Wear a helmet!!!! Your car might attack you!
Give me a 65 Mustang and I'm good or a 65 Chevy Impala 327 v8
Love gtis! When I was a kid my dad bought a 1980 vw rabbit deisel 😟 off the showroom floor,,,,I'm like nooooo wtf you coulda got something awsome
Years ago when I was a kid we were visiting my aunt and she had a 65 Chrysler Imperial. She took us for a ride in it and I was in the front passenger seat when she showed us the A/C. It was the first time I was in a car with A/C and it was cool both figuratively and literally as icicles formed on the blower vents so as a kid I thought all car A/Cs did that but I guess it was just the Chryslers back in the day
If the car doesn’t kill you, the car payments will.
😂😂FUNNY
Don't tell anyone.
Das da troof
And the Insurance !
The good thing is most of those cars are gonna wind up in city impoundment 😂
I remember watching a recent video about the bottom five selling car models in the US. Four of the five were from Dodge/Jeep/Chrysler. That corporation is in complete disarray. I would never recommend anyone to purchase ANY car or truck from that corporation, ever.
Quality control is poor from most companies these days. It's sad.
Totally agree.
Except ford. at ford quality is job one.
@@k9underdamn, what’s the 2 then?
@@k9under nah ford sucks too. scotty has talked about it
L😂L
I was a QC inspector at a company but quickly learned they only care about production. Nobody cares about quality anymore 😕.
May all your faults be consistant.
My ex-employer have a long tern QC inspector for military equipments, and hardly see any defects escape, when these inspectors went to work for commercial company after they were laid off or firing, none of them last for more than 8 months!
Everything changed after the pandemic.
The airbag issue is a Takata issue. It effects every car brand that uses their airbags.
It might be one of the other 10 companies worldwide who make airbags, I'm sure Chrysler doesn't use Takata brand anymore......🤔
They make exceptional race harnesses
TRW & Autoliv is the make Chrysler use!
One of Scotty's best episodes. I love how he pops the electric balloon! Also thanks for injecting reality into the gas mileage fantasies of the engine downsizing crowd. Bottom line is always how much energy it takes to motivate a certain mass. Scotty is the Isaac Newton of the automotive field.
I can tell you after years of dealing with GM trucks and SUVs from 2000-2006 almost every transmission failure I've seen comes down to three things
1. Neglect. Failing to ever change the transmission fluid and filter within a reasonable time. I see these 4L60s fail all the time around 150k and the trans fluid is black as oil and burnt from years of hard use and neglect.
2. Worse, the rare transmission fluid change where the lube shop backflushed the transmission. NEVER do this, you will kill the transmission within a few thousand miles after that. Used car dealers are notorious for this as well.
3. Abuse. The death of truck transmissions is when you get stuck and "rock" the transmission shifting between reverse and drive or 1st gear. This will destroy a transmission and even the transfer case which is normally something that never fails. If you see evidence a used truck was off roaded, take a really hard look at the transmission before buying.
Agreed. My father-in-law has a bullet proof 3800 but the car will be scrapped long before that engine fails because he just won't let me drain and fill the transmission fluid. It's 18 years old now and not a good idea to change it. Sad.
Thanks for your insight and knowledge sir. Appreciate it.
Ok, from The Snow Belt of The SouthSide (Chicago), lemme get this straight. Back in the 20th century before traction control and darn near everything was rear-wheel-drive, we were told to "rock" our car out of a parking space or wherever you got stuck. Now I'm hearing to do it SLOWLY. I also hear to Never let a Place like Aamco transmissions "power flush" your tranny; that your tranny gets used to the fluid in there. Just do a simple drain and fill. Isn't it the computer that adjusts to your driving habits?? Your comments'll be appreciated.
Had 2 1990's Suburbans. Quarter milion miles on each. Never touched the transmission fluid. Did some towing. Not much.
With an auto you should never have to change the filter. Just the fluid. If the filter gets plugged up something is breaking down inside. Lots of trannys now that you can't change the filter too.
The old Chrysler slant 6 engines were nearly indestructible and got good gas milage many clocked 500,000 miles.
gotta love the v8 being more efficient then the straight 6💀💀
@@mplslawnguy3389 Google's famed "Auto Correct" attack's again.
When Crysler started making distribitors of plastic with plastic welds to hold metal internal parts they were on the downhill slope.😮
Nice…the only thing missing is the “Front towards enemy” message.
A Claymore air bag. 🤣
Well played Sir 😂
A few of us remember seeing those words sir!....the dedicated few🏆👍🙌
If you remember on the back it said do not eat
It Must Sicken And Sadden You To See All This Garbage Being Made And Put On The Streets Of Your Country Scotty !!! 🤮🤮🤮
In-line 6 engines do tend to last longer
"First we overlook evil, Then we permit evil. Then we legalize evil. Then we promote evil. Then we celebrate evil. Then we persecute those who still call it evil." Fr. Dwight Longenecker
“In the Last Days, Good will be called Evil and Evil will be called Good.” Are We There YET ?
Yes we are there. The fourth horseman have arrived. Be prepared and hang on here it comes guy.
Well said.🌒
My brother bought a "new" Ram Diesel 3 years ago.Still waiting for recalled parts.Drives his old chevy.
A turbo 4 cylinder in a full size pickup is such a moronic idea 😂
Chrysler needs to bring back the slant 6' better than that new six!
An excellent engine!
That's what I just said above. Give me an old Valiant from the early 60s with the slant 6 or 62 Dodge Dart
Bringing back an engine would not help. Throwing out the c-suit will
Edison motors in Canada do a similar thing as the train. They retro fit old logging trucks with DC motors to use the braking regen.
They recently got screwed over by their government with a dodgy grant program.
Worth a look.
Corruption with the carbon tax revenue.
Last 6 cylinder I towed with was a 75 Dodge Van with a 225, granted the transmission would eat up cheap u joints.
Toyota had a similar issue with inflators.
How dare you talk down about Toyotas on Scottie’s channel 😉
@@dunny614278 Facts are facts. And Scotti has talked about it before. 😂
And engines, and transmissions, and frames, and electrical, and suspension, and well anything. Toyotas are junk.
My BMW has a recall on the front driver's side airbag. There Takata airbags and contains metal fragments that will essentially be like grenade shrapnel. Thanks guys.
I love how the tesla super charger cords are so short that adapters do not allow non teslas to connect due the the cords being to short to reach🤣🤣
Planned obsolescence... express lane to idiocracy
In order to deter theft, automakers put the VIN number on several places on the car. It would be a lot of trouble to change everything that has the VIN printed on it
In Europe, trains are used to move people.
86 miles, underground, Acheviable.
How about installing 5 point safety belts like in race cars and disabling the gas (air) bags? You would not want to breathe what is in an inflated 'air" bag so it should be called a gas bag.
My honda cr-v had the same recall a few years ago also.
So where you're saying, Scotty is don't buy any of these damn new things.None of them are any good. They're all junk by an old 1980 Ford.F150 or a Chevy, whatever. But don't buy anything brand new cause. They're garbage. That's what you're saying right.I agree hundred percent
I'd personally expect to get to 300k miles on the same engine/transmission in a Ford F-150 with a 3.5L Ecoboost engine and proper maintenance these days with plenty of towing capacity.
While there is some merit to the added complexity means more breaking points argument, I've never believed parts are predestined to fail. Some parts fail; most in the first years of operation. After that, the properly maintained parts are the ones that last.
But, I mostly worked on things that get millions of miles (with turbos); not hundreds of thousands, so my perspective may be a little different.
GM 4 cylinder turbo= Fukushima 😂
I had a ford lightning when lighting storm came by
Don't worry, Scotty! I'm pretty sure they have a software fix for the side airbag problem. All good!
Weren't these cars with these defective airbags part of a nationwide recall?
Maybe not this company .
That was the older recalls regarding the Takata airbags, this new recall is on Stillantes & whichever of the other 10 airbag manufacturers they chose to put in their vehicles
Takata maybe
These are Joyson airbags. They bought the Takata Company, the recall you refer to. Joyson provides airbags to Toyota, GM, M-B, and many others. That never gets mentioned. The absolute best airbags are the Swedish Autoliv but they are VERY expensive.
The EV locomotive may be only for public transport, not industrial towing 😅
Clean and Green, yet so lethal. 🎉
That maybe true as long as the turbo works😂..plus they wear out a lot faster
Scotty and those picture inserts CRACK ME UP 😂😂😂😂😂 Pulling a Heavy Load lmao 🤣
That's right ...
Well, trains are many things. Here most city passenger trains are electric. Not with batteries, but with a top wire like a trolley. They can't pull much. There is no locomotive, all the cars have engines by the wheels. Most metros are similar.
Scotty as someone who is not very mechanical, what are some of the first steps i should take after purchasing an older used vehicle (125k miles)?
Scotty,
What was the best Dodge p/u V8 4x4
Old and new?
@2:59 'There's a reason I call Fiat, Chrysler & Peugeot the three stooges of car manufacturing. - Scotty Kilmer 😂
Fun fact: “fiante” in french means “bird’s poop”. Just like e-Tron (the BMW…) pronounces like “etron” literally means s*** stool. Europeans corporations have no excuses to make mistakes like this.
Scotty Kilmer doesnt know anything about modern french cars, since they are not sold in the USA and he is wrong about Peugeot.
_"Rev up your engines! ... But actually don't for the first 30-35,000 miles while you're breaking it in..."_ 😅
I would like to know when ram is going to have a recall for the hemi tick
The hemi motors have problems big time- the straight six has a much better chance of being a reliable engine for the long term.
😅
If...and that's a huge(( IF)) they manage to pair a reliable transmission with that straight six...I would consider buying my first Dodge- Not first gen though😂
No way, I'd take an old V8 any day. Remember the old slant 6 Chryslers in the 60s and 70s? Now that's a six I'd take they lasted many decades (out west) only the body's rusted out
There is no way any stellantis engine is lasting more than 50000 miles, especially a turbo 6.
😂😂 Are you serious? 😮
I have a 2007 Toyota Avensis with a 2.2 litre D4D diesel engine and, old and age-marked it may be, it's still a fantastic car returning circa 40 mpg on a 104 mile trip and (if it was legal) the capacity to drive at over 100mph.
Here in the UK, all cars over three years old are subject to a compulsory test (known as the MOT), if the car does not pass this test, it is illegal to use it on the road until it passes a re-test (you are allowed to drive it to the test centre for this!!).
If there are non-serious faults, these will be designated as "advisories" and listed on the certificate. This week mine was shown with 'advisories' both rear coil springs were corroded. Do I replace these springs or can I get away with a scrub down and a spray with protective paint? Remembering that road safety is paramount, rather than a "bodge job".
Your videos are entertaining and very instructive - thank you.
The Chevy trailblazers …the older ones…with the inline 6 gets 15 -19 at best for gas mileage …the v8 versions get better gas mileage then the smaller engines do….of course we would be getting 50 mpg if they’d stop mixing the fuel with ethanol and water
My wife drives an 06' Trailblazer that has 158k miles. Almost upgraded last fall but not at interests rates of 8+%. Cheaper to replace parts on this that need replacing.
i have a 2003 ram 2500 and it had the same recall on the air bag
I had s5.9 back in the day.
The small engine in truck thing is just government regulation crap - Ram 5.7 V8 - same mileage as the new hurricane. Tundra 5.7 V8 - same mileage as new turbo V6. Tacoma 3.5 V6 - same mileage as the new turbo 4. Come on people, wake up. Make them give us our 6s and 8s back.
I drive a 2019 dodge durango at work. It's a pos wish they would get explorers or a chevy
I don’t drive dodge truck 🛻 anymore but now I drive a ford truck 🛻 and I like 👍 it Scotty you are so right about everything you said about cars 🚘 and trucks 🛻 you have a great day 😮
Get a 1.9 tdi from VAG Group (VW, Audi, Skoda) or Mercedes BlueMotion Diesel if you want to safe on fuel
Chrysler stands for Company Has Recommended You Learning Engine Repair. Mopar Mostly Old Parts And Rust
Talk about a difference in engines my Tige 20V ski wakeboard boat had a 5.1L V8 in it. It turned out 340hp and had plenty of torque to pull multiple slalom skiers at the same time. If you know anything about ski/wakeboard boats, torque is needed to get slalom skiers up and out of the water. In the 2000's this was a common horsepower for the GM Vortec Engine. It had no high pressure EFI or pollution controls. .Numerous boat builders used this engine because of its longevity. It was not uncommon for these engines to turn over 3000 rpm for an extended amount of time when pulling skiers.
So many companies are ditching their V8s for 6 cylinders in the name of fuel efficiency, only to have the same mileage, or even worse. Same story with Toyota/Lexus.
you do have a flare for the dramatic
My Silverado has 250,000 kilometers on the clock. Replacing crappy stamped steel torque converter. But trans shop says all still good for the rest. They have a Ram 1500 trans on same teardown bench. Pooched after only 68000. The reason? Aluminum planetary gears crunched. Anything to make lighter is going too far.....
Hybrid Honda’s are incredible. If you’ve never owned one you should.
Indeed Scotty has a great choice with this diesel engine and a manual transmission. I love it so much, it will last forever.
Scotty I got to ask your opinion on HD trucks.
I have to pull 19000lbs regularly and it has to plow snow in the winter with a 900lb snow plow hanging off the front all winter.
Not interested in diesel’s as they really aren’t much better these days then the big V8’s offered by Ford and GM.
What truck would you recommend these days? ( currently running a F-250 with the 7.3 Godzilla V8 )
imagine the rig you could have if you put 20 or 30 grand into an old deisle or gas pickup that is already proven.
You need a ‘63 GMC 3/4t, 4x4 w/ the 60 degree big-bore 305V6! 👊🏻
I love Scotty but if you want EV info Check Out of Spec for that info.
Correct
I love this guy
Possible severe injury by a safety device. Really great idea Chrysler
If a battery-powered smartphone is convenient for you, this does not mean at all that a battery-powered car will also be convenient!😂😂😂
Scotland Sharing 🍺📡🍺
toyota has also had airbag recalls.
Yeah but Toyota's issues were more reliable and lasted longer and were cheaper too.
The physics of energy will demoonstrate that there are no free lunches every time. You can be pulling nothing but helper locomotives with feather weight batteries and the whole thing is guaranteed to stop running eventually. No true perpetual energy. Energy will not be lost but it will definitely change form it an unuseable way.
Will pulling the fuse make them safe?
"Stellantis" 😂😂😂😂
What happens if they run out of battery before making it to a charger?
My Ford f150 with the old style 4.6 L 2 valve engine gets 19-20 mpg combined. I agree Dodge products are crap.
Hey!Keep a portable GAS generator in the back and use that to charge your car!!
From your image the English train looks like an electric locomotive running off of overhead line. A lot of trains (about 30%) in Europe and Asia still run off overhead lines. Many trains and trollies in the US used to be electric with overhead lines. Chicago, Philly and other East Coast cities still run electric locomotive. Plus all subways are electric. And finally all diesel locomotives are actually diesel-electric locomotives. From what I have read it was GE that killed electric trains when they developed the diesel-electric. (Read bribes and low-ball prices to begin with.) Kind of like what GM did to passenger trains.
If GM vehicle are now only good for 50,000 to 60,000 miles, they are back to the normal service life before a major rebuild was needed back in the 1950's. Of course back them you could actually overhaul an engine or buy a good factory rebuilt engine for less that $500. Now just a rebuilt 2.7 engine is over $4600.
I've never seen any gasoline powered pickup truck get good gas mileage, even the small ones. It's just their nature because they're heavy and have poor aerodynamics. Only the diesels have had impressive numbers
I had a 92 Dodge Daytona Iroc RT i4 Turbo. In the nineties they could put together a solid 4 turbo, ran over 100K miles then I sold it.
Car manufacturers should pay consumers for there time and inconvenience to have recall repairs.
I love my Hemi..😄
It’s not the engineers, it’s the bean counters. It’s more expensive to make the v8 so they only want to make the inline 6. They still sell the vehicle for about same prices so they just want to cut costs.
Get an old car!
Might be old, but at least they work!
You are the master I agree 👍
Ah Stellantis.
Lord Willing eclipse tomorrow. Don't look directly at it!
Just disconnect them end of problem
The only thing better than Scotty on a rant is Scotty at 1.5X speed on a rant!
If we could harness the energy from his arms flailing around we could have power for a whole city.
Sounds like Johnny Cash's Song 1 Piece at a Time.
The grenade air bags make you drive safer. You try harder not to crash.
Just because they recall cars/trucks doesn't mean it will get fixed!😂
I don't want to be popcorn!
God bless you sir your a blessing
i have to go back and read insolent chariots again...
I agree with you Scotty cause i brought a 2016 Dodge Journey n it's a journey alright, it's been in the shop since i brought it n it was supposed to have been new, there wasn't anything new about it, i wished someone would have told me about Dodge vehicle's were a POS 😭 those v6 engines in them is crappy as heck, it has no pull 😭
Did you Google them before you bought? I wouldn't even ride in one.
I. Like. Your. Videos. Your. A. Great. Mechanic. I'm. From. Edmonton canada ❤❤❤❤😂😅😮😮❤❤❤
Scotty still telling it as it is .
I am adding a dining coach to my HO train set next week, then the primary coach. Pullmans. nice cars.
What are you pulling it with?
Exactly 😂. Electric forklifts can drive for 6hrs. But if you lift anything, it's 40 mins 😂😅
Not true, from a long time fork lift operator. Full charge lasts 6-8 hrs. Pallets of beer, pallets of kegs. Full shift. However if batteries not maintained, water replenished, they died quick
So Chrysler put claymores in the doors 😂
Next time I see a guy driving around with a helmet on I'll say to myself..."takata airbags..."
Unless he is drooling...!
I wonder if they did that crap Taketa did by not putting an anhydrate in with the airbag assembly (to help deal with absorbing moisture) to save money?
I thought these airbag manufactures learned after the Taketa airbag deal. Heck It's been over 10 years since the Taketa recall started and I'm still replacing Taketa airbags to this day.
I want a Opel. When are going to get them from Germany again they're a good buy, i was in Berlin few years ago and seen a white one for 7,999 € it was only about five years old. Same size as a Ford Fusion but much cheaper and very reliable
