I’ll never complain about my grocery shopping trip to town again. I’m only 20-25 minutes from town so I can mine done in 2-3 hours which includes a lunch break. Never been on a 2 day grocery shopping trip before. Your bonus is you get to live in Alaska I don’t
I live in New Zealand and I'm literally five minutes drive from the few supermarkets we have here. I always find it exhausting although I'm terminally ill but even so I'm appreciative of the convenience.
I could maybe guess at how much of some things we would need for a year, but when it comes to snacks like chips, even the super size bags you get at Costco would go pretty quickly. I applaud your ability and willingness to live frugally in order to finance these trips. I am sure it takes a great deal of meal planning and substitutions to stretch the food as far as possible. Thanks for taking us along on your trip.
I am glad you get it. Some people act like they never eat snacks. We definitely have to stretch them out. Eventually we will run out. If we travel, thats usually something we buy when we are out of town.
I love how you fed your gorgeous wee boy in the middle of the supermarket. I firmly believe that babies needs always come first no matter the typical judgemental things people feel they can express. This is the first video I've watched from your channel and I'm excited to watch your other videos. Xx
Thank you, I was not as comfortable with my first. This time I feel more secure in my motherhood. Welcome to our UA-cam Family! Thanks for joining our adventures.
That was one impressive shopping trip. Joe's packing skills are second to none. I love the new truck, you can fit so much in it. It great that you managed to get a lot of your shopping, you can now face the winter fully stocked. Marlin is cuteness overload just like Bonnie. Have a wonderful and fun filled week 💞
I really like to watch your grocery hauls, I would dislike having to put it all away. Kids look happy and healthy and I ‘ll bet BonBon is going to love her swingset. Happy Birthday Bonnie! Take care Lewis fam.
You make it look so easy shopping for 6months or a year, must take some planning and saving, I couldn’t imagine having to do it. My supermarket is only five mins down the road. During the pandemic I did a lot of bulk buying so I reduced the amount of time going out, I now have lots of stock in, not much space to keep it, but it’s a comfort knowing I will not run out soon. You always look happy while you do your massive shop, I’ve noticed that shopping in the smaller towns in Alaska is very expensive compared to where you shop. Really enjoyed seeing your Happy shopping trip. Xxx
Space is definitely a consideration when doing these big shopping trips. People always say we didn’t buy enough, but we only have so much room. We don’t have a basement to put things, like a lot of bulk buyers.
May I suggest making brown sugar from scratch? Simply mix with a beater plain white sugar with molasses (1 cup sugar: 1 or 2 tablespoons of molasses). The amount of molasses determines whether you get light or dark brown sugar. Way cheaper than buying brown sugar plus on your large grocery haul you just have to buy bags of sugar along with usually one bottle of molasses. Hope that this works for you, 😉.
I can say those of us living in the lower 48 don't understand the amount of planning and saving to do what you do every year to stock and get ready for the winter.. Purchasing the truck getting the shopping done and the getting back home..
I love the camping on deck! Everyone ´s situation is different. With the shipping prices of the barge before and the ferry seem quite reasonably priced and efficient. Even on the mainland, in a Capitol city, I have an annual shipping budget for Amazon prime & weekly local produce delivery. Aldi has very tasty Organic GF pasta for $2/ lb. Costco no longer carries it. If you have an Aldi in AK or Seattle an annual pasta haul would run about $3-$4 a pound with barge shipping. If that would help you out any. They also have other great GF foods, baking mixes at $3-$4 plus barge, so about $3.50-$5 a box with barge. A Seattle Asian grocery would be great for rice noodles, ramen, and bulk spices. The rice might be less expensive too. Just if it helps! All the best ❤
Missed seeing your guys vlogs on here haven't seen any on you tube for so long ,hope all family are safe and well . Congrats on your new baby ,hope bonnie is loving being a big sister and hope she has a blessed 3rd birthday 🎉🎉🎉
Hello from Ohio. New here. Wow a big haul. My family is small. We go shopping 2 or 3 times a month. I'm disabled so I can't do long hauls. You have a beautiful family. Your 3 yr old will love her play set. Enjoyed watching your vlog.
How interesting! The Costco prices were very similar to here in Washington state, but the Fred meyer ones were considerably higher! Thanks for sharing :)
It must be a man thing, my husband got so excited over our new water hose too.😂 Babies are growing up and are beautiful ❤️ Happy birthday Miss Bonnie..I hope you have an awesome day 💚
Love these hauls so interesting..I am an old lady I couldn’t do it lol ..I go crazy on the chips too ..I love the Hawaiian chips..now I have to go buy some..the truck was a genus idea ,,drive it right home instead of having to go get it ..great idea ,,
I'm new to your channel and I'm enjoying watching your videos. I just want to thank you for how respectful you are at breastfeeding. Thank you both for allowing us a glimpse into your life in Alaska.
I live in Juneau and do 3 shops at Costco a year, we always end up with way more then we can use lol, but my babies are grown . Surprisingly we buy almost identical items ,except for baby stuff ! Hope to run into your family sometime at Costco or Freddys, my Son works at Search so I'm sure you've seen him. Do you have a garden ? We grow most of our veggies, ,we have 3 freezers, and keep them stocked ! Your family is beautiful, can't wait to see your next video, be blessed!
Thats great. We have probably seen you before :). We do have a garden. Its so fun to grow our own vegetables. We also have 3 chest freezers. One has fish, one has meat, and one has other odds and ends :).
We recently moved and when we got here we asked where the Costco was ... 8 hours away in Winnipeg Manitoba! I was used to going at least twice a week. I haven't been in 10 months. I order online and they have great delivery service, always within a few days we get our order. It is just not the same as shopping in -store as there are a lot of items you can't get on-line. Great video!
💗💗💗💗💗 happy to see your faces ❤️❤️❤️❤️ happy to see you all out and about... Marlin don't know if i spelled his name correctly i sorry...he is growing so fast...give Bonnie and baby hugs as well as you guys... 💙💙💙💙💗💗💗💗💗
Well this was my first video of yours and I am so happy I found you guys! Now I have to go binge-watch from the beginning! Beautiful baby boy and Happy Birthday little Bonnie! 🥰💝
I just found you. I wish you could slow down a little so I could make out the items. I love the way you do your vlog. I would watch until the end and wouldn't care how long it took. It is so soothing.
Thank you for sharing, I follow yiu all the time, not just Costco hauls, lol!! Actually enjoy seeing these shopping trips though. Will this take you through the winter except for staples bread, milk etc.. Bonnie will be so excited , that's an amazing gift. Thanks again for sharing!!
New subscriber here having been awake since about 3.00am (now almost 6.00am) here in the UK and randomly scrolling through UA-cam when I came across this vlog. Very random even for me but saw all the red hair and decided to watch, lol. I don't see many red heads on UA-cam recommended stuff and hubby and youngest daughter are red heads and we have to stick together!! Had no concept that people have to shop like you do in this video, I moan about my once a week trip to Aldi but will never moan again. I think we have several Costco stores in the UK now but we've never used them, maybe we should as it looks like you can get anything and everything. Anyway, going to watch some of your previous videos to catch up and then I'll understand why grocery shopping is like this for you. Hope your little girl had a lovely 3rd birthday and congratulations on your new baby boy, he is gorgeous 😍

Would you guys consider using more eco friendly cleaners, soaps and detergents seeing as you live in such a beautiful place in nature. I try to use more natural products and they often don’t cost much more and really help the environment. I even make my own dishwasher tablets and they are as good as any bought ones. Just a question.

I feel this I moved from Dallas to a town of 32 people in Colorado where the nearest grocery store is an hour and 40 minutes away
These young people are great souls....I enjoyed the grocery trip....packed his truck bed ... somebody put credits on his "man card".
Great video

Its the law that you can feed your child in public places. But not everyone approves, but if they don’t like it then don’t stare at it!

The most impressive thing for me is that you are allowed to camp on the ferry deck! I grew up on an island the ferry always had so many rules.
Lol, yep. Sometimes the deck is full of tents. We are usually on for 24 hrs. So its nice to have a little privacy without buying a room.
The baby is absolutely gorgeous!
