  • On September 29th, a special rules fight will happen between ONE Women’s MMA Strawweight World Champion, Xiong Jing Nan and Muay Thai standout Nat “Wondergirl” Jaroonsak.
    What makes this match so unique? It’s punches only, with small gloves - but not just boxing rules. In fact, spin and jump attacks are perfectly legal, as is dirty boxing.
    And so today we will explore various strategies that we can expect to see and implement into your game!

    I love specific formats to train specific skills.
    I would love one with punches,elbows and standing submission only.
    No kicking and no takedown.
    Could be the chance to see more shoulder strikes.

    Do you guys remember those south east asian "empty hand styles" that were pretty popular in the MA community at one point? (Panantukan/Kali, Silat, Muay Boran, dirty boxing, etc)
    I think this special ruleset would be a pretty appropriate way to develop the those techniques in a "realistic" setting

    I have a request: a video about stances and footwork ideas for people with scoliosis, since it messes up our balance. Or, if there isn't any ajustment to be done, a video telling why...but I "feel" that conventional stances make me off balance a little bit.

    I’m mostly just extremely focused on letting Muay Thai fighters fight in an actual ring
    I can’t count how many times these promotions use a cage instead, handicapping their weapons/movement and (in my eyes) jeopardizing the entire outcome in the process; people gotta do a better job of controlling for variables

    • @thejoojoo9999
      @thejoojoo9999 8 місяців тому +1

      How does a cage handicap any of the muay thai weapons or movement ? The only major change from a cage that you can't corner the opponent.
      I believe you put give way too much importance to a small detail if you believe the cage jeopardizes the fight.
      Other changes from ONE FC such as small gloves, restricted clinching or scoring system are waaaay more influential than that.

    • @corpsefoot758
      @corpsefoot758 8 місяців тому

      @@thejoojoo9999
      Man, your one question proves how little Muay Thai you actually watch lol
      It’s not just the lack of cornering (a HUGE change you’re downplaying for some weird reason), it’s also using the top ropes for massive evasion & even leverage for head-kicks
      Not to mention clinched up against a chain-link fence being a completely different animal, changes the whole way they can bounce against the flexible ropes to swing their torso around and potentially escape fast
      Thai fighters often revive “Boran” so smaller gloves aren’t as unusual as you think. And I didn’t read up on clinch rules, I wasn’t going to watch after I saw an octagon to begin with. It’s lazy
      Long story short, I just want them controlling for as many variables as possible. No need to get this critical

      @corpsefoot758 if a martial art only works well in a square shaped area, it's a bad martial art. Like, bullshido gun defense level trash.
      Luckily, the idea of not being able to fight because the ring is a different shape is pure fiction, so Muay Thai is all good still XD
