Smilla has kept her super-aggressive style, but has become a lot more varied, accurate and deadly with her strikes. One of the best fighters I've ever seen. It's no wonder she has a hard time finding opponents.

Yes, first things first, Allysia Rodrigues is very good. She's strong, hits hard, has good control in the clinch, and has good resilience. Smilla Sundell, on the other hand, is, quite frankly, a beast. She has a tremendous gas tank, excellent balance, hits hard, has a ton of resilience, and is good in the clinch...but for me, what separates Smilla from everyone else I've seen her fight, is that, she's very good working from the outside, bunches of punches and kicks, knees and elbows from distance, but when she gets you inside the phone booth, she's still hitting hard from every direction possible, yet still with the power of the outside shots. Great fight!

What confused me was the seeming lack of defense to simple punch combinations - She didn't shell up once, kept her guard wide, barely moved her head. What is up with that? I can't imagine that being a skill issue, she seems like such a technically excellent fighter in all other areas.

Kept her guard wide, not much head movement, no slipping at all. What the hell was up with that? I really think she might have stood a good chance if she wasn't so careless(?) in taking hits in the beginning. Anyway, amazing performance from both fighters!
It looks like Rodrigues was told what she needed to do, but she wasn't ready. If you are a much shorter opponent, you should automatically assume that you need to fight inside. However, to fight inside your cardio needs to be in tiptop shape, you need to be very persistent and your defensive skills inside need to be learned as well as the offense. If you let your much taller opponent achieve complete extension, then expect to be hit with bombs.
Huge advantage in reach which Rodrigues first overcame doing some damage to the beanstalk's face but she either tired too quick or was hurt bodily as she was not throwing punches or elbows, just hanging onto Sundell's neck trying to last out.I don't see as others say Rodrigues really fighting back, just holding on. Doing it well but not causing any problem for the punching machine.
Pocket fighters are the best. Nowadays, in boxing especially, unlike the Golden Era, every 10 seconds be hugging. This is a damn good competition and genuine fighters.

When the commentary doesnt understand the rules of the clinch "idky he broke them up, she was landing effective elbows".... Rodrigues' arm was past the elbow and wrapped around Sundell's head.
Its obvious to see the height and length difference, combined with Smilla's technique is really giving Allycia a hard time at this point in the 3rd round. Pure domination.
