February 28, 2024 I'm driving in my car with my 19 year old son in the passenger seat. This song comes up on the radio and he sings along and knows all the words to the song. I looked at him and say "How come you know the words to this song, this is from my youth". He looks at me and says dad I know a lot more than you know. As I continue driving, I can't help but feel a mix of surprise and amusement at my son's response. It's a moment that highlights the generation gap in a lighthearted way, showcasing how cultural influences transcend time. I might respond with a chuckle or a playful comment, acknowledging his point while also perhaps feeling a touch of pride in his knowledge and curiosity about music from different eras. It's moments like these that strengthen the bond between parents and their children, bridging the gap between generations through shared experiences and a mutual appreciation for music and culture. Songs like stride stand the test of time and will be here for many future generations to enjoy. Thank you Matthew Wilder.
I was 12 in 1986 and had a very traumatic move to a different state. This is one of the strongest songs that always brings my heart to my happy place as a child in my hometown. Nostalgia!!!! Matthew, thank you for this song!!!!
Matthew, you're appreciated and loved by people the world over, people that you'll never meet or know, but just know how much your music means to millions. Thanks, brother.
Tenia 13 años y sonaba está linda música,me encantó desde que la escuché,la baile mucho también lo disfrute, soy ochentera ,la mejor época del mundo mundial 😊
Nice! ❤ This was my favorite song when I was a kid. I couldn’t wait til it came on the radio. 1983 I was 6 or 7. This song brings me such good memories.
Seriously beautiful, while the 80’s original is an upbeat pop song, this newest rendition is a slower calmer, almost jazz-like version. Thank you for both amazing pieces Mathew..
always been my favorite song whenever i’m going through anything. thank you for providing your music, i study this lol because i wanna be a music star, not just one genre but many. you inspire me along with a list of people, thank you.
Still smiling after playing my 12" vinyl copy of Break my Stride this evening 😊 One of those songs you never get bored of with precious memories of that era attached ❤️ Hope you are well Matthew.
This song is still as infectious to me as it was when I first heard it back in the mid 80’s, when I was a teen. Thank you for giving us this fabulous gift Matthew.
I woke up the other day with this song for some reason in my head even though I hadn’t heard it in years and then proceeded to listen to it like 10 times straight. Good tune
Matthew estás presente en todos los playlist de la época y aún suena bien en cualquier nota, felicidades!!! Y gracias por tu música aquí en Colombia también suenas! 🇨🇴
I just learned that you are the father of Zachary Wilder, one of my favorite tenors, and also the person who wrote the music for Mulan! I’ll Make a Man Out of You is one of my most favorite Disney film songs! Thanks for that and for bringing such a talented son into the world!
Awesome take on a true classic! I always loved this song. Still have the 45, lol. I like the original beat but this reggae beat fits nicely too! Matthew you still sound Great! Thanks for the memories ❤
Your voice has stood the test of time. I love this rendition. I wish I had listened to this version during the pandemic, I would have been in better spirits if I did.
This song had brought to the highest stage of a wonderful feeling when I was in college .... the rhythm Had moved my mood up on the beat .... It was such beautiful feeling at that time .... especially when I was falling in love with a wonderful girl that on later day she became my children mother .... I might not relate song lyrics to what happened but the tune made me feel great
This song came out in my teens and I loved it then. It has played over the last several years on local radio periodically and I noticed it has always been when I was dealing with women like the one in this song even within the last several months. The song hits closer to home now. It's like the Universe is using this classic as a way of saying, "Dude! Stop wasting your energy on emotionally unavailable women!"😂 I am thankful for this great song!
Whenever this song starts playing on 😊my radio in the car I have to turn the volume way up to totally feel the mood. It always makes me smile and forget about the stresses of the day. 😊❤👍
Wow. Still on key and voice is kicking. I remember watching you when I was a kid and said, "Come on, how is that voice coming out of that guy?". He looks like a tough guy, but has a mellow voice.
Wow, just wow! It's so rare for an artist to be able to sing their song just as well as they did over 30 years ago...way to go Sir! (Love this version too!)👏 🎹
Greatly crafted tune. I remember being a kid in 1983. IMO '83 may have been one of the best years for pop music. Police - Every break you take, Michael Jackson Thriller, Prince - 1999, Men at Work, Spandau Ballet, Total Eclipse of the Heart, Culture Club, and the hits just kept coming.
Man, I'm heading to cuba in the end of March, I instantly pictured laying on the beach, with the version played next to me, with cold drink, sun in my face. Such a great tune
Wow! What a talent, more than just a vocalist. This performance has a different emotional pull than the record, which shows a versatile artist. The original track is everywhere here in the UK, with TV commercials especially.
Hi Matt! I have no idea how I’ve just discovered your amazing song, but my lord, this live version is great after so many years! but I’m telling you, you recorded some timeless joy in the original recording! I’d really like to know what was going through your mind when you were hitting the charts and making the rounds on TV to perform it live. It must have been euphoric. The world must have felt so different back then. You should talk about it and post it on your channel. This song will be a forever blissful moment for me, especially dancing with my kids❤😊
Ain't nothing gonna break my stride!

Thank you Matthew Wilder.
The song got popular with the kids on the net during covid
This often happens between my 15 year old son and I! We’ve managed to connect over these little things!❤️
Dude still has a good voice
Love it!!! You go!! Here in 2024. Has done wonders for my depression!! Thank you!!
I’m now in my 50s and this song will always be part of my happy teenage life. Thank you Mr. Wilder. Cheers! 🥂
His voice hasn’t changed at all. Still loving this song like I did back in the 80s.
He's using auto-tune. There is a distinct difference.
@@darklordojeda he's using reverb and delay but idk about auto tune...
It has changed. But that is only natural. It is still good quality skill.
This has been my favorite song since it came out in 1983.
You can tell, Matthew is not only an exceptional vocalist, but also a production/arrangement master! Tons of talent here!
Except it's auto tune. He probably just can't hit those highs anymore. I like this arrangement. Nice and slow.
Nothing ever broke his stride even after 40+ years! This is a great version.🤘
I was 12 in 1986 and had a very traumatic move to a different state. This is one of the strongest songs that always brings my heart to my happy place as a child in my hometown. Nostalgia!!!! Matthew, thank you for this song!!!!
Eu tinha 8 anos 😊
He still sounds great.
Matthew, you're appreciated and loved by people the world over, people that you'll never meet or know, but just know how much your music means to millions. Thanks, brother.
My 14 year old daughter loves this song! It's so nice to see our songs enjoyed by the young generation!
My 15 year old boy loves it too but he was into some shit cover so had to educate him lol!
Samee I'm 14 too and I'm literally addicted to this and English isn't even my first language but I just love it 😭❤️
@@garizzmaa I was maybe 10 when this tune came out-what a great tune, today. You are all so cultured :)
Im 15 and I really like it
Espectacular ❤
This slower version punch a lot of emotions with it. It really matured like fine wine.
Tenia 13 años y sonaba está linda música,me encantó desde que la escuché,la baile mucho también lo disfrute, soy ochentera ,la mejor época del mundo mundial 😊
Still got it! Wow man, what voice! This song has always delivered pure joy. Thank you.
Still better than 95% of today's "music"
No autotune for him...True talent
Really, pure talent
Pretty sure there was some tune correction but its still great
Thats cause in the 80s they chose people with good voices
Auto tune does not necessarily mean someone lacks talent
How do you know there wasn’t ‘autotune’?
God put this song in your life to make everyone happy .... Thanks a lot ....
Nice! ❤ This was my favorite song when I was a kid. I couldn’t wait til it came on the radio. 1983 I was 6 or 7. This song brings me such good memories.

That is the magic music and its power. I was singing the same song when I was 8.
I was born in the 2000s but I love the 80s so much. I want the 80s to make a comeback and pass it to the younger generation.
Still smiling after playing my 12" vinyl copy of Break my Stride this evening 😊 One of those songs you never get bored of with precious memories of that era attached ❤️

Love this jazzed up, laid back version. It was an awesome song when it first came out, and now you’ve taken up a notch…WELL DONE!!
"Nobody gonna slow me down." My man, the BPM says otherwise. In all seriousness, I love this mellow version; thanks!
Incredible voice. I could listen to this over and over.
the only thing that does not age is the voice greetings from Colombia!!
Still got it!

Geez Matthew, only YOU could have turned a pop classic into a contemporary smooth Jazz masterpiece.
F** amazing! I'll never get tired of this song!
Brilliant! I remember Matthew performing this on Top of The Pops in Great Britain back in the 1980s. He’s still got it!!!
