Photographing KINGFISHERS and DIPPERS on the RIVER OTTER - BEGINNER WILDLIFE PHOTOGRAPHY TIPS

- In this video I head off to my local river here in Devon, the River Otter, to look for kingfishers and I get a couple of bonus encounters! Dippers, beavers, otters, kingfishers, buzzards are just a few of the subjects I photograph along the River Otter and it was nice to be out exploring new locations.
I talk a little bit more than normal, about my top 5 tips for anyone starting out in wildlife photography and these are all tips I have learned along the way!

Another great relaxing vlog. Always happens when your doing another thing the subject arrives ha ha. It's usually when Im pouring a coffee or have a sandwich and drink in each hand ha. Great shout on making mistakes and enjoying just seeing rather than chasing the image. Keep it up mate 🔥

Love your videos - For me, being out in nature is equally as important as coming home with a killer shot or two. Never forget you miss every image you don't even try for. @@mywildlifeimages fantastic. It’s a genuine offer. We live in Palm Bay, near the coast, due east of Orlando. I’d love to show you around. Summer is so hot that wildlife tends to hunker down or go elsewhere, but from November through to May Florida is often like a zoo with no cages.

Another super watch Rich, with some great footage & stills of the dippers, buzzard & kingfisher. Nicely done bud! The tips are fantastic for newcomers too, & I for one can re-iteate the one about not being successful at getting images &/or video footage of your chosen subject(s). The success rate is probably less than 50% realistically, but it's all a part of the process & you need to accept it's 'wildlife' & there are no guarantees. You may have done your field craft, put the hours in, got up early & out the door for golden hour - none of this means the subject(s) will turn up. If you can accept this & just make the most of just being there, you will learn quicker & the red letter days when they come (& they will) will be all the more rewarding.

Spot on with the reality when it comes to perceived failures. I spent almost a year trying to make a video I deemed "worthy of UA-cam" also nice to hear tips that were less about "buy this camera" . Tips were all genuine and within reach of everyone.

hahah your not going to believe this, but I have just been out today to create a new video, and what did I get to see and photograph, Dippers and Kingfishers, lol they must be friends the dippers and Kingfishers, although I was up north on Dean Beck doing more of a resonance trip which turned out a lot better than I hoped for. Love your video, by the way, great shot there mate. it almost looks like summer down there compared to the mud I had to go through today.
Ahh no way! You cannot beat a day out with dippers and kingfishers! Also really appreciate you watching the video. It was ok that particular day but very, very wet and muddy now 😂
