    I can't thank you enough for this video. I'm not mechanically inclined, so I'm intimidated at the prospect of replacing a part like this which requires removing other parts to reach it. The video de-mystified it to the point where I decided I could really give it a shot. I even ordered the part using your Amazon link (I hope you get Associates commission on that). Total cost was $50-$60, including the part, coolant, and a new hose to the overflow tank (I busted the old one while removing it.) I had all the tools I needed (which wasn't many). What's funny is my car's symptoms were Identical to yours, and my component was broken in exactly the same way as yours. This would've been many hundreds of dollars had I taken it to my mechanic, including what he would've marked up the part for. Best of all: I actually enjoyed the job and felt like I knew what I was doing, and got a huge sense of accomplishment when I finished and took the car on the road for a test drive. THANKS AGAIN!

Changed the expansion tank filler cap, checked underneath the tank and it's dry so will investigate this plastic part and see if it's leaking there. Heater matrix connections are ok as well. My daughter's car had gotten hot enough that she had a warning on her dash. I assumed she was just low on coolant, as I was filling it up she pointed and said is it supposed to be doing that? I looked and it was just pouring out of that plastic piece but it was flowing up in to that circular opening and I couldn't tell exactly what was going on. Long story short, I had it towed home and the found this part to be broken, and apparently it's pretty common. Good luck to you on the repair.

    • @DCAutoEnhancement
      @DCAutoEnhancement  3 місяці тому

      That's where I thought this one was leaking. What is happening is the water is shooting into that hole at the bottom and when it comes back, it looks like it's coming from that hole. That hole is actually blocked off and there is no way for the coolant to come from that hole. You have the same problem that I had with this car. I wish I could have recorded what I saw initially.
