    Well done both, sensitively covered. Feels odd to go through a story I lived through at the time. Lindsay was younger than me but at my high school, her brother was in my year. It created such an air of paranoia in Hebden for years, and I truly hope the killer is found one day for the family's sake.

      We had heard about this when news broke. As for covering the story, we kind of tiptoed around it as we were not sure if speaking about it would bring back bad memories for all those related to Lindsay. But, after reading about it more and watching many crime documentaries, Geraldine wont rest until her daughters killer(s) are brought to justice, so we thought it may help a little by keeping her memory alive and although its a tragic ending, keeping her name out in the public domain can only be a good thing in our opinion.

      Thanks mate. I think it was one of the harder videos to do as not only is it a delicate subject but it was quite busy as times along the canal path, we had to stop filming many many times. And when people were passing, it kind of knocks you off balance in trying to find the right words to say. But I hope the family get closure as 28 years of not knowing must be a daily nightmare.

    It's thirty years this November (2024), 30 years of pain and sadness for all of her family. They try really hard to keep Lindsay's murder in people's minds in the hope that her killer may be caught, often to the detriment of their own mental health. Some of the comments on here make me so angry.... there was plenty of food in the house it was just that no one told either mum or dad that the cornflakes had run out , they lived in a house, mum went out for a drink leaving dad at home with the kids and the biggest anger is reserved for the person condemning Gordon- you know nothing matey ! I don’t even remember this case despite it being relatively local. Also I worked with a couple of people from Heiden Bridge at the time. The date she went missing is significant to me as it is my son’s birthday and the date she was found I was on honeymoon having married the Saturday before. I think you are more like to remember things when they are local or have significant dates. That tells me that there wasn’t a lot of publicity regarding the case. I wonder if that was the so or maybe I was too caught up in wedding plans for it to have stuck in my memory. I do hope that one day justice can be served.
    Another case that I feel was never solved was Alan Livesey from Bamber Bridge, there was a rough justice programme about the murder. I’m sure someone in that community knows something.

    I am left wondering whether Lyndsey was being abused by a neighbour or friend of the family prior to this incident. Fearing that she might tell someone about what had gone on previously could well be a motive. Obviously this is just off the top of my head but it might explain the lack of sexual assault as well as why she might have accepted a lift from the killer.

      Hi Josie, there have been many many theories and the police listed loads of them in the months after Lindsay was found. 28 years, nearly 29, and we are no closer to finding out who did it or why. The police said at the time, the person who had killed Lindsay may not have planned to kill her. They may have had ill judged intentions by driving her somewhere, got rebuked by Lindsay and things then escalated to the point they did. Either way, its still a tragic story that needs closure.

    At that age, she should not have been out on the street at that time of the night. My mom and dad would never have allowed that when I was 13. The kid was roaming the streets and then, not one of the parents even checked that the kid was home safe in bed. Fact is, it was very very poor parenting from both of them. As for Gordon Rimer.... Sat there, clapping and rubbing his hands, smiling....just remember that lots of parents have murdered or killed their children and really never gave a hoot or even took pleasure in it. Also, if local suspected him, there would be a good reason beyond how he looked. People can often sniff out a wrong 'un

    • @DaysofHorror
      @DaysofHorror  Рік тому +3

      Hi Tom. Lindsay had two sisters and one brother from what I believe. As for sharing a room with any of them, thats a very good question and something we never thought of at the time. The mill was a fully working mill back then from all accounts and the police did say that they thought whoever had taken and killed Lindsay knew the area very well and was at ease in taking her to that location, which still seems a very risky thing to have done. I actually thought perhaps it may have been a worker on a late shift who may have gone into town whilst on a break, and seen Lindsay on his way back to work. Just a theory I had.
      As for the documentary, I couldnt get my head around that either. I mean, the local TV crew following the story so closely whilst it was an ongoing investigation but seemingly prying on the family and camping outside their front door all for an exclusive!

For that reason there was very little passing traffic or people living on the canal.
