FYI, no fake vents on the 987. The left one is the engine intake with a baffle plate to prevent water from going in. The right one is for engine bay cooling (it has a fan too). These are for the left hand drive models but it should be the same for the RHD. The engine is not rear mounted like the 911 is, it's mid mounted.

I bought an 05 987 boxster 2.7 last year as a first car when I was 17. I still have it and I still love it to bits. It’s now become my daily as the jcw mini I had as the daily before now inevitably spends half of its time in the garage. I don’t think mines had the ims baring done but I service it every 6-7k miles and it’s currently on 70k and I’ve had no issues whatsoever. In terms of driving experience, the flat 6 is glorious in its sound and is so responsive when in the right gear at the right rpm. Furthermore, it’s cornering ability and feedback from the wheel makes it so enjoyable on any back road. Another positive is that it has been so reliable in the time that I’ve had it. The only problem is the running costs in terms of fuel consumption and road tax, but I didn’t buy it to be economical nor drive it economically. If anyone is unsure as to whether they should purchase one, you absolutely should the car has few drawbacks and is by far the best drivers car for the money.
The Boxster is absolutely up there in terms of driving enjoyment at the price point it's available at on the used market now. Phenomenal value for money and if well looked after, a relatively trouble-free ownership experience. Thank you for watching and sharing your knowledge!

Have owned one of these from new... and though I don't drive it as much as I used to since getting back into the motorbikes (omnipotent I'm not, unfortunately), it is the best car I have ever had. It's been mega-reliable throughout it's near fifteen-year lifespan too. Still love getting into it - especially on rare sunny days. Best four-wheeled fun I've ever had.

And only then they would do the belts while driving. So it’s all correct, it’s key and gearknob, seatbelt done only at the huge straight. Things were wild back then. In left hand drive cars the key it’s on the left of the wheel too.

I have learned about the air intake (behind the grille that looks suspicously like it's been blanked off!) and the other side being a duct for cooling. The floors of both compartments were very solid, but I guess we'll find out from the owner if his luggage suddenly starts disappearing!
Definitely get that AC leak looked at (don't just get it re-gassed without fixing the leak, as it will all leak out again!) The wheels on this one are gorgeous!
Good wee video,987 is a cracking car. Think the tyres fitted are wrong profile - aren't they meant to be 40 profile rather than 45? Look on the drivers door frame next to the catch to check.
I have a 981 but I just spent most of today driving a 987. Fabulous car! I think the 981 has slightly more intriguing styling (in the eye of the beholder and all that...) but I wouldn't turn down a nice 987 any day. It's got incredible handling but still rides reasonably well and the engine is a Porsche flat 6 so it's sounds glorious and pulls nicely all the way to 7 grand. LOTS of bang for the buck. In fact, in my humble opinion, the 987 might be the sweet spot in the Boxster line. More simple and "analog" than the 981 and way better looking and more reliable than the 986.
Love the 987, prefer the looks of the 981 (and I must say, having driven the Cayman of the same generation I cannot understate how good that chassis is). You absolutely get lots of bang for your buck from the 987 generation, just depends how modern you want your Porsche 😅
Whoever owns this Boxster needs to sort the elastic/fabric bands on the sides of the roof to make it tuck behind the plastic trim when it closes. It’s an easy fix, please spend a bit of time on that! 👍🏼😬
A vent that is almost entirely coveted over by a blanking plate save for a small baffle around the edge is very easy to mistake for one which is fake. If the vent was actually the size of the opening behind it, it would be a LOT smaller
You're far more likely to damage a bonnet by pushing it gently shut that letting it fall into place. For some reason Porsche don't care about this and put overly strong struts on so you have to press it closed. It's a fantastic way to get dents on you bonnet though.
Honestly give the poor guy a break! I've owned one for about 6 months now and i'm still not sure what the 'best' method is for closing. I tend to let the bonnet/frunk drop into place and then push the badge to prevent scratching or getting fingerprints on the paintwork - that may be wrong too! Really enjoyed your review - the S is a step up in power (I have a 2006 3.2) but it sounds pretty similar and is bordering on unusable power in the UK. 2nd gear will drop you into the national speed limit at the top end. I love mine, having had a Supercharged Mk2 MX-5 in the past - the Boxster does feel a much more substantial car, and much nicer on longer journeys. It's a perfect 2nd car for me.

Those who actually know anything about the fried egg cars know they now have been given classic status by Porsche; meaning parts and service costs are cheaper at Porsche dealerships, compared to what they were. This is to keep these "classics" being serviced by OPD's. The "fried egg" Porsche's are now seen as an appreciating asset. With that, more people are actually appreciating the look of the original Boxster, especially the 986.1's with the orange indicators.
Don't worry Jasper, I think you'll grow some after puberty. 😆 🤣 😂 No one ever says about these, is the top hydraulic, or cable/mechanical. The hydraulic ones on other cars, like mercedes, are prone to leaking all over you when they give out.
It's electric motors. They can have some issues but if looked after they shouldn't give you much trouble. Much less prone to problems than the SLK hydraulic system.

It's a legit vent. Fake vents are what you see on a MK5 Supra.

I got the same wheels by luck and love it! Only thing is I have an AC leak with only 45K miles... everything else has been great quality
