It went deeper than that. Grant would brag that he was a millionaire and ultra successful - throwing money away in chat rooms and pretending other guys were losers because they didn't spend as much money as him. He was lying to himself and creating a fake reality - instead of realizing he was in a poor financial situation, relying on others for money.

This case was mind blowing but TRULY exhibited just how dangerous these types of internet addictions can override the brains ability to think clearly. What befuddled me was the fact that there was NO mental health evaluation ordered by the court or defense attorneys to bring in and discuss the state of mind that this individual was clearly evident. As a counselor myself I could see the mental issues screaming out from the beginning of this whole story. This guy was clearly dead inside already, he needed no death penalty. What also clearly stood out was there appeared to be most likely mental health issues that ran within these kids and possibly Grant was the weaker one who struggled more to manage. Very sad story.
You would think that any person who murders would automatically have a mental health evaluation. I agree and don’t think he needed the death penalty but also should not ever get out. The entire situation is awful.
@@Silvery12 the fact also that he left the MH facility in less than two weeks after parents persisted. I don’t think by any means this was an excuse but some of these people do not ever get the help they need in prison and or even on the outside. To kill your family is a level of depravity that makes you a monster but to kill his father and than use his thumb to access money from his account is so beyond inhumane it’s incomprehensible. And than to frame his brother?? If Jason was there he would have killed him too. I mean to look him in the eyes knowing what he did to their family this isn’t a person it’s a monster. The death penalty was too good for it. I think honestly it’s mostly sad because the online relationship is over.
To one if you watch Grant's reaction to his family's murder scene. All one can see is a huge amount of shame. The question is was it "what have I done or was it I should have done better for my family and not put them in debt?" What a crazy thing to do to kill those who supported you and even covered up a crime for you? Selfish act at best.

I've seen a million videos on this story but I just can't stop because this is such an intriguing one
Scary thing with the Grant case, was his sole surviving brother Jason probably would have been killed too if he was in that house that night! I saw the trial and Jason seemed like such a sweet guy. What Jason would have to endure mentally would have been unbearable.
It's too bad his family never pressed charges for the thefts. It would have saved their lives.
you don’t know that.
It most definitely could have! Stealing a sum of money that large CAN get you locked away for quite some time. And he couldn't kill them if he was locked up
@@aeconiglio he could have done that before he was locked up...
@@J5L5M6 still a better chance then letting him go
@Miles No I don't. But they wouldn't have died that day. He could have been in prison, or maybe being held accountable for once would have made him move out. Or get a job. Or anything He definitely wouldn't have had unlimited access to Webcam girls. He sat at home all day on his computer because he could. He stole money from every member of his family because he could. Even when he went behind their backs to take a mortgage out on the house or obtain credit under their names they did nothing. He is the monster they created. Maybe he would have eventually killed them anyway, but it wouldn't have been that day.
I feel so much pain for Jason, and the victims. His words in the interrogation room were so powerful.
I'm shocked by his ability to remain so empathetic and kind to his brother while mourning his lost family members. If he didn't care for his family, that would explain his ability to still find compassion for Grant.. but he clearly cared for his dead family and STILL had room in his heart to pity and love his brother, that he knew murdered his family. The guy is a damn saint.

So Grant Amaro got fired from his nursing job at the hospital for steeling medicines long before he ever met that Internet Model online. This leads me to believe that Grant had some major issues to begin with, like depression or drug addiction or both.
He was stealing a powerful anesthetic. Like one you need to be on a ventilator to safely receive. I don’t think it was for his personal usage, I think his creepy self had much more sinister motives for that theft. I mean, he couldn’t get a girlfriend in the real world, so I think he was planning on drugging some poor woman and giving her no choice but to be his “girlfriend”. This is what happens when you have grown men, your children, living at home and treating them like children.
I swear
