Really old weathered paint is also a good anti-theft keep your car dirty for some reason thieves rarely steal dirty cars.
Hey Scotty, my Dad Pat Parrish needs to know where the 2011 Toyota Camry LE 4 cylinder's transmission dipstick is located!?! We didn't know if the Camry's transmission system was sealed or if it has a dipstick, so we can check the transmission fluid.
Thank you Sir. My Dad Pat Parrish loves your channel. We are right up the road from you in Nashville TN. We appreciate you sharing all of your knowledge

The best anti-theft in the US is a manual transmission, but the rest of the world needs a different method.
My girlfriend asked me to help her find her manual shift car, because she wanted something none of her kids could ask to borrow.
@@OtayBuckwheat Smart woman.
I drove nothing but stick shifts for about 25 years before I went back to an automatic. When I made the change I told my friends that my new initials are NCIS (no clutch irritation Steve).
If the world drove manual transmissions trust me they'd find a way to steal those.
Dog leg manual is better
My daughter's 2016 Kia Soul was top trim with Pano roof and push button start, but that didn't stop the uniformed theives from breaking a window and taking apart the steering column to find out that they couldn't steal it. That car recently got totaled, but she steered clear away from Kia and Hyundai and bought a Mazda instead. 😅
My daughter’s Soul started burning oil at 90,000 miles and she religiously changed oil every 3000 miles. She just bought a Corolla Cross hybrid. No more Korean cars
I've been saying for years Kia Hyundai use poor cheap wire harnesses which turn into electrical problems on the vehicles & now fires, I had a 16 Sorento what a nightmare almost everything broke electrical issues up the a** battery continually dying, moon roof wouldn't close just a disaster, they entice with the designs of the car but reliability eventually catches up to you... I remember Hyundai back in the 80s Pony Stellar were also disasters.
Great commentary!
Scotty confirmed we must check the issues on the car before going to the mechanics. This is good when we have a manual transmission.
The Kia Rio LX hatchback was a good zippy little car. Handled very nicely. Discontinued but hands down best bang for your buck. 16,500 msrp
Doesn’t it have engine problems? Like the Forte
It sure was a nice car for its market, sad there aren’t better alternatives

Installing a spring loaded toggle kill switch under the dash has kept my vehicles safe from theft. Old tech works.
I own a 2011 Elantra with key, 110K miles. Best car I've ever had. Zero issues. Made in Korea. However, I am very upset about the theft recall and about the other 10 recalls I never will go to dealer for to fix. I will just use the club when parking in shady areas. I won't buy another Hyunda/Kia ever again though.
My Sonata was on the list, dealer did the upgrade for free.
keep the anti-theft bar on anyway, otherwise people will still break your window and dash trying to steal it.
@@johnsmith-sp6yl The dealer put an "anti theft equipped" sticker on both front windows. Still, I don't drive in high crime areas that much.

The Kia problem was only in the USA strangely, I wonder why? (Maybe a missing law)
Maybe because you can only get Baloney in the US ???
Yeah maybe we should make car theft illegal? No, better just sue the companies that "make it too easy" to steal their cars.
They better give me more than $22 I had to buy a new car after my forte was stolen and totaled.
I sold my 2018 Hyundai Elantra GT with 32,000 miles because the insurance was too high due to theft, and I purchased a 2017 Toyota Corolla with only 27,000 miles.
My mechanic said I dodged a bullet.
The 18' GT is relatively reliable. It's the 17s and back that are awful.
I certainly have dodged the bullet after selling my 2017 Kia Soul. I eventually bought the 2010 Toyota Prius. That was over 3 years ago.
@@TheUnreadableUserI can confirm this. 72k on my ‘18 Elantra GT. No issues so far, Oil Change every 3750 mi, never misses a beat. Non oil-burner.

I had a car where every time I plugged in my cell charger in power outlet it’d blow fuse (replaced) plug in and u can hear pop! (Fuse blow) I found a penny inside the outlet so used a plastic pen cap and got it out & put new fuse in and worked fine for few days. Then suddenly it stopped working and the fuse was fine the back outlet works so I just plug into that one instead just had to get a longer charge cord to reach front from rear of center console. No biggie.
But still annoying. Someone told me I’d have to replace the whole outlet and wire it again.
had a manual 2007 kia rio a great car when gas was $4.30 a gallon in 2008 when everyone was sitting at home. only problem was the timing belt. it never broke as i changed it at 80,000 miles but there is always that threat that it will break.
I'm looking at a 2005 Honda accord lx and for some reason all the breaks lock up? Then after a awhile they will let lose? And work for about four or five times then just lock up? The metering valve as been changed and also the booster there a adjustment that was missed by someone else?
I'll never get why an auto maker should be liable for criminal behavior - it's ridiculous.
Because when those years of cars were made it was government mandated to have immobilizers. So they broke the law first.
Is Video Archive okay with polluted rivers and lead in their pipes?

They are not clowns Scotty. If its an old car and engine light comes on, if its running ok ignore it. I took mine to 3 garages and wish i hadnt. Various parts changed and it still came on. Ran like a dream!
Scotty hope you and the family had a blessed Easter
So, if your car is stolen it is not the fault of the thief or a justice system that refuses to prosecute the thief, it's the car company. What is the world coming to?
They make cheap crap ....thats the point......you dont see this problem with better brands....
@@richsweeney1115 So, a thief only wants to steal cheap crap that breaks down as they make their get away? I guarantee the most stolen cars do not include Hyundai or Kia.
Unpopular opinion. As much as I don't like Kia they should not have to pay for someone stealing a car the person who stole the car should have to pay period!
Generally those people are low income and the most valuable item they have is a smartphone or shoes.
They should, problem with that is a lot of the times the person never gets caught, and even if they do most criminals usually don't have the money to pay it back. Even if they court orders restitution, it could take 10 to 20 years to pay it off. That's if they don't re offend and end up back in jail, which is a high possibility. It's a no win situation.
Good luck finding those who steal them
Maybe so but the very serious problems they've had over the years with their vehicles its like they know they can screw over their customers and entice the! With a long warranty that cannot stand the test when needed.
Think making crimianls who can't/won't pay instead pay with their organs would make an example lol
Hello Scotty, I just purchased a 2015 Honda Accord Sport with 93K miles. The vehicle runs great but there is a slight cabin noise, and it sounds like something is loose and vibrating, but I could not find anything. What could be the reason for the noise? Thank you!
Hey Scotty what do you think about 2008 Toyota Prius hybrid hatchback
if it has a lot of miles dont buy it for a lot just get a new one instead. battery usually needs replacement around 100k miles
@@tonycruise Absolutely incorrect.

And even Toyotas quality has slipped...I wouldn't buy a new one...besides, buying new is a waste of money...they're not made as well as they were, they're still overpriced...and you lose like 20 percent of the value when you take it off the lot....
@@richsweeney1115 well, buying a used car is no good either they cost more than a new car...... if you cant afford a new car then just walk or get a very old toyota.... all cars cost money nowadays but people want to be show offs, they are not happy with normal cars they want something new looking

I don't drive anymore, but My 1987 Hyundai Excel was a pile of Junk.
I had a friend. Same. Big warranty. It was needed. It was back to the dealer a lot.
by 1996 they were reliable cars..great cars.
A software update won't fix the missing hardware - engine immobilizer. Hyundai & Kia were probably just trying to cut costs by neglecting to include this feature
Easy connecting those dots.
There are many old Hyundai*s in Europe, they are actually good cars, no rust and high mileage , if you service them properly with the Hyundai service intervals( not only fill the oil like they often do in the USA.)
My local mechanic quoted me $700 to change 1 rear hub assembly for my 06 Acura Tsx.

The Problem was corrected in 2021. All car companies have recalls and lawsuits.
Not all of them have a challenge on TikTok because everyone knows they’re easy to steal, That’s a Hyundai, Kia special. Most other companies figured out the immobilized system in like the early 2000. Like my guy BFFR

Took my Smart Car into the dealers for brake work. 6 weeks later it was time to swap over to the summer tires. It took more force to remove them (torque spec'd @ 80 ft-lbs) than to remove the F250's wheels (150 ft-lbs). Apparently BMW mechanics don't know how either torque wrenches or scan tools work.

Second guess - Kia and Hyundai
Why does scotty keep waving his hands around 😂
Recently my wife and i got the anti theft recall on our 2017 Santa Fe sport. We didn’t plan on doing so, but it was done at the same time we got a free engine since it blew up due to oil consumption at 110000 miles. While the car hasn’t caused us too much financial pain, needless to say we’re looking to replace it with a Honda pilot or Toyota Highlander. Don’t buy a Hyundai!
Theyre junk....but you dont check your oil??
@@richsweeney1115 not as much as we should. life happens and it’s the wife’s car, she isn’t as mechanically inclined as I. it got so bad that it was burning a quart under 500 miles. My Autel scanner has adapters for the older BMW and other brands. It has a specific adapter for Chrysler vehicles, too.
Esther does the lemon law the manufacture pays a depreciating number. 3000 miles and ford would give me 75 % of what I payed for the truck. When picked up the prom leg was a leaky transmission they did not want to put a new one in they tried to repair it thus after the fourth time they say they had if fixed. I went there to pick it up and I looked under it and it was still leaking. That was it truck not even 6 months old I took it to a mechanic that new how to fix it. And he did put on 87,000 miles on it it never had a leak after he fixed it. Bought 5 new fords in my day and I will ever buy another new Ford in my life I am done with them

car theft was really bad in the 1980s and it was whites doing it along with blacks.
10 year engine and tranny warranty applied only when your car is serviced at the hyundai dealers
And even then probably argued over.
Scotty, car companies like any company will only abide by the laws they have to, to save money. From July 2001 it became compulsory for all new vehicles to be fitted with an immobiliser that meets the new Australian Design Requirements (AS/NZS 4601:1999). You guys are very late to the party. You would have thought your governments would have stipulated this a couple of decades ago for such a high volume of car sales.
Best anti theft is good hearing ,mean dog and an effective firearm that you are proficient with. 😁😎👍🏻
But why are the companies getting sued just because street thugs and kids are stealing cars? This makes no sense. Kia and Hyundai are not responsible for the actions of others!
