Hey, that Pariah card is pretty good. It pitches to Solitude
I feel like people tend to forget that Pariah can target opponent's creature and acts as a removal spell and fog effect. It's not that bad on Regent for exemple.
If playing against a deck that only has burn spells for removal the pariah cast onto your vindicator just wins the game because you can no longer take any damage ever and it all goes to your opponents face
@@thehatebringer8005until they bring in bounce/dress down/ counter it to begin with
@@henryackerson7138 cool story didnt ask
@@henryackerson7138 "if playing against a deck that has only burn spells for removal..." Didnt know that dress down does burn damage?
That Dress Down was absolutely brutal, great content team
Absolutely crushing
Those are format quitting moments right there.
I love how Jamin was going to walk Crim through the hypothetical ideal line, but ended up just getting to show him instead of tell him.
Real heart of the cards moment
instant thumbs up for the shot of Crim being shoved toward a Jamin wearing a crown
That Thalia was almost as brutal as the old 'chalice on 1' that got Harry
Pretty sure it's spellt Hairy but yes.
Crimm played that Game 2 aiming for content, and content was what we got
Having Crim pilot Seth's against the odds decks is pure genius. We're so used to Seth being super positive when things work out, but I love seeing Crim's reactions to just drawing some of the cards. He's so flabbergasted
Fun fact, on that second to last turn, Crim could have cast Thalia and still B.A. That way Jamin couldn't have countered or dressed down in response.
Yup, that was the line!
he could have had unholy heat or bolt though, I saw the same line, but it might have been to risky.
@@ferificatienodig1025unholy heat would not have helped since delirium was not active, bolt was the only realistic out to that line.
@@poiri oh wait, you're right, then it prolly was the better line since if he had the bolt Jamin would've won the next turn anyways.
he could respond to thalia with dress down, if he had it.
Crim just proved an important rule in Magic: make them have it. Yes, you should be smart, but if your choice is risk playing into what might be a counter or lose, always go for it.
If you play ten threats and they have nine answers you just landed a threat. that's all you need sometimes.
21:50 Crim "please don't have a counterspell" was so hilarious.
He was sweating a lot
Really XD
Cardmarket's uploads are ON FIRE, not just some that occasionally stick out. Every single one.
I love these jokers. They're funny and make great content, and play a great game of magic to boot.
@@BusinessSkrub and they're playing PAPER MAGIC, something we don't see that often anymore
All of you are so kind :D thank you
@@patritchie1317 i mean, I would expect a card trading comapny to have some cardboard around
@xolotltolox7626 we don't have any cardboard around 😅 we are a website that enables card trading, we have to rent all the cards for the videos
the two best magic websites working together. epic
Can we talk about in game three when Jamin only has 2 open mana, crim draws the 5th land, and could drop the Thalia to deny the counter spell and then play the Blastphamous act?
Yep, came here for this too, but at least we got there in the end.
I mean a spell pierce would have still worked, but yeah, the line was there
Spell pierce would have worked, but Crim hadn't seen one, and kept saying "you don't have spell pierce, you wouldn't have kept that in"
I mean Jamin could have also bolted the reckoner in response to a blasphemous act and then the game would probably be lost for Crim.
I'm talking about 35:12 when Jamin bluffs the counter spell
The editing, little side commentary on these videos is out of this world good! Really sets it apart from other magic content channels. Also, of course love mtggoldfish and seth and crim, loving the collab.
Thank you! It's worth all the hard work when hearing stuff like this :D
@@CardmarketMagic yes whoever makes the little side bars with the information is a good example of german efficiency
Seeing the Against the Odds live against an opponent with reactions does add an extra dimension to it.
This was a great video! Love the Cardmarket x Goldfish crossover!
There is more of this crossover to come :)
Sweet decklist from Seth. Wacky as all hell but effective
36:25 best line from Crim here was probably playing Thalia so that Jamin was locked out of counterspell and only had spellpierce as a possible counterspell then playing the Blasphemous Act with the remaining 3 mana. The line is weak to Lightning bolt, but then again so is waiting.
i will never be a control player... everything in me wanted crim to go for it. there are already 2 counterspells in the yard only 2 mana open.. just tax and JAM thats what i would have done but then again maybe i am not a good player xD
I think, it wouldnt have make him weak to Lightning Bolt. Because even if Jamin Bolts something, Crim can cast Thalia.
Also: Between Thalia entering the Battlefield and casting Act, Jamin wouldnt have get priority again. So he could have only Bolt something before Thalia enters. :)
@@andyony2he had two mana up to bluff counterspell. He could have
@@andyony2 if jamin had a bolt crimm would have been dead the next turn anyways
Two of the best MTG outfits out there! Hope to see more collabs
There will indeed be more :)
You’ve gotta love Crim’s commitment to the content!
This was great - wouldve loved to see another short call with Seth after the games.
Please force Crim to play more Against The Odds decks. I enjoy his suffering. ;)
Stuffy Doll is good. Could play Brash Taunter instead if you want to just fight every big thing and laugh at your opponent but overall, great showing.
I feel like the editing on this channel manages to get a perfect balance that other channels miss. Like, The Command Zone also does special effects and cutaways where players talk about the game but they go over the top and do it too frequently and it makes me dislike their videos. This channel uses it just the right amount, it really adds to the video without distracting from the video. Same with card descriptions, you have a good sense of which cards need describing and which ones are common enough that people know them. Admittedly I did have to pause to read Mishra's Bauble but that's probably because my experience is with commander and I've never seen it played there. Also I love how you show the triggers on the stack and have the little reminders about delirium and other important things to track, it's another thing that would be very easy to overdo but you do it just enough that it adds to the experience without distracting from it. My only complaint is that I hate the sound of cards being flicked and I've had to stop some videos because of it.
Only THREE things are certain in life: DEATH, TAXES and THALIA, GUARDIAN OF THRABEN.
That was a great video. I was thoroughly entertained.
the white weenie to white all weenies
What about Chain Reaction in the side as well as additional Blasphemous Acts? Cast it sooner, might deal less damage but sometimes you just need to get Regent off the board :)
The thumbnail was amazing and this was a great way to have Seth be there and force Crim to play against the odds. Lol
Thank you! I'm thrilled you enjoyed both it :D (and the thumbnail)
at 36:22 couldn't he thalia into blasphemous act to stop counterspells? am i missing something?
I've built a version of this deck before. Another tech is Guilty Conscience, which goes infinite with either Stuffy or Vindicator. Toss in a couple boros charms and it can go infinite with Reckoner or Mogg Maniac as well.
As a stuffy doll player, I've found via fnm at my lgs, that Spiteful Sliver is better than Boros Reckoner, and I am now shaved to not even running Stuffy Doll in the mainboard. Phyrexian Vindicator has proven incredible. I strongly suggest adding 4 of both Deafening Clarion and Burn Down the House. I have never run Thalia or stepmom, I initially decided to build the deck with more mass damage instead. I strongly suggest running Cleansing Wildfire, I even run a playset in my mainboard, I notably replaced 4 plains with 4 Flagstones of Trokair, I also run the Boros indestructible lands, making Cleansing Wildfire a reliable RAMP piece that I can also use as a land hate piece if necessary.
Jank Deck Face Off with Brewer's Kitchen!!
Jank could be new series. Mono black magic should be next. Fly him out of Japan!
Really enjoying the crossover episodes. Always enjoy both cardmarket and MTGgoldfish content!
Normally I root for the underdog, but its gotten to the point where I want to see Ragavan keep the winstreak going
A new video concept: Pit 2023 Modern decks against pre Modern Horizon legacy decks.
My two favorite magic channels collaborating, couldn't be more excited!
Calling it "Step Mom" sounds super stupid every time he says it.
Pretty crazy that Expressive Iteration is banned in Legacy but still legal in Modern.
Crim is always so entertaining to watch, this was great to get in while he was in Europe!
There are really cool combo stuffy doll decks that used to be played around the time stuffy doll came out. I remember seeing some at my lgs back then. They are quite a bit different from this one though.
Game 2 was a little sloppy;
After *Dress Down* resolves, all the red cards on the Stack go to the Graveyard normally. Also, a *Ledger Shredder* trigger was missed, meaning lethal could have been a turn sooner.
Haha, yes, we missed the Dress Down vs Sanctifier interaction in light of the craziness that just went down 😅
-Jamin
26:50 they didn't do the connive trigger, Crim was dead that same turn if they've done it
Nah mad respect to Crim committing to the content play. It made for incredible content.
That was so much fun! I'm always amazed at the production quality of your videos and at the kinds of amazing guests you guys manage to get on!
We do put a lot of work in :) happy you liked it
I wouldn't say murktide is the best deck in modern that's probably creativity.
We picked murktide because it's the "Jund-iest" of the decks. It does mid-range things without making the whole video about their own turn 4 😅 like Creativity does
I don't know why I found it so funny that Crim transferred his Arena commentation to his in person playing
While having an against the odds without hearing once "Ooooooponent" feels weird, it was a wonderful vid ! Thanks both Cardmarket and MtgGoldfish teams
Oof. Was rough to see that punt at 36:26
Could have cast Thalia, upping creature count from 6 to 7. If he has the counter, he no longer has the mana to play it.
Blasphemous Act goes from 3 mana to... 3 mana. Which still allows you to go for it.
All I can think of when Stuffy Doll is brought up is my legacy otk gimmick deck. Basically it was just using all the mana ramp to cast Stuffy Doll, enchant it with Guilty Conscience, and then give Stuffy Doll haste so it can use its ability. Very much luck based and god help you if your opponent was playing any sort of counter spells or had a way to remove either combo piece. Anyway, Guilty Conscious is an old card from Scourge. A white aura that costs 1w and says "Whenever enchanted creature deals damage, Guilty Conscience deals that much damage to that creature." So when put on Stuffy Doll, it creates an infinite damage loop. Stuffy Doll deals one to itself, which causes Stuffy Doll to deal one to the opponent, which causes Guilty Conscience to deal one to Stuffy Doll, and repeat. I probably could have done something better by cheating Stuffy Doll into play instead of hard casting it, but this was when I was young and thus not exactly able to afford good cards.
so many missed/extra ledger shredder/drc triggers :(
36:30 Thalia plus blasphemous act wins right?
Jamin has the best attitude and energy. His interaction with Crim was *cheff´s kiss*
Thank you for doing this collab. I’ve been missing Thoralf and Jamin since Arena Boye ended
So funny enough this was my Return to Ravnica standard deck. Boros Reckoner + Blas Act "All American Bombs"... IM so happy to see it again
I hardly ever play modern but if I had the cards for this brew I would jam it, it looks so fun when it gets to do its thing
can you try modern izzet murktide (with ragavan and EI) against legacy izzet delver? can rag and EI help close the gap between the rest of the powerful cards?
Pretty sure the Kor of the deck is giver of runes

This was an insanely entertaining match
0:18 Spark Rupture seems REALLY weird to build around. Like, aside from WAR Huatli and Kiora, most planeswalkers don't have loyalty much higher than their CMC. And even with Hautli and Kiora, is a 3 cost vanilla 7/7 really worth going through those hoops? I think that'd be most interesting to see
bro if u play thalia you have enough mana left to cast act still and he cannot counter.... crim punting like usual (36:10)
Akshually, Jamin wouldn't go to -21 life in the last game as the first trigger from Doll or Reckoner is enough to put him at 0 or less life, making him lose as a state based action (cr 104.3b) before the second one resolves. I am aware it makes no difference but felt like commenting anyway.
35:58 What a painful decision to make. He got burned hard in the last game by firing off too early, so I can absolutely understand why he'd be hesitant to go for it this time. If I were in his shoes, I probably would have tried to bait a reaction with Thalia and follow up with Blasphemous Act, but even with Thalia on the field he could have been stopped by Spell Pierce or Lightning Bolt. It was a gamble no matter which way he played it.
I prefer Codie+Donate+Ensnaring Bridge+Cursed Totem. Then Cast 2 Archon of Valor's Reach, naming Instant and Sorcery. And you've completely locked out your opponent.
Seth hates magic tbh. He doesn’t support community and in EDH doesn’t believe in rule 0…. NEXT. I used to love goldfish… but I prefer community and making new friends more
36:25 Crim, you have Thalia in hand, your counterspell argument is irrelevant. Try to resolve Thalia, if countered 6 creatures +3 mana= blasfemous. Thalia enters? 7 creatures +3 mana = Blasfemous +1 cost from Thalia.
Wouldn't pariah on Thalia be good as you can give Thalia protection from the color that is dealing damage to it?
Loving these great videos week after week! I hope you guys have a great rest of your day :)
Thank you! :D let's both have great days
can you bring brewers kitchen? I would love too if he could also come
We'd love to :) we just need some time to come up with content plans
Crimz could have gotten Jamin in that game 2. The line would have been to pressure him with the 5 power swing, make him use his spells and get the connive. Wait for jamin to do his next turn, use the dress down and then cast blas act, hopefully with boros reckoner still on board.
Game 3 instead of playing stuffy, just play thalia into blasphemous, he only has one card and 2 mana, its a free win???
Edit: Nvm dress down would still have stopped it.
It isn't surprising. Murktide is built to take advantage of the very low cmc average of current modern decks. It relies very heavily on burn based removal in bolt and unholy heat, so cards that turn burn into value are pretty brutal, even if they are high cmc.
26:44 missed out on a Ledger Shredder trigger for potential lethal that turn :P Jamin didn't have a spell to pitch to Connive in hand, but could have ordered triggers to resolve the DRC surveil first, then keep on top anything that's not a land or mill a land for another shot at finding a nonland to loot away and grow the Shredder, for that final point of damage :) GGs!
Love this series, saw another one, hope you guys keep doing this. Magic is pretty good but a meta or format where lots of eccentric decks could be competitive would be great, I like limited a lot but I feel like constructed is so one note but your giving me hope with this.
Krosa doesnt say "land you control". Whoever is unfortunate to cast the first boardwipe is going to get sent to the shadow ream. Similar vibes to the OG spellshaper jorayel that turns all lands target player controls into 3/3s
at 36:15 Crim coulve played around counterspell by playing Thalia first. With 7 creatures Blasphemous act wouldve costed 3 even with the Thalia tax
I apologise if this is offensive in any way, but for some weird reason I can't get rid of the thought that Crim kinda looks like an Asian Macaulay Culkin..
Awesome! Apart from Jamin missing so many Bauble Triggers. But good show!
During Jamin's turn I kept saying to myself, "If he draws a land he wins. If he draws a land he wins. If he draws a land he wins." Then he draws a Plains. Then he doesn't cast his Thalia.
Aaaaaaaargh! 😭
Really kudos to Crim for being brave and playing that Blasphemous act, however incorrect it was, it was so funny! :D :D
noooo
that last match where Crim played stuffy doll he could've cast Thalia and Blasphemous act instead, ensuring his opponent wouldn't be able to counterspell
Game three when he drew rhe 5th land he should've just played thalia into blasphemous act 😭 it would have either forced the counter on thalia or blocked it by taxation when casting the act
Surely Spitemare would have been a better choice for this? Paired with Dictate of the Twin Gods it can hit for infinite if you give Spitemare indestructible.
Fun games! Now that LOTR is out, can you do something with Galadriel of Lothlorien? With all the Temple, crystal grotto, zhalfirin void, grey havens lands you might be able to just get all your lands out.
or retreat to coralhelm for either double triggers or to use fewer scry lands
It took a awhile for my brain to process Against the Odd title not paired with MTGGoldfish logo 😅
Great video and good game though!
Could win 1 round earlier with a Thalia and Blasphemous since that forces the counter/dress down you lose to anyway
but fun deck ngl sanctifier en vec is an insane carf
HEY MTGGOLDFISH, how much fun is it to steal a childs spoiler card and then gaslight them as if it is their fault?
G3 when you played stuffy doll the better play was thalia into blasphemous act. He has to CS thalia if he has it, if he doesn't you still have the mana to act and win the game as thalia makes CS 3 mana
if instead of playing stuffy doll you play thalia you would bait a counterspell or dress down if he has it, and when doesnt happen you have exactly the mana to blasphemous act
36:27 Crim had the win even with a counterspell right there. Thalia would mean Jamen can't cast counterspell or has to waste the dress down in response into blasphemous act to finish the game
That last game when he played stuffy doll he should have played The thalia so counterspell cost 3, and Then if The thalia Got countered he could still Play blaspehmous act
Its always really weird to hear saffronOlive speaking like a normal human.
At 36:30 crim could have played Thalia into blasphemous act blocking a potential counter spell or dress down, or at least forcing it out early
Jamin missed two connive triggers near the end of g2. I mean, it was not advantageous to him at all, in fact it let Crim survive longer lol, but he did miss them
Rewatching this couldn't at 36:10 crim could play the thalia and then the blasphemous act, ensuring jamin didn't have a counter.
Damn Saffron Olive is a freaking god, he creates the best decks, I wish he tried to compete at the highest level cause he would be the best..
That second game was phenomenal, very fun video!
Thank you! :)
any reason you didnt block with the stuffy doll to the dragon rage channeler, would have been game if the 1 card in hand was a bolt and he didnt have enough mana showing for the dress down
I don't care how flashy that Blasphemous Act was, I totally agree with that play all for reasons Crim gave, not to mention that it was a laugh so what the hell.
I still don't understand... why couldn't Jamin cast Unholy Heat on Crim in response to the Thalia to end the game?
36:19 Seems like a really easy Thalia to me. If he has the counterspell, he cant use it after the thalia, and he will still have enough to Act after, whether it gets countered or not.
