Hi, I have just changed my engine oil using the 0w-30 shell helix protect. My engine is definitely more quiet and idling feels smoother . My car model is the Toyota Corolla altis 1.8 G
For direct injection turbo engines, you definitely need good motor oil. This is because these type of engines generate more carbon soot that is mixed in the engine oil. My 2L Audi Q5 oil becomes pitch black after 4000 miles. My BMW E92 328i (has port injection) is good a 6000-8000 oil change interval. My simple rule is change your oil often and use good oil.
@asus fans try tiguan 1.4 allspace (not the r-line) try to.slam the throttle till the end. You will like it. Yet it also come with 3 years free maintainance.
For a 7year old 2.2 Ltr Diesel engine SUV in India OEM recommended oil grade is 15W-40. So won't it be a problem switching it to 0W-30 or 5W-30 ? Thanks in Advance 🙏

If you want to try 0W-30 I should think it should ne okay, since it does burn some. No harm doing it for one oil change: if it works, it works. If it does not, you can always change back. At most, your fuel consumption will suffer for 1 service interval. No, your engine wont explode.
Hi i own brv too 2019 model with 23k mileage, just had my engine oil changed recently with shell helix ultra 0w-40 , it was too late before i realised thats its beyond the allowed viscosity level of 30, should i get it drained immediately and changed? Please advise Thank you so much😢

You can use 0W20 since yr engine is of small capacity - less frictional losses

If it is eating oul, you may have a leak, or worn piston rings. Try fixing those things first, or any oil also cannot help.

You might have a dirty and blocked piston ring. Common problem for inferior engine oil, or over use duration engine oil.

That "w" means Winter . It means nothing to us here in Malaysia that has no winter. You only look at the "30" rating here.
