  • How to Repair Toilet Flapper and Flush Valve by Korky | Part number: 2003MP | www.korky.com/...
    Hello, and welcome to Korky toilet repair. Today we are going to install your Korky Universal Flush Valve Repair Kit. The first step is to shut off the water supply to the toilet. Next, flush your toilet. Mark the water level in your tank and drain the excess water. Remove the old flapper. Clean the drain seat with steel wool, sandpaper, or an abrasive pad. Wipe all debris and moisture from the surface of the drain seat. Set the new seat upside down on a safe flat surface. Squeeze the silicone sealant evenly around the bottom of the seat. Use about ¾ of the tube. Center the new seat over the old drain seat and press firmly into place. Make sure to avoid getting and sealant on top of the new drain seat. Wait 15 minutes for the sealant to set completely. Install the Korky ultra saver flapper. Attach the flapper ears to the tabs on the flush valve. Attach the flapper chain to the flush lever with minimal slack. Turn the water supply on and wait for the tank to fill completely. Turn off the water supply and flush. If the water line drops within a half inch of the pencil mark, your installation is finished. If not rotate to the open position and reinstall the flapper. Turn the water supply on and let the tank fill completely. Turn off the water supply and flush. If your water line is still not within a half inch of the pencil mark, adjust the dial so the next lowest number aligns with the arrow. Then reinstall your flapper. Turn the water supply on and let the tank refill completely. Turn off the water supply and flush. Repeat this process until the water is within a half inch of the pencil mark. Congratulations you have just installed your Korky Universal Flush Valve Repair Kit. Thank you for choosing Korky.

    So my seat kind of sits at an angle and the front part of it is almost flush with the bottom of the tank. Do you think this kit would work for that? Thank you

      I have this same question!
      I've bought 2 different flappers trying to fix my leaky toilet, and neither work. I suspect it's because of this angle but I don't know what to do about it

    Dear Korky Expert,
    In none of your videos related to the flapper, have you explained whether to leave the hole in the flapper in "Open" position or "Closed" position, once the appropriate water level is achieved.

    • @KorkyToiletRepair
      @KorkyToiletRepair  Рік тому +1

      The hole position should be left in whichever orientation is needed to achieve the proper flush volume. If you need additional assistance, we are happy to help. Please call 262-763-2434 or email Sales@Lavelle.com. We are available M-F, 7:30am-5:00pm CST.

    i have some black rubber ring my flapper that looks like its decomposing/breaking up. so I want to replace it. and what doesnt make sense about this video is: at 0:27 when you remove the flapper, there is no OLD rubber black ring that you're replacing. you're just putting the new black ring on there as if there was never any to start with. At :50 you're gluing the black ring to the place where the flapper sits but my decomposing black ring is BELOW that. i have a decomposing lower seal, so how do you fix that????

      Your toilet sounds like mine. I saw another yt video where a guy fixed a leak on a toilet that looks exactly like what you described with this Korky seal kit. I think what its doing is reestablishing the seal as a 2" diameter opening. I measured mine and it is 2 1/8" diameter. I think the small difference from 2" can lead to leaks even with a new flapper because they have changed size by just a little bit from what they used to be. Did you take up Korky on their offer to contact them?

    The flapper provided in this kit doen not fit a Kohler water saver tank, In fact, the Kohler flapper at Loews does not fit this tank either. Still trying to find a proper replacement.
