Australia here.. Adore This Channel, you three soul's are so down to Earth, IKEA hmmm purchased two thing's when my son was little, screws missing from both boxes, never again. Bonnie is Adorable. How lucky you are to live my dream, to live in Alaska with the cold, snow, beauty. Thank you for letting us live the dream through your video's.. Kindest thoughts from Melbourne, Victoria, Australia
Awe, you are so very sweet. Im sorry you had a bad experience with Ikea. We where nervous because we did not get a chance to open it before hand. Im glad we can share our life in Alaska. Thanks for watching ❤️
That was one proper shopping trip, it must be so exciting to run riot in so many shops even with the ouch factor. You two definitely know how to fill a cart or four+. It was great to see you both and a little Bonnie moment. Sending love and best wishes to you all 💞
I only just found your channel, but I apparently can't stop watching your shopping vlogs... Even after watching you do your yearly shopping trips, I can't quite wrap my brain around the logistics of how you do this every year. It looks so physically and mentally exhausting!! A wild ride, like you said!! I am highly impressed!!! I think my brain would overload, and then melt. ;) Thank you for sharing your vlogs!! I will be checking out more of your videos!
What a great job! You deserve a nice day off at least to recover , is hard job but it is really nice to have most things at home specially those days with "those virus mutating" we never know when or if we will be " at home based " again ! So really nice video ! Thank you
I have a serious problem, because all I could think was “is that all the toilet paper?” Send help…..This was very educational, I’ve never seen this done before. Thanks!
Lol, I was sure we had a full bag at home of toilet paper, turns out it was almost gone lol. So we will probably have to get one more sometime when we travel. Thanks for watching!
I just yelled ...where's the chips mama....you did not disappoint. I love chips. This was a great video. I hope baby girl enjoys her big bed. You both are very awesome and fun.
Suggestion items that are double packages such as boxed mac& cheese inside of another box, take out of the case & put in totes. You won't need to pay for the outer packaging.
So interesting! If there's something you forgot or the shops didn't have, do you buy it locally? Or is the price too high? I'd love to see where you keep all those groceries at home, too! Do you show it in other videos?
We will usually wait until we travel again to buy it if we can wait. If not we will sometimes have it flown in with our groceries. If we are really desperate and need it right away we can buy it at the store for a higher price. We will be doing a video of our storage! Probably in a couple weeks.
Wow that was a lot of food! And bikes and a bed too. I couldn’t imagine. Looks like you have everything your hearts could desire. Does everything arrive ok to Kake? Anything melted, broken and leaking or crushed? Hard to believe summer is about over and now it’s back to school. I’m sure you guys all had a great vacation. Safe travels home. Bless your families, I’m sure they will miss you.
We are very fortunate that we can buy all that we need. I think everything got to Kake in good shape. Nothing broken, thank goodness. We are already missing the family. Hopefully Nana can visit soon!
You are not alone. Its so many items that it would probably take an hr to show everything and the prices. Maybe we will do a separate video next year with everything. I just didn’t think people would want to see that :)
one thing i have learned about shopping big hauls for 4 houses....you learn to pack the car well!!!....one of the girls at castco helped me load things in the car...and she looked at me going "this is not all going to fit...i looked at her and laughed going "oh it will, we just turn the box the other way, it will fit" she looked like a deer in the head lights when it all fit and i could close ALL the doors and still see out the back mirror and side windows.
Hi New fan here! Everytime i load my groceries into the car its like a sauna. It doesn’t even matter the weather. Its hot. Also its like a puzzle filling the car up.

I want to shop like this and I'm close to stores 😂 I don't love grocery shopping. I'm trying to get more and more everytime I go so we can have a stock pile so I don't have to shop all the time but we are a family of 6 right now so that's a lot of groceries.
Oh man. We actually like going to the grocery store lol. When we lived in Juneau for College. We probably went to Costco once or twice a month :). Hopefully you can find a way to go less though!

That’s so cool you guys are in Seattle area I’m from here and I have been wanting to ship items to anchorage this seems like a good idea can you tell me what shipping company you used? Thanks!
Hi! The only barge line that goes to Kake is AML ( Alaska Marine Lines ). I think there might be a couple other ones that go to Anchorage. Hopefully it works out for you.
I really missed your videos and seeing you guys and Bonnie too.. Can I ask a question..I don't know how your barges work, Why can't you just leave the stuff in your truck and take a Car Barge Over to the other side. You paid for all that Stuff anyway..I was wondering about how you guys did that..Thanks for sharing..
Hi! This truck we used was not ours and we do not have car barges in Alaska. People are not allowed on the barge. We also did this years shop in Seattle, WA :)
Yes! Quite an adventure lol. For our family it is less expensive to fly to Seattle from Juneau, so we do not take the ferry. It would be a fun adventure sometimes though if we had extra time.
@@LewisFamilyVlogAlaska I live in Bellingham and we have thought about camping on the ferry deck and making the trek up one of these days. We went to Juneau and Skagway on a cruise 2 years ago and I fell in love with the area.
That is a good idea, I have ordered some things in the past, but not everything will ship to our location. I did have to get some gluten free food off of there before we got home.
@@LewisFamilyVlogAlaska I noticed recently that they started delivering more of their food items to remote areas of Alaska including places like Barrow. They had things like peanut Butter, soups, flour, etc. might be worth checking into again for your area. 😊
Hey guy💞 question do they ever lose anything or broke something ? If so how do you go about I guess getting your money back what do you have to go through 🙃
That is very true. If we went through everything and did prices it would make for a very long video. It also takes a ton of time and we only really had one day to shop. We will try to think of something for better for next year.
Wow, that was quite the shopping adventure. It actually looks like a lot of work. Good thing Bonnie got to stay with grandma while you shopped. Extra fun time for Bonnie. Can’t wait to the totals.
If Bonnie could not stay with Nana, we probably wouldn’t have done it. It would not have been fun lol. We are also glad they got to spend extra time together before we left!
That grocery run would not last me a year. I would need at least 50 lbs of flour and sugar, I would of bought multiples of items to stock up for a year.
Does the local store mark ups end up being more than the transportation cost and time you spend? Just wondering-I would not even try to shop for a year-I feel weird when I do a month lol
Yes. It does save us money. They have to pay the same barge prices and still mark items up to make money. It would definitely be a lot weirder if Chelsea had not grown up doing the same thing.
We hunt and fish for about 90% of our meat, we gather berries and have a garden. I don’t think we will ever have the time or desire to do everything ourselves. We would not be able to do other things we love, like travel.

The barge charges by weight. The prices will be in the next video :)
You seriously should have invested in some ikea bags, would save so much loading time
Every good Costco haul includes prices?? Consider it next time??
That is very true. If we went through everything and did prices it would make for a very long video. It also takes a ton of time and we only really had one day to shop. We will try to think of something for better for next year.
@@LewisFamilyVlogAlaska Thanks!😊
I think their video's interesting enough as it is
Hello! Dawn, how’re you doing?
Thats very impressive.
Thank you
How do you all do Christmas shopping
A lot of ordering online. We try to shop when we are traveling if something jumps out at us, but we mostly end up ordering a lot online.
Unbelievable that it would be the same or more to buy at that stuff at home. You both must be exhausted.
It does seen ridiculous, but true. We flew back to Alaska the next day, so not much time to relax. :)
Where do you stay on shopping trips , if paying for accommodation how it add up?
We try to always stay with family or friends. In Seattle we stayed with Chelsea’s mom.
Always very interesting and thank you for sharing 🙏🥰 Love from Johanne, Norway
Thank you for watching! We want to go to Norway really bad. One of our not to distant future trips :)
Your little girl is absolutely precious with her cute voice.
Awe, thank you ❤️
I just found your channel. Why do you have to box everything instead of just leaving it in your truck and drive it home??
If you watch our first Q&A, I think it would help answer that question :) ua-cam.com/video/-zkv9p1mDIg/v-deo.html
@@LewisFamilyVlogAlaska You guys are just too organized! Thanks
You guys could pass for brother & sister.
Lol, we got that a lot when we first started dating.
Why no bags for the groceries
Do you mean, reusable bags? Costco never uses bags because most things are to big.
I am new to your blog… what do you do for work in that part of Alaska?
Hi, welcome to our UA-cam Family! We are both teachers. Joe is teaching right now and Chelsea is staying home with Bonnie.
@@LewisFamilyVlogAlaska awesome! I am a teacher as well. I am enjoying your blog!
Sustainable homesteading in the future?
We hunt and fish for about 90% of our meat, we gather berries and have a garden. I don’t think we will ever have the time or desire to do everything ourselves. We would not be able to do other things we love, like travel.
OMG!!!
