smack me in my face.
What bothers me in these episodes are the atrocious table manners some of the people have. So many people don't even know how to use forks and spoons properly. It's stomach churning at times.
Good manners start at home!
The first guy did an amazing job losing weighht
Fast food has become America's downfall.😖😖
I'm an "Aussie"..we are starting to have a problem...too much "junk food." But we do not have people this obese..Well I haven't seen anyone this big...

Laziness, high fructose syrup, and fast food of all kinds - including grocery store stuff!
The healthy option, when traveling, is a grocery store where fruits and vegetables are. Where salads are.
U could eat lean meat and vegatables and drop a ton
I don't know what kind of grocery stores they have where you live but that is not something you can eat while driving. Nor is it practical to grocery shop when you're trying to get somewhere in a limited amount of time. I bet you've never done this yourself. It's completely impractical.
@@oslowilde6961while driving? 🙄
@@cyrene7784 takes a few minutes to eat... as long as you aren't eating enough for 20 people.
Exactly and in all honesty you can get a salad, lean wraps, fresh fruit at a lot of gas stations. And literally NO ONE has ever died because they waited an hour to eat when healthier options became available when traveling. We humans are masters of self deception 😬
This type of surgery must cost in the tens of thousands. Who pays for it? I'm intrigued
Show pays
I love when Dr. Now tells them off when they don't lose enough weight. LOL
I was 5'8" and 205 pounds. Within 3 months I dropped to 155. These people aren't even trying. They should be able to drop 150 pounds easily.
Whoa, impressive, but dropping that much that quickly is not safe at your size. I agree that these huge people could probably lose that quickly as they are 600+, but at 205, you should probably aim for no more than 1-2 pounds per week to stay in the safe range. If your numbers are correct, you lost more than 4 pounds per week which puts the body under a lot of stress and at risk for a whole host of risk factors.
The problem with these people in the video is that they are all completely addicted to food. It's like a drug for them. I get annoyed too by watching them not even try to follow the diet, but I try to remember that they have a lot of mental problems that are the cause of their size to begin with.
I'm 5'8" and dropped 147 to 140 skipping a meal and eating light one day. Day 2. Literally 7lbs gone. Granted it may not have been straight weight, but give me 3 months and I could lose that same 50lbs @@Antares2
Its distressing how many of these people are abusive to their carers.
How do they afford it 🤔 I'm hungry cause I can't buy food I'm complaining about being 140😮😢
That's what I want to know.
I have a family of 5 and can barely afford what we need each week.
I really feel bad for family now the price of food we raised four kids in the 80s and 90 and now empty nesters can even imagine how you do 😢
@bunssercute123 I'm not even 120 amd last year I was under 100.
I struggled to maintain weight after my husband died. I just quit eating. Better now because I eat twice and day
All their families cook huge amounts of food and enable them. Most became obese very young because family gave them way too much food
Food banks and churches for food
Have one piece of pizza not the whole thing just ONE
I still think one of the more upsetting episodes of this show was the episode with Robert Buchel. He died during the weight loss diet and wasn't able to lose enough weight before it caught up with his body.
BIG lesson there
Just the amounts of food needed to maintain that weight is staggering! Not to mention to constantly gain weight!!! They have to be eating 15,000-20,000 calories a day!!! That's eating from the moment you wake up until you go to sleep!!! What an addiction to have
I’ve seen all of these episodes but your commentary keeps me coming back lol!!!!
Subway is not great, but a salad is better than the junk they are eating.
Bro Subway wraps are goated especially after a workout, very high protein.
Subway would be okay if it was one sandwich for a meal, but you know that's just enough for a snack.
It’s so hard to imagine being so heavy
"I can't eat healthy on limited income." Eating healthy 1200 Cals costs a fraction of eating takeout food for 5+ people.
The last one you can see the dynamic there. .Skinny boyfriend (Feeder). When it comes to the family members you can see the enablers in those cases. Often sitting around like seagulls eating the scraps dropped for them.
I worked with a guy like this, but he would just date them. He was married to a normal sized woman.
What vivid imagery re: the seagulls. You should try your hand at writing more than just comments.

She was pregnant.

I've noticed the stink face, too. This should be pointed out to her so she treats the patients in a kinder way. I'm sure being embarrassed by her doesn't help these people want to come back regularly for their appointments.

I have to say... most of these videos seem to have the "enablers" appear to be on their way to being just as overweight as the people they are enabling, which is really sad to think about. And I've also noticed in the comments that this is not just me that has noticed this. Really sad. Obesity begets obesity 😕And it also seems that the enablers who are not obese just seem to have a very low self-esteem problem. So, so, sad ☹
I really Like Justins voice, He should read books professionally
Laying down while eating pizza is wild aha. Justin done well though. Fair play to him
I've noticed that many (dramatically) obese people enjoy eating while on their stomach - which seems a bit awkward - I guess all the fat accumulated on the chest and stomach makes a nice cushion for them to eat comfortably.
Tiffany is flying on a plane ? She's going to bring that plane down. And they keep pigging out, did I just hear that plane crash ??😖 I've seen Rhonda's that weigh less. They need to make funeral arrangements quick.😖😖😖😖
I've seen what suspension systems look like in mid size SUVs after they've been traded by these people. All vehicles have maximum pay loads. They all have enablers who do the grocery shopping.
Why do these people use eating take out as an excuse? You can get a salad from a gas station! I travel and I eat out…. And Salad and a bottle of water is always cheaper than a mega bacon burger meal and fries plus pop. Get a cheese stick and an apple from the gas station! Lord! It’s not this hard!

“I eat because I’m unhappy, I’m unhappy because I eat”
Why on earth are they so surprised when they don't meet the weight loss goal, and even gain weight, when they just go home and refuse to follow the diet, like they are expecting some kind of magic to happen
They say they need Dr Now to help them lose weight, but he can't do anything about their eating habits.

13:53 I've never seen someone stick their tongue out to eat a burger.
Mexican restaurants serve a dish called Carnitas which is pork meat only. A double order would satisfy that big boy. Nevertheless, I should share that the carnivore diet works. It is the old Atkins diet repackaged. All it means is not eating bread, pasta, rice, or potatoes. I found it easy to not eat that junk. I've lost 23 pounds so far. I started at 235. I'm down to 210 and it works.
Raw carrot, celery, cauliflower, sweet peppers, whole fruit, beef jerky, cheese, whole grain crackers. That’s what we pack for road trips. It’s easy and doesn’t contain 10k+ calories.
I'm always amazed when people say food is taking everything away from me when reality is, your hand and mouth is what is taking everything away from you. Food isn't the problem.
The mind controls the hands and mouth. Their mental issues is what’s taking everything away.
I'm always amazed by people who don't realize that this is just like any other addiction. Drugs and alcohol take everything away from those who abuse them, but you always hear addicts say that the substances ruin their lives. But you're correct. It's not the substances; but you don't say that to them. Only the obese are to blame for their addiction. Everyone else gets nothing but sympathy.
I'm not certain if the so called experts have figured out yet whether a food addiction is a mental problem whereas alcoholism is deemed a disease. If you know a psychiatrist you might want to ask their opinion on this subject. Maybe they can answer your topic which definitely needs an answer. I don't know anyone that might be able to answer this but I would be interested to find out what they would think. Maybe the answer isn't set in stone as doctors and mental health people have differing opinions. I like your thinking and this is something that needs an answer.@@michelleprieur1
Agreed food isn't the problem. It's their addiction to food that's the problem
How do they afford all this fast food ?
Please help me understand.
Why are so many of them addicted to painkillers
Obesity puts pressure on the joints eg knees..They have back pain knee pain leg pain..Then they need " painkillers".. all because of too much bloody bad food and obesity
Imagine carrying 400 lbs all the time.
It's America
