I really enjoyed your shopping trips. That is a great idea to put the prices on screen, most people don't do that. I look forward to your next trip. Thank you!!
Wow those prices are expensive compared to here in Ohio. I have family in Alaska & I understand it's hard to get to the store.....they drive 3 hours to the closest store. Thank you for sharing 😊
I was born and raised in Juneau! We went to Costco every other Saturday! When I was 10 my dad was racing me in the rain to the entrance and accidentally stepped on my yoga pants and I ran right out of them. I was standing there in just my Winnie the Pooh underwear at the entrance totally frozen while everyone giggled and pointed😂
That was a fantastic shopping haul. You never fail to amaze me as to how you manage to pack the truck so efficiently. I think you did really well cost wise, considering everything you got. I bet Bonnie's face was a picture when she saw all the fruit and veg. I hope you got everything you needed Have a wonderful week 💞
🌺 Aloha, I love your vlog 👍🏼 I wish I could spend all what you did. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼Thank you (Mahalo) for sharing! Omg! Not done yet! 😂 Next day, YES! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 Round 3; still not done! 😂😂 it seems that I have gone shopping with you! Awesome! 😘❤️
I have never been in a Costco, it sure looks like you can get everything you need there.. I glad to see your videos, I love watching them..Thanks for sharing
These are always so fun to watch! I was amazed at the low prices on your shrimp and chicken vs where I live in the Midwest. That being said, the produce there is higher. A toss up I suppose. Always love to see your Tetrus sorting/stacking! Thanks for sharing!
Hello. I so enjoy your shopping trips to Juneau.. I have been there a couple of times and love it. I am in Washington State so not as far from you as most. Missed Bonnie and the little guy.. Enjoy your summer…
I am moving to Juneau for work. I am crossing my fingers that I can make it work there. I have a home here in Utah that I am trying to figure out who is staying here while I am in Alaska. I'll be in Juneau for 36 months. Renting for my first time in over 23 years, lol.
Amazing haul! Do the freezers keep everything frozen and cold on your way home? I'm figuring it was still cold there when you videoed this. That truck was packed to the max!
We sent the frozen food on the plane with Joe. It probably would be fine in a cooler or freezer though. You can watch Joe take the stuff on this video. ua-cam.com/video/zlccRbC9JOQ/v-deo.html
Hi, thank you. It was a lot easier to post once a week with just one kid. Two kids = a lot more going on and less time to work on videos. The water does come almost all the way to our house. We are right on the water. Its really shallow for a half a mile out. So we do not usually get much for waves or anything like that.
when non-local family comes to visit...do you send them a list of what to bring? like fresh fruits and vegetables, things that are light. something that marlin or bonnie requested?
Is it cold enough still for your frozen food to be ok until you get it home? I’d love to know how you keep all the fresh produce fresh until you use it. Do you just binge on fresh fruits and veggies until they’re gone? Would love to see how you cook all these things, I’ll have to look closer at your other videos. 🙂
Hi. Joe actually flew home with the frozen food. We took everything else on the ferry. We definitely binge our fruit and veggie’s until they are gone. We have some videos of cooking under the playlists :).
How do u transport the frozen items back and prevent them from melting? And what do u do with all the fresh fruits and veggies once u get them home? Freeze them?
We sent the frozen food back to kake on a plane. Its out for about 2 hrs total, but nothing really thawed. We just eat all the veggies. If something looks like it might go bad before we can eat it. We freeze it.
Discounting the freezers is this an average grocery run? Approximately how long will this all last? Cool video! My wife and I might be moving there soon and I'm trying to gather as mich info as possible.
Joe is a high school teacher and I am a stay at home mom. We just live below our means and spend very little outside of food. Little bit of college loans for Joe and thats the only debt we have. I enjoy thrifting and buying used. That helps a lot especially with kids.
I don't know how this is possible. We moved from Juneau in Jan 22. I am familiar with normal Costco prices there. Our costco is now in Coralville, Iowa. Comparing prices.... everything was very significantly CHEAPER IN JUNEAU. Often by half price. I am at a complete loss to explain this.
How long do the groceries last your family? Years ago when all our 9 kids lived at home I use to shop at Sams Club. I would compare prices with Walmart (price, size, portions) and found that buying my groceries at Walmart was actually cheaper (most of the time). Doesn’t your produce go bad before you use it all?
This haul will last between 6 months to a year. Some things we will have to get more of and others will last more then a year. We rarely let produce go bad. Sometimes if it seems like its getting close and we can not get to it we will freeze it for soup. Sometimes we will also share with friends. We used to have a Walmart in Juneau, but it closed around 7 years ago.
We do not spend a lot of money on extras. There is no eating out, movies, bowling, ect. So we save as much as we can, that way we do not have to worry when we travel and spend a lot in a small amount of time.
Hi do you mind telling me if you have a hot food area and do they still do chicken bakes? I live in Australia and our stupid lot have taken them off the menu.
This will last 6 months-year. We hunt for our red meat on the island and we do a lot of fishing. So we usually only eat the meat we got from Costco as fun special meals :).

@@LewisFamilyVlogAlaska Thanks I was just wondering since I didn’t see you guys get pork chops, hamburger meat, beef, or chicken. Thank goodness that y’all can make it last for 6 months. I really love your vlogs especially watching the kids growing up. I appreciate you sharing and taking the time to respond to me. Love 💕 y’all! Your a wonderful family so down to earth.
As we run out of things or get low at home I do write it in my notes on my phone. I also just try to think about what we have. Sometimes we end up missing a few things or over buying. It usually works out pretty well though.
@@LewisFamilyVlogAlaska I ask because I just spent WAAAAY too much at Sam's and when I got home, I already had a good stock of the things I bought. I really need to set up an inventory or something...

I understand .
I would do the same thing.its a pain having to go to the store every week.
Wired thing...😅I don't eat pickles BUT I love all the pickle jars.
Lot of well needed stuff. Lots to put away.

I was wondering the same thing.
@@Suzy63 Yeah me too! I'd take a guess two months!

Welcome to our UA-cam Family. Thank you :)
Those prices are actually pretty good, im in a very rural area and our prices are outrageous
I am sorry. Your prices and probably what its like to shop in Kake.
This must be "wonderland" for you! But necessary for the next months.......
It is always fun (as long as I do not dwell to long on the price tag.)
I thought the prices would be far more than where I live, Odessa, TX.
Oh My Gosh, sticker shock for sure.
You guys are awesome, has it been a year already since the last haul? Before baby boy was born? BTW the kids are adorable, you're doing a great job.
Thank you! It had not quite been a year yet, but we where traveling, so we figured we better stock up.

Thats awesome!
That seems like the largest haul yet!
Did you guys move or did they build a Costco closer I remember you having to take a plane or ferry to get to one!?
We did not move. We took a ferry to Juneau. You can see that part of our trip in this vlog if you would like. ua-cam.com/video/zlccRbC9JOQ/v-deo.html

The shelf stable stuff will last 6 months to a year.

Yes. If they have time to make it to a store before coming to Kake. We usually ask for them to pick up some fresh produce.
I would go absolutely nuts, what to do with all that stuff. The prices are off the wall! That would be the end of me. You both seem used to it!😊
We are pretty used to it by now. We have a lot of storage. This vlog has a tour of where we keep most things. ua-cam.com/video/zlccRbC9JOQ/v-deo.html

We did not. We have two very old chest freezers that we are replacing to hopefully help lower our electricity bill.

It really depends on when we travel and if we can take the ferry. Usually once or twice a year we can get a lot of stuff.
