    Love this thankyou. I bought an Edea some time ago to help with on-ice spins. My only immediately available surface was a very hard and slightly bumpy tiled kitchen floor. It was too hard and too slippery so I would crash off and the Edea would shoot off like a bullet! Although I escaped with no injury and the kitchen furniture wasn't damaged I pretty much gave up. Now it's the only option until rinks re-open so you've motivated me to go look for a piece of plywood or something similar. Thank you again. (Love all your videos.)

    Thank you so much for this! I just got my spinner and wasn't sure how to start, and I only got back on the ice last summer after years away. Your on-ice videos were super helpful already -- this is great and very timely! I feel like I'll be able to keep working on my skills even if it'll be a while before my rink reopens. I love this video and its a huge motivation for me to get on my spinner!
    I have one question though! On the spinner, I wasn't sure where my weight should be because the Edea has its rockers on the center and the rockers on your skates are at the front. Where should I put my weight on??

    • @HotelEdenMusic
      @HotelEdenMusic 8 місяців тому

      I believe you want to find the optimal position for both when you are on each. I find that, after using my off ice spinner for a while, when I get back on the ice, I tend to go a little heavy towards the toe pick, and have to adjust. Maybe see the off ice spinner as more for posture and centering training versus memorizing rocker location. I'm quite new and this is my experience so far.

    Nice steps for the off ice backspin. More practice of this and when the ice rinks reopen, the backspins will become powerful.

    I'm 24 and just now wanting to learn to figure skate, I hope it's not impossible at my age. 😓 I roller bladed a lot as a child, and ice skated with family sometimes and I was never bad at it. I'm just afraid of embarrassing myself at an actual ice rink, would this be good practice for someone who hasn't actually started classes or anything?

    • @jennaostroff6742
      @jennaostroff6742 3 роки тому +2

      I just started at the age of 20. I would say go to some open sessions and work on skating forward and backward and stretch every day. Don’t be afraid of embarrassing yourself. I see adults there all the time. Don’t let that get in the way of doing what you love.

    • @sydb9342

      @@jennaostroff6742 thank you! I've actually been looking into inline figure skates. I already stretch everyday but work a 9-5 m-f do don't have a lot of time to go to the rink! Another figure skater I subscribe to recommended the in line figure skates so may go that route, as well as get to a rink whenever I can so I can practice that as well. I just have to get the idea that I'm too old out of my head, I appreciate you!

    • @jennaostroff6742

      @@sydb9342 of course! Never too old. There’s a 70 year old man who comes every day to skate. I’m very lucky and have mostly online classes so I have quite a bit of time to skate, but you can certainly utilize weekends and mornings to skate. Some rinks open at 6 or 7 depending on where it is, and of course if you have inline skates you can practice whenever. Hope this helps!

    Are you supposed to spin with your dominant leg or the one with better balance? 😅

    • @hannahz3377
      @hannahz3377 2 роки тому +1

      Both! You use both feet in the same direction. Your stronger spinning leg is the regular spin, and the opposite leg is how you do backspins. You do each spin one at a time. It’s much harder to spin in the opposite direction so most people don’t.
