Cool decklist and I was so rooting for your deck to win! ;-) Why wasn't the infernal grasp in the maindeck though, since you were allowed to bring a decklist speciffically build against Murktide!?
I believe in Game 3 in response to the bounce side of brazen borrow you are supposed to also sacrifice the undead augur. You'll be at the same total cards in hand, but you will effectively remove brazen borrower from andrea. The carrion would also then be out of bolt range thus requiring an unholy heat or EE. Your next couple turns would've looked similar in play even if andrea had the heat for carrion, EXCEPT andrea wouldn't have the borrower in play to threaten life total or eventually crew the hearse.
He made like 30 mistakes between the games. From rushing out crawlers and therfore losing them. Not starting with grasps in main deck(a choice I assume) rushing 2 augurs. Not sac looping early. And overall trying to win wide instead of tall vs a bolt deck.
Also got very confused how Andrea thought he could tap Unlicenced hearse as he used it as a attack to give more counters. Gotta watch them peeps even if they pros.
@@eon2330i don't think it was a choice not to start with grasps in the main deck, they always just play with exactly the decklist that was sent in, so if the decklist has grasps in the side board the they are in the side board

Not sacrificing the Undead Augur in response to the Brazen Borrower in game 3 seems like a huge mistake. Sacrificing the Gravecrawlers and then the Augur fizzles Borrower, denying Mengu the ability to turn the corner and get aggressive, draws an additional card, and gets the Carrion Feeder out of Bolt range (forcing either a 2-for-1 or low impact EE crack). With two Augurs in hand, there's no real reason to hang onto a third one. Maybe wouldn't change the outcome, but it seems like a missed opportunity. Edit: Absolutely turns that game from a loss to a win, that Borrower went coast-to-coast. Fizzle Adventures whenever you can, it's an often overlooked part of their design - the creature only goes on the adventure if the spell resolves.

@@CardmarketMagic Nice! I know that the novelty of some of the unique challenges is fun, but as somebody who finds MTGO vids pretty tedious to watch, it's also nice just watching good players jam meta decks in paper. Looking forward to that video either way
This is by far the best Magic channel. Amazing production quality and friendly gamers. Just really positive games where it seems like everyone is having fun.
One of the things that I love about Magic is that a budget deck -- $100, $50, heck even $25 (though that takes more luck) -- can legitimately threaten a win against a much more expensive and meta deck. Sure, sure, more expensive decks usually have better consistency, more margin for error, and can deal with more matchups. They definitely have the advantage! But with a misstep or a bad draw in the right circumstances and, all of a sudden, your deck that you had to take a mortgage out for is dying to 15¢ draft chaff.
This is specifically why we love making this kind of video! And the zombie deck was facing one of the best murktide players in the world! It could have possibly won against an average player playing the same deck
That really was great content! Gives all the creative minds a reason to brew some really cool budget decks. (I'd like to count myself to these brewers but somehow I doubt that). Sure, it can't hit artifact creatures and that might be a problem in other matchups, but Mengu's deck doesn't run any
im no pro player so idk if it wouldve been a good move, but at 29:28 i wouldve sacced the augur in response to the bounce. especially seeing 2 more in hand after the first draw it feels better imo to get the feeder outta bolt range and have a threat that asks to go 1 for 1 with explosives. plus, its the same number of cards in hand whether its sacced or bounced so its not like youre down a card that way
That would have also fizzled the Brazen Borrower so Andrea couldn't cast it later. The borrower ended up being huge for him winning the game. In retrospect I agree saccing there is definitely the right move, but of course not obvious in the moment
Game 3 I believe zombies should’ve had it at 37:02 because you have 7 mana, thran vigil, carrion feeder, then gravecrawler. Sac grave crawler and play it from your graveyard 3 times and put 3 counters and the putrid goblin and attack for exactly 5!

Zombies missed lethal the last game, play thran vigil into carrion feeder into a grave crawler, then use last three mana to sacrifice and bring back gravecrawler three times putting three counters on the putrid goblin and swing for 5
If Jamin played the following sequence on the last turn, Andrea would go to 2 Play Thran Play Gravecrawler Play Carrion feeder Sac Crawler to feeder Andrea can respond to the Feeder's trigger to exile Crawler and Grasp, which triggers Sigil and put 1 +1/+1 on Putrid Goblin. However if Andrea misses the opportunity to respond, you chain the Crawler loop until Putrid gets to be a 5/5 and kills on the spot.

@@CardmarketMagic The reason I enjoy this channel so much, is the range of content. Your card reviews, game showmatches, how can you win this turn, judge's tower. New vidoes are refreshing
@@CardmarketMagic Yeah, the 100€ challenge is very nice. I'm fairly new to YGO so I'm not sure if it translates well to that game, but if it does it is a very cool concept for videos.
First game, if Jamin had sacrificed the gravecrawler at 15:43 before the headless rider died, I think he would have survived Andrea's next turn. Oh wait, forgot they all had flying. Last game if that Duress or Infernal Grasp had been a Diabolic Intent to search for a Fatal Push he'd have won.
Oh god. Have been playing no ban historic on Arena the last few days, and Andrea's deck is definetly one of the meta ones in that event. And like the other meta ones, it's also very annoying to play against for an aggro/beatdown player like me 😅
If only we could come back in time to this game and swap Infernal Grasp into the LCI black removal that allows discarding a card instead of losing life!
Combo Zombies could have won on the last turn of game 3. 2/2 without summoning sickness and 7 mana Play Thran Vigil - down to 5 mana, 1 life Play Carrion Feeder - 4 mana play GraveCrawler - 3 mana sacrifice and replay grave crawler - 2 mana, 2/2 is a 3/3 repeat - 1 mana, 2/2 is a 4/4 repeat - 0 mana, 2/2 is a 5/5 swing into the red as he's tapped out.
not sure if this would of made a difference but I think Jamin could have won the third game . on the turn where brazen was cast to bounce he could have sack the undead augur to fizzle could have really changed the outcome. either way great video love you guys l.
20:57 Maybe I’m not seeing the effects right, but if Jamin sacrificed the carrion crawler first and brought it back, he would have done additional damage? -2 for no crawler, but +2 for the sac ability +1 for Champion’s ability?
That's true if I immediately sacrificed it, however I didn't want to overcommit onto the Feeder as long as it still was in Lightning Bolt range, so I wanted to keep it on the board as a seperate attacker -Jamin

@@CardmarketMagic The reason I enjoy this channel so much, is the range of content. Your card reviews, game showmatches, how can you win this turn, judge's tower. New vidoes are refreshing
Even though I don't play modern, this was still super fun to watch
Great idea to compete viewer decks against Mengu
Btw, as someone who watches both the magic and YGO channels, I would love to see content like this on the YGO channel someday as well!
You mean the 100€ deck challenge? I'll let the Yugipeople know :)
@@CardmarketMagic Yeah, the 100€ challenge is very nice. I'm fairly new to YGO so I'm not sure if it translates well to that game, but if it does it is a very cool concept for videos.
37:35 i'm not sure, can't fury crew the hearse before it gets sac'ed? it would clear the board and hearse with brazen borrower were lethal.
26:20 zombies actually WON!
GG! ZOMBIES FTW.
even if its a cheap deck compared to the other one
amazing
Hey, great video! Is this a deck that I could consider as a first deck? Something I can walk into a local game with? Thanks!
Great video, always good to see mengu playing tabletop mtg
I'm sad it wasn't my deck but it was very fun. Good games!
Infernal grasp should have been doom blade or go for the throat. That was some close games tho
Super entertaining to watch, good job both 🎉
In the first game without that counterspell Jamin would have won with exact lethal. That was extremely close 😬.
Awesome content as usual guys! Great distraction from work today
Great video!
Really enjoy the content, I do love a feature match.
Awesome stuff!! Have a great rest of you day!
You as well! :)
Lost to running infernal grasp over go for the throat. What a shame. Was really rooting for the zombie brew.
Oh god. Have been playing no ban historic on Arena the last few days, and Andrea's deck is definetly one of the meta ones in that event. And like the other meta ones, it's also very annoying to play against for an aggro/beatdown player like me 😅
Music choice at 7:35 went so hard
Watching this i miss my old mono black aggro deck
I love this pls make more sub 100 euros deck videos
If only we could come back in time to this game and swap Infernal Grasp into the LCI black removal that allows discarding a card instead of losing life!
Combo Zombies could have won on the last turn of game 3.
2/2 without summoning sickness and 7 mana
Play Thran Vigil - down to 5 mana, 1 life
Play Carrion Feeder - 4 mana
play GraveCrawler - 3 mana
sacrifice and replay grave crawler - 2 mana, 2/2 is a 3/3
repeat - 1 mana, 2/2 is a 4/4
repeat - 0 mana, 2/2 is a 5/5
swing into the red as he's tapped out.
Duel commander would be really cool to see
I'd like to see Andea play the budget deck against a winning deck next time
More Mengu please. Some pioneer and pauper with Mengucci.
Awwww soooo close. Had it and everything.
not sure if this would of made a difference but I think Jamin could have won the third game . on the turn where brazen was cast to bounce he could have sack the undead augur to fizzle could have really changed the outcome. either way great video love you guys l.

Maybe I’m not seeing the effects right, but if Jamin sacrificed the carrion crawler first and brought it back, he would have done additional damage?
-2 for no crawler, but +2 for the sac ability
+1 for Champion’s ability?
That's true if I immediately sacrificed it, however I didn't want to overcommit onto the Feeder as long as it still was in Lightning Bolt range, so I wanted to keep it on the board as a seperate attacker
-Jamin
No temptation to sack the augur to the feeder so that the brazen borrower fizzles?
