Hello! This video was great, thank you! One question, at 3:00 you show the back of the unit. what is the smaller input between the two larger harness inputs for? My jeep has that and all the aftermarket harnesses for new radios do not have a connector for it. Any advice?
The lights are fading on my radio display - clock, station, volume, etc...just along the sides of the display, not the entire thing. I have the brightness turned up all the way (on the headlights/blinker switch), so it's not that. Is there a way to change light bulbs inside the radio faceplate?
Clay - wife has 2009 Jeep Liberty and I cannot get heat. Here's what I know: Heater Core is fine (both hoses are equal temp after running), thermostat is fine - temp gauge reaches 210 on dash. Antifreeze is good in radiator and reservoir. I recently replace the blend door actuator (about 6 moths ago). I pull off center console and my air control switches "look" fine - they are all plugged in. When placed all the way on hot - barely getting warm air out. I am out of ideas here. Any chance of you one?
Well it sounds like you know your way around the vehicle well enough that this probably won’t make any sense but it is possibly the problem. First let’s make sure that the cabin air filter is not bad so check that then. What I’ve noticed over the years with these jeep liberty‘s and including the Chrysler Pacifica etc. etc. They somehow get air in the cooling system. So you want to make sure that the coolant has all of the air burped out look underneath my jeep playlist and I have a great video on how to burp the air out of your Jeep liberty I believe it’s called possible reasons your jeep liberty will not get warm I can’t remember exactly but there’s only 20 or 30 videos in that playlist so it should be easy to find hopefully that’s helpful for you if it’s not the problem I’ll keep thinking about it so in a couple days when you ask about it again I may have another suggestion that I’m not thinking of right off the top of my head right now
There is a coolant bleed plug on the top radiator hose, driver side. It is a hex bolt. This is there to bleed air bubbles which cause an air lock. So, you can have full coolant level, but no flow to the heater core. With the car off, remove the plug. Start the car and add water or coolant until it will not allow any more in. Re-install the plug. Let run for a few minutes, then loosen the plug until water and/or air come out. Once you see it is only water, retighten the plug. This purging is the same principal as when you bleed brake lines. This may very well save you money in thermostats, water pumps, and heater cores; not to mention the labor cost. Give this a try. Alec
idk if this will help at all but I had kinda the same issue with my 2012 Liberty. Was getting heat in the face vents but not the floor vents. I thought heater core but it was checked and given a clean bill of health. Fast forward a couple of months and water pump exploded in my driveway. Had it towed to a mechanic and wouldn’t ya know…..after it was fixed I started the car up and instant hot heat coming out of all vents. So I say check the water pump. 😂
So mine cuts in and out sometimes it’ll play music but when it does there’s static 90% of the time sometimes worse than other times and then it’ll just cut off all sound completely and turn on later randomly by itself is this a problem with the wiring?
No I’ve seen that problem before that is the radio unit itself you need to replace it you can get a replacement at a junkyard there are usually $50-$75 and you just remove it and install it and it will be just fine
Are the antenna connectors for siriusxm? im looking to replace my receiver with a pioneer. will i still need to buy the sirius adapter/w antenna and run the antenna to the outside rear of my jeep?
@@Turk_2023 I did have to buy the adapter. There was a random wire back there that I believe was for gps and I didn't hook it up, but I wish I did, because every boot up it would say no gps antenna

Hi Clay Way, I appreciate the informational video. I have a 2008 Jeep Liberty with the same radio, do you know what causes the following issue. I make a phone call using uconnect after the person pickups I sound like a fuzzy robotic voice on the receivers end they cant understand a word? I already replaced the mirror with the built in microphone.
Well thank you very very much for the kind words and welcome to the channel. Regretfully all I can give you is a fairly educated guess that I’m about 90% sure that I’m right about. The input that sends the signal into the radio and converts it to the speakers is defective basically meaning if it’s not hardwired into the radio the radio is defective. If it is hardwired like through an auxiliary cord I would first try to replace my auxiliary cord then , if that does not solve the problem it’s either with the phone or the Jack on the radio. Could potentially be required but more than likely just better to be replaced the jack is going to wear out over years of use and they probably only have about a 5 to 7 year lifespan to begin with of continuous use I hope that answer makes sense to you and I appreciate the great idea for a video. Even though the video would pretty much only be me describing what you’re talking about and how I described it back to you I don’t know how I could visually make that simpler rather than pointing my finger to things. Welcome to the Channell we’re happy to have you
Excuse me, my English is a bad thing, I have a question. is it true that if I change the player to another boss brand, the jeep liberty truck supposedly goes crazy?
Well since the radio doesn’t have anything to do with the actual functioning of the vehicle I would assume in the other situation that something was hooked up incorrectly. So my answer to that question is NO it should not make it go crazy
Marcos Aguilar You should always buy the appropriate wiring harness and if it has steering wheel controls you will want the add-on for that as well so it functions properly
So at 1:08 you just pop the radio cover off. No bolts or anything?
