Got my Jerrys spinner 2 weeks ago . Thought i would never hold a spin on it . I am 61 . Now i am addicted to it and already doing cross foot spins . Been skating 2 years ! UK
You are giving me so much hope, I thought I was maybe too old taking it up at 39, just started after 5 weeks I'm in love, I will get the spinner to help me during the re-lockdown, thank you both you and Coach Julia!
I’m a beginner skater and bought the first kind you showed. Was relatively cheap and plastic. I’m not particularly big but I broke it :( snapped it right in half. And it scratched my floor. Wish I would have seen this vid before I did but just ordered the Jerry spinner. Kinda really excited for it.
@@CoachJulia Thanks! I hope you're getting sponsorship for this btw lol your vids have helped me so much with learning proper form. Started taking classes officially before the quarantines kicked in and I was ahead of the game because of your tips!
So helpful, thank you Julia! I had seen the other two spinners on Amazon before, but I had no idea the Jerry's spinner existed! I just dislocated my finger falling while skating, and am going to take a few weeks off to ensure it doesn't get re-injured. So glad I can still practice at home! Going to get one now!
I have the first one and I have never experienced the heel pitching issue you've mentioned. The only thing I don't like about it is that I can't use it outside without a mat of some sort, but other than that, it's very authentic feeling. My spins have become more centered and my arm positions have improved dramatically.
@@rarianaw I have that spinner and the only problem for me is that it travels around, which is very annoying bc i always end up bumping into things. but it was never hard to use even when i first tried it as a beginner. also it could kinda work on carpet. you still spin, it’s just that the friction slows it down so u can’t spin fast/for a long time. it’s also harder to balance w it if ur on a carpet.
Yay, excited to see some spinner content! I have the Jerry’s spinner and the Edea spinner. The Jerry’s spinner definitely takes a bit more work because you really have to focus on one spot, there’s no traveling allowed.
Omggg, I'm SOO grateful for your video, I've been searching for some spinners and I was thinking about buying the cheapest one, but now it's easier for me to choose
I have the pink spinner, (it was bought first due to price point..which you get what you pay for) which I can say can be dangerous...and its frustrating when you are just learning your spins..it can also lead to developing bad habits to have to compensate for being pushed back on your heel to catch yourself from falling. I also have the last spinner..which is my all time favorite! It hits all my checks..its sturdy, you can put it anywhere, won't damage your floors, stays in place, nice rotation if you're going slow or fast and its easy to fit in your skate bag!
Hi Coach, got my spinner, wow what a rush!! Before I could spin, I first held steady the start position to get the alignment, shoulder hip, knee, foot. to get my balance . Once I could do that, hold the position, I did the spin. A popular item, thanks to you, to be better, Jerry's maybe could make a higher end model using roller bearings instead of the ball bearings to make it more stable. Great Review !
The first spinner is a dance spinner and comes in a variety of prices. Mine is a higher quality one I got from my local dance shop that I’m able to use quite effectively
LovelyLiza Glad to heat you have been able to work with that style! I know several skating brands that make that exact same design spinner, I still prefer the two piece design. 🙂
For me the worst spinner is the last one. I can bearly balance on it. I love the fist one because it is the only one for me that I can actually spin fast without the weird triangle I have a hard time spinning. I saw reviews that the fist two are the best ones?
Another great video. After watching this I went and got the Jerry spinner two weeks ago. Julia can you do a video on two foot turns. My wife is learning them but she keep do a U turn instead going forwards to backwards.
I bought the Jerry's spinner a few months ago thanks to your recommendation, and I love it! However, I just heard about a new spinner from Skating Spirit, which looks even better... it works like the Jerry's spinner, but it's smaller and round and is meant to simulate the feel of being on the blade rocker. I'm hoping you might review it in the near future, and maybe compare to the Jerry's spinner? It sure looks intriguing!
I am 45 and until now I didn't know that something like ice skating spinners exist. I knew only Fidget spinner😂 I am so in love with it. Have to buy asap.
Love your review and absolutely agree with your conclusion - Jerry's is best. Have had it and an Edea for some time to help with on-ice spins but found them both of limited benefit. Now however with rinks closed it's all we've got - aaarrrggghhhh! Looking forward to the tutorial. As soon as possible PLEASSE PLEASE!!!
It's also a metter of practice! I have the first, and I can do like 10 Spins on it. I just bought the second one, not exactly the same, it's a spinner from Tempish
We use a mix of Edea spinner and jerry’s spinner at my beginner group lessons! Jerry’s was the first spinner I ever tried. It’s really fun!! And once I got the hang of it a little bit, it was even more fun. I’ve only been skating properly for under 2 months, so I’m not even past my two foot spins. Gotta get myself one soon!!
Thank you so much for your video! 😊 I'm a beginner and have used the first spinner you showed and had the problems you talked about. I didn't know that there's a better spinner. So yeah I'm really happy you made this video. :D Greetings from Germany 😉
I don’t think that your favorite spinner is the best. The Edea-Spinner is made to practice to stay on the ball of the foot. It’s really hard, yes... but if you are able to do a nice spinn on this spinner it’s al lot easier on the ice. If you don’t have this curve on der the pad, you can stand on your heel and spinn. The risk to train a wrong technique is a lot higher. -Ger
This was super interesting thank you! I have the Jerry's spinner and I kind of like it but I find it really hard to do more than 3 revs as you just get thrown off it if you aren't perfectly centred. That's where I wondered if the Edea spinner has an advantage in that it travels? When I see people do combination spins or really long spins, it's always on the Edea spinner, as it's sooo hard to hold the position on a spinner that is fixed in place. I was thinking of buying an Edea spinner as well, but am hesitating a bit after watching this! They are so expensive for a hunk of plastic (about $70 where I live). The Jerry's one already cost me close to $100 so am reluctant to buy the Edea one if it's not amazing lol. Looking forward to your spinner videos, maybe that will help me with the one I have. Camel spins in particular are terrifying on the spinner!
Hey there. have you had any better luck with the Jerry’s Spinner? It is true that the edea spinners allow you to travel more, but personally for my students I prefer to have them focus on a centered spin rather than a long one. And the Jerry’s Spinner works for that.
I have the first and the third and would be considered a beginner. I am 34 and have passed learn to skate adult 1/3/5 and pre free skate and started free skate 1 pre coronavirus. I like the first one better actually as a beginner. The third one requires you to know how to spin and body position and is too unforgiving if you have no dance or ballet or skating background because you can't even get a revolution or two in without falling off without knowing where center is for you (I played water polo and did swimming, weight lifting, power lifting, gymnastics). I have also drawn blood with the third one since your skin can get caught, and I have small feet...not sure how people with big feet do it at all (9.5 shoe as male). Maybe they wear shoes like you are 😉 that's a smart idea. I use the first one in bare feet on smooth concrete floors in condo and am able to get onto the ball of my foot, and I struggle with finding the rocker for spins in my skates--they told me spinning would be easier in my own skates vs rentals...not the case! The rentals I was Good at spinning. My own skates the pick is so big there is no forgiveness between pick and runner unless it is perfect. I've been able to get up to 4-5 revolutions on the first trainer when on ice I have got maybe 3. I've learned body position, being patient, and not jerking my limbs in too fast. The problem with all of them is I literally get motion sickness for the rest of the day. Even thinking about it now is giving me motion sickness. When I spin, I find going the other way and taking breaks to just focus somewhere to stop my eyes from oscillating helps but doesn't eliminate the issue.

Edea spinner is very dangerous, it slipped under the foot and I flew into the table with my eyebrow. Now I have an injury there.
I wanna say that the one you liked the most is about 60.00 and I don’t think my parents will buy it for me
Well, sounds like you have another version that you have made work, so that is awesome!
I have a Jerry plastic spinner it similar to edea I wonder if that a good spinner?
My preference is always going to be for the two part style spinner, but you can learn to work with any of them.
Has anyone tried The Mad Spinner? Any thoughts?
I haven't tried it yet, but I have seen so many videos of it on Instagram. I need to get my hands ( or feet! 😆) on one!
Edea's newest spinner , the espinner is better than all the ones in this video.
Anyone know if spinners also help with rollerblading spin tricks?
It seems like they should be helpful, but a I can’t say for certain.
I tried the first one but it cracked since it can not support my weight.
that must have been frustrating!
Amazon doesn't ship this to the UK!

Oh no! What a bummer. I wonder if there is a similar two piece style spinner that will ship there.
@@CoachJulia one option I've found is called a lazy susan, might need some craft work though.
when using the edea spinner, is it really like how you do a spin on ice?
None of the spinners feel like how you spin on the ice. But some of them can do a pretty good job of at least letting your practice.
@@CoachJulia Thank you!
This last spinner is the worst. It does not give You the real feel on ice . It gives You 100 % stability and that stability you can not have on ice
I respected your opinion, but wasted my money. So far, the other ones are much better. And the jerry spinner is not returnable!!! Beware!
How can get this spinner ?
Michelle Ma Here is a link where you can get the spinner... amzn.to/2CQPVzd
Full disclosure: do you have any kind of Financial relationship with Jerry's?
Nope. No affiliation.
Julia! Marinda pointed me here! Great to see you! Personally plus! Love to talk about some acting I’ll be casting for next year. Advice, please?!? Love the show! 🥸 - Ed Masi
AWESOME! THANK YOU :)
