I glad you managed to get so much of your shopping done and sent home, and Bonnie's bed is absolutely gorgeous it must be a relief to you both to have a big store of supplies in. I do hope someone has looked after your veg garden for you while you were away. I can't wait to see you all enjoying a bike ride. It was lovely to see so much of Bonnie, and hear her beautiful giggles. Sending love and best wishes to you all 💞
Your daughter will have the best of two worlds living an island life and time spent in the more populated city. The key to success is as you have said relationships helping one another. I love your channel and someday hope to visit Alaska
I saw your dryer sheet and had an idea. If you still get baby wipes you can get the plastic wipe container and put dryer sheets in it. Keeps them fresh longer...💜
We never really had those plastic containers, but I think someone gave us something in one. I will have to see if we still have any and try it out :) thanks for the idea.
You guys stay busy, but it doesn’t look like it stresses you out. It’s great motivation for your viewers. Welcome back! I’m glad you had a great vacation with friends and family. What a beautiful array of house plants you have.
you guys are very nice to go shopping for others. i shop for 4 houses every 4 months....it's a BIG haul....nothing like your shopping for a full year...but it's a lot of work!! bless your family for your kindness!!
Sounds like you have a really great neighborhood friendship 🥰 I love how community comes together, from shopping for each other to helping getting the package home 🥰 Thank you for sharing and very interesting! You are a beautiful family 😊 Love from Johanne, Norway 🇳🇴 (yes I read that Norway was on your bucket list for traveling and some parts are more like rual Alaska, and have more dark winters and light summer, and others are more "regular" places. Anyhow I think you will enjoy the nature here, we have a lot of beautiful nature, just like Alaska 🥰)
People in Kake are so good at helping each other out, its so wonderful. It seems like Norway would be very similar to Alaska. We love to learn about other cultures.
I am so impressed with how prepared you are! I work hard to shop once a month with a meal plan and household stock up list. Doing it once a year is so hard! Great video!
Wow so much work for groceries! Guess I shouldn’t complain about having to go so far for mine 16 miles. Also, Bonnie is a little cutie, hope she enjoys her new bed
Your daughter is so adorable. I love watching these grocery hauls. We just bought a cabin in the mountains and the closet Costco/target etc is over 120 miles away. It’s going to be a huge change and I’m going to have to learn how to shop differently. Would love to see how you go about planning for the year!
You are the second person who has asked that. I am afraid it would not be a very good video. My family has been shopping this way as long as I can remember. So its a lot of going off of instinct. I will think more about it though!
I'm working on getting to the point of once a year shopping. I need to get a little better about figuring out how much I use with lots of stuff so that I can do that. Y'all did amazing!!
I am enjoying you videos and your family life. Very different from my life as a young mother. We live in Toronto , Ontario. I am now retired and love watching young family’s. Sending hugs and love….keep up the great work!💕
Hi Lewis fam-welcome home. I was shocked to see all the food and supplies you have in your house. But that means less grocery store visits, which I loathe. I order most of mine on the store app and then do store pick up. What does Bonnie think about being home now? Love Bonnie cam at the end. Take care, hope to see more soon.
Looks like y'all are pretty much stocked for a year. How often do you go shop for fresh fruits, vegetables & dairy? Also where do you go get it? Your daughter has grown so much! She's adorable! Do you live in your child home? 5K really isn't bad considering all you & your husband bought & had shipped. It's nice that you help out your friends/family & visa versa. I find it very interesting and it goes to just how spoiled I am having access to the grocery store and other stores whenever I need to go. Much respect! You & your husband make a great team! Stay safe! 🙏🏻
We get fresh food. Once a month usually or every month in a half. We have the fresh stuff sent on the plane from Juneau. We do live in Chelseas childhood home ❤️
Very interesting. You do a good job of storing and organizing. I was laughing to myself though because I have 3 teenagers and what you bought for a year would last us a month. :-D
Have you guys ever thought of getting buckets instead of those bags? Then you can get those screw tops to put all your perishables in there like flour and stuff not perishables but you know what I meant
I have to say I applude you guys cos that's amazing for a years full of shopping for 3 of you, yes I know that you haven't got fresh goods but you got boxes, a bed, bikes etc amgost your food shopping YES guys some of you may say wow that's alot but remember this family shopping for a year and they have to pay to ship it home so it's not easy for these guys so bear that mind everyone!! I do so enjoy your shopping hauls, I go Costco here in the UK and we don't have as many nice goodies as you guys 😩, I wish we did Lisa UK xxxx 👏👏
You guys have some awesome friends. I enjoyed you taking us through your pantries. Letting us be nosy 👀. Bonnie's bed is super cute. $5k average out isn't bad, especially since things just cost more now.
U are so pretty.. OMG ur daughter is a cutie pie and very smart. I love the way u and ur husband shop. I'm a new subscriber looking forward to doing some binge watching😊 to catch up!
I loved seeing all your adventures this summer with family in Seattle and your travels back home to Alaska. It was definitely interesting to see how things get from the lower 48 all the way to Alaska and then to your home in Kake. Thanks for sharing.
Always fun watching how things work regarding all of your groceries, etc. Knowing the work and cost involved is interesting. And, thanks for showing us where/how you store everything. You are fortunate to be in a large home. I'm sure it's hard to remember what you all have at home and what you all need especially when you need to buy so far in advance.
A few years back I bought a cupboard from IKEA. It was missing a part, they said I could only get a replacement part if I returned to store. That was 120miles away, can you imagine if that happened to you!!
I’m soo jealous!!! I don’t know how Bethel continued to survive long enough for me to end up here. It’s sooo expensive and inaccessible . So few options. You guys are blesses. I hope something happens in my future so I can end up somewhere where I can do what you guys do .
I've asked so many questions (I'm sorry!) but could you also do a hair tutorial? I love the way your hair looks when it's in a bun, and I can never get mine to look decent 😒
Hey guys glad to see you made it back home safely 💞 Bonnie is getting so big so cute adorable love the hair I have red hair too 😁 just wondering when does school start they are 🙄 do you have anyone staying in your house while you're gone like maybe a brother or something just wondering so the pipes don't freeze 🙄so everybody be safe and I see you on the next video 💞💜💙💚❤️🧡💚✌️
School started on Augusts 18th. I think. In the summer we do not have to have anyone stay at our place. Just someone to come water plants every once in a while. In the winter we definitely have to think about that!
I live in Denver where I can go to the store any time and my house looks packed the same as yours. I also have the same size family so I’m shocked at myself but I buy in bulk to save money.
Could you walk us through how you determine what you pick out (and quantity) when you do your dry grocery haul? I’m curious to see how this is done as I’m soon going to be living the farm life, and going into town for “more spaghetti” will not be as easy of a trip as it is now
I am not sure I am organized enough to explain it lol. I have watched my parents do it my whole life and kind of just go from what I know. Ill think about it some more though. That is very exciting. If we did not live in Alaska, we would probably live on a little farm :)
Man, if I only knew. We are working on becoming better at keeping a budget, but its a work in progress. At this point, we do not know. 🤭 thanks for watching!
Hi I just found you guys today….I bonded quickly with y’all…it might be the red hair lol 😂 I enjoyed this shopping vlog. I’m from Texas and I find it interesting how y’all shop for the year or most of the year at one time.I look forward to whatever else your channel offers. Stay safe & Stay well 💗🍁🍂🐿🎃💀🌬🍎
Hiya! Very interesting shopping trip. This is the second one of yours I've stumbled across. I'm really into minimalism ( haha just watching not really practicing) but I have some questions/suggestions. Have you thought of a bidet to help you with the TP situation? People were going nuts here when we had shortages! Also maybe powdered detergent is more economical to buy since it isn't filled up with water like the liquid jugs are. Heavier but might last longer?! Do you blanch and freeze your fresh produce to make it last? Does everyone do their shopping like this up there? How do single people manage their shopping? Have you ever done communal shopping and ordered a barge for the village / island?
We have not considered a bidet. Maybe in the future, but for now we like toilet paper. My mom used to get powered detergent, but its seems pretty similar in price and loads. We have blanched and frozen our garden vegetables, but we go through our fresh stuff fast enough that we don’t need to do that. A lot of people shop like this if they have the ability to. The single people I know still shop in bulk and just don’t have to get quite as much and it lasts longer. Some of them also don’t mind shopping in Kake, since its just them. People a long time ago did order as a group, but its the same cost now on aml if your one person or a big group. It used to be a better shipping deal in the past with larger quantities, but not now.
Thanks for watching! Honestly we don’t really have a budget. We are fortunate enough to have a good savings built up at this time and that makes doing things like this much easier.
So question about cars. Do you guys ship a car from your home to the mainland or do you leave one on the mainland or do you just borrow/rent. I used to live on Martha’s Vineyard and it was a 45 minute ferry ride and luckily you could take your car (needed a reservation).
We have two cars in Kake and then rent or borrow cars when we travel. Sometimes we will take the car on the ferry, but usually only if we need it to be fixed by a mechanic.
Aawww Bonnie is So Adorable, It Feels Like We your Subscribers are Apart of A Distant Lewis Family Watching This Little Angel Grow. We live on a remote island in Alaska. We have a store, but it is very expensive. Food is shipped to the store the same way we sent our stuff home. We do not have a doctor. We have a high level nurse, but no doctor.
I Realize This is None of My Business!! I Will Respect Your Answer. But, what do You and Hubby do For a Living, in Order to Afford Such Huge Amounts of Food and Supplies?? Plus Plane and Barge Fares Back and Fourth?? This Just Astounds Me!! You Must Live Very, Very Remotely. Love Your Videos and Your Daughter is a "Cutie Pie"!! Thanks!
I understand how it seems kind of wild. It is a very different life then most people live. My husband is actually just a teacher. We try our best to keep other expenses low so that we can get our food in bulk. Its really the same that others spend in a year probably even less, its just all at once.
I just found you guys and was impressed with your haul, is it that there is no local supermarket at all in Kake or is it just really expensive and so much more affordable for you to do the bulk shop, the bike and microwave I am guessing you would class as special items and just not have the shops there that sell them, interested to know what your local facilities are like and does everyone do their bulk shopping like you guys
I really love your channel, and how transparent you are up front about how much things cost in Alaska.. Can I ask you a question, could you drive to a Walmart or Costco a couple of cities away from where you live, or do you have to go over on a bardge....
I love how wonderful your friends are and how good you are to each other. Life in rural Alaska must be easier with a strong community.
It makes a huge difference when you have a close group of friends. Its necessary for longevity.
This is the 1st time I have ever seen you. I will be watching you from now on.
Awe, thank you ❤️
There is NOTHING in this world sweeter then a little one's giggle!
🥰
I glad you managed to get so much of your shopping done and sent home, and Bonnie's bed is absolutely gorgeous it must be a relief to you both to have a big store of supplies in. I do hope someone has looked after your veg garden for you while you were away. I can't wait to see you all enjoying a bike ride. It was lovely to see so much of Bonnie, and hear her beautiful giggles. Sending love and best wishes to you all 💞
Sadly our garden was over taken by weeds when we got home. We will share more of that in the upcoming vlogs!
I love your guys videos. It always relaxes me and I find life in Alaska very intriguing
Awe, thank you so much.
It's amazing how Bonnie wears her little mask! Glad you guys had such a great summer! Hugs from Missouri 🤗
We are so glad she doesn’t fight the mask very much. Its kind of a scary world right now.
Your daughter will have the best of two worlds living an island life and time spent in the more populated city.
The key to success is as you have said relationships helping one another. I love your channel and someday hope to visit Alaska
This is how Chelsea grew up, and she loved it. Awe, thank you so much. Hopefully you can visit sometime soon!
The process of getting all your shopping items shipped to Kake is kinda neat to watch. Thanks for sharing. 👍
My lamb.Lil Miss Bonnie is growing so quickly. We love your family friendly videos.May The Universe bless your family.
Its wild, she just wont slow down. Thanks for watching!

Thank you. We inherited most of the plants from Chelseas mom. Only a couple have died in 4 years. So we are doing pretty good.
Yay! I've been waiting for this for 2 weeks! Love your family ♥️
Lol, it was a lot of editing to get through. Thanks for your patience!
you guys are very nice to go shopping for others. i shop for 4 houses every 4 months....it's a BIG haul....nothing like your shopping for a full year...but it's a lot of work!! bless your family for your kindness!!
That is very kind of you. I am sure that is a lot of work. I am also sure that the people really appreciate it.
Sounds like you have a really great neighborhood friendship 🥰 I love how community comes together, from shopping for each other to helping getting the package home 🥰
Thank you for sharing and very interesting! You are a beautiful family 😊

Cute. She reminds me when I sleep during traveling.
That shopping haul is such a big chore. Wow! I love Bonnie’s new bed, it is really sweet.
I am so impressed with how prepared you are! I work hard to shop once a month with a meal plan and household stock up list. Doing it once a year is so hard! Great video!
Thank you!

I wondered the same thing. I do monthly but i can still go for fresh if needed. The planning would be crazy
Love seeing how you plan and shop and make it all work!! :)
Thank you! It is always an adventure lol.
Wow!!! It’s amazing what u store and how it’s organised.
Thank you!
I have to say - such a cute family... really enjoyed watching you all.
Bonnie saying "barge" was the most precious thing ever
Right! She keeps talking about it. So cute 🥰
I love your life! Thanks for sharing.

Im from Ireland and we really take for granted having grocery stores so close to us xx
Awe, so glad you enjoy our content. ❤️

Bonnie love your big girl bed you are growing so fast. Thank you for bring us along ♥️ love from London ♥️
There is a lot of stuff for sure! Bonnie is very happy to be home, but missing her Nana and all the family time.
I believe many are going to be short when the shortages begin again. Some are not preparing but the Lewis’ are way ahead of the game.
Love the yearly hault !
I really enjoyed this video. Where you live, looks beautiful. Lovely wee family. Thanks for sharing. Take care, Lizzi. ✌️🤗
Thanks for watching!
GOD BLESS you all! You're such. a beautiful family. Bonnie is so darling!*
You help out each other and that's great!
Thank you for sharing you life.
I just came across your channel. After seeing that, no more complaining about having to get groceries . Love yours and your daughters hair color
Awe, thank you ❤️
I can’t even imagine doing a yearly grocery haul! When I go to the store, it’s hard to find dry foods that aren’t expiring in under 2 months
I guess we don’t worry so much about expirations. Its just a made up number in our eyes.
Great video.
Luv Bonnie's bed, wish I had all that pantry space 💜
New subscriber and I already love your video/vlogs….Cute family🙏🏼❤️
Welcome to our UA-cam family! ❤️
Very interesting. You do a good job of storing and organizing. I was laughing to myself though because I have 3 teenagers and what you bought for a year would last us a month. :-D
Very true. My sister was just saying, I don’t know how our parents feed us all when we where teenagers.
I found lids today! I’ve looked forever. Glad you found some.
Oh man, so glad you got some. I think we lucked out on timing of them.
It’s really nice of you to help out .
We do our best!
Have you guys ever thought of getting buckets instead of those bags? Then you can get those screw tops to put all your perishables in there like flour and stuff not perishables but you know what I meant
I have never seen buckets of flour or rice at Costco. If they had them, we would probably buy them. We can always use a bucket!
Hi 👋 I’m a new subscriber from England 🏴 nice to meet you 👍👋🌸

You guys have some awesome friends. I enjoyed you taking us through your pantries. Letting us be nosy 👀. Bonnie's bed is super cute. $5k average out isn't bad, especially since things just cost more now.
Thanks for watching! I think 5K is pretty reasonable for where we live :)
Well I had to have a nose to see what you were buying.it's a hell of a trip just go get a bit of shopping.
$5000 seem pretty good for a full years worth of stuff
And the bed is adorable
Thats what we thought to!

I've asked so many questions (I'm sorry!) but could you also do a hair tutorial? I love the way your hair looks when it's in a bun, and I can never get mine to look decent 😒
Hahaha, maybe in the next Q&A ill do one. Ill have to think about how I do it lol.
You all have the most beautiful hair. Love the color.
Awe, thank you!
Bonnie’s hair is getting sooo long! It is an absolute pleasure watching your little miss grow up and your continuing family adventures! Love you guys!
You all did wonderful job
Yooo I love this. Honestly I’d love to organise all of that! But then again I’m just obsessed with organising…
That would be amazing. I love to see it organized, but its hard to take the time and I get frustrated half way through lol

I think we would probably be the same way even if we lived close to stores. We probably wouldn’t need quite as much stuff though. :)

Make sure to put flour and other grains in the freezer for a bit to kill any eggs of pests
I have not heard of that. Thanks for the advice.
Wow! Very interesting and thanks for sharing!! From Montgomery al
If I may ask how much do you spend a year on food / supplies?
I love your vlogs 💖 God bless your beautiful family 👪 ❤ Bonnie is soooo adorable !!! 💖

Why a bidet- use a flannel
We have not considered a bidet. Maybe in the future, but for now we like toilet paper. My mom used to get powered detergent, but its seems pretty similar in price and loads. Mmmmmm and I bet you know exactly where everything is 🤣🤣
Sure do lol. We all get used to our own messes, right :)
How many hours is the flight? Thank you for sharing.
We are limited on TP and Paper Towels at out Costco. Did you notice if you all were as well?
It was not like that in July, but I think it is limited now.
Thank you for sharing! This is so interesting to me! How do you budget for this type of shopping?
Thanks for watching! Honestly we don’t really have a budget. We are fortunate enough to have a good savings built up at this time and that makes doing things like this much easier.
Good job organizing! I'm impressed by y'all's energy. I'm afraid I would have collapsed the moment I walked in the door.
Lol, sometimes we wanted too. Thats for sure.

Love your channel. I am confused. Why do you ship your grocery. And is there life a doctors where you live.
Depending on the amount of subscribers they, they get paid for vlogging.
whoop whoop my "like" was #300 lol Yes I'm amused by that. So did you ever try the Can of cream style corn? what were your thoughts??
Very cool. We dis try the corn. It was fine, I did not like the corn was all cut up though. We will probably just stick with regular :)
We do have one general store in Kake, but it is very expensive.
I really love your channel, and how transparent you are up front about how much things cost in Alaska..
Can I ask you a question, could you drive to a Walmart or Costco a couple of cities away from where you live, or do you have to go over on a bardge....
We can not drive off of our island. We would have to take a ferry. :)
another one!! :). yea!
