The 2000s styling on the 987 has aged really well. Better design and balance than the same generation 911.
You are absolutely right! They have aged really well, and to me, still look very modern.
I always tease Kenny that he "didn't buy a proper Porsche", but after driving a 997, dare I say, I think I enjoyed the 98u more! 😬

You could jump into a Boxster and drive to the South of France in comfort and style - ignore any "real porsche must be 911 comments as a real 911 is air cooled (now I have said it 😮) - remember the boxster concept was based off the 550 spyder - all boxsters even the 2.5 and 2.7 5 speeds are a joy - really enjoyed the video guys thank you.
Have the same model (2008) from the first owner with only 70.000 km and still looking new. Not a S version but the “regular” one. It’s a bliss to drive
I had one, it is a great car. More practical than u think. Such a great noise and performance with balance. Brilliant to drive. I drove mainly in French alps and germany
better than i was expecting!! id probably consider one to be next on the cards for me too after an ep3
I have a 2006 987 3.2 Boxster S and a 1998 996.1 911 3.4, the Boxster is the fun car, the 911 is much more brutal and unforgiving, I drive them both on trackdays and love them equally 👍😊
I have a 2007 3.4 987s and love it. Great to drive and a minimum of tech. I was going to get a manual but mine was so good I went for the tiptronic.
Either way you get the Boxster, mid-engine experience!

Used to have a 987 and absolutely loved it!! Amazing throttle response, steering feel, balance. Had the same issue with the floppy gearbox though. Other than that - perfect entry level sports car as far as I’m concerned.

Great video fellas. Ive got the same 987s tiptronic. For me its the best of both worlds . Absolutely love it , gonna do some upgrades next year ( if the missus lets me) enjoy.

Hey Kenny, how long before your mate trades in his Mazda? It's not a track car (though they are good fun there too) but the perfect roadster, which is, of course, what Porsche were trying to create. A pure driving experience and a car you can exploit 100%. Put a fresh set of Pilot 4's on it and go tear up some B roads!
So intreged to what you are going to do it. And I'm not a big porch person I love it.
I have the 2006 S and the previous owner put in a IPD plenum and 911 Throttle body and a fabspeed exhaust and retuned the ECU. I love it. I had a 97 base model Boxster for 11 years and put 100,000 miles on it and loved that one as well. If you want more power I would recommend those changes. Great review.

Been driving a 2006 boxster s, since 2019 and love it, looks exactly like mines except its artic silver and black interior, silver roll bars. Left side steering wheel only difference, here in Hawaii, with year round top down in paradise! Aloha from Oahu!

Pic) that I bought when I was 18 and drove to high school everyday in the UK, and yeah the amount of attention it got was crazy, some of my friends thought it was was a 40k car when in reality less than 10. Felt like driving a Ferrari in the college environment at least 😂
count me among the owners of a 987 delightful to drive, just got new michlin ps4's, love the mountain roads

I am in New Zealand watching this and I would love to know where this road is because it looks so like it could be filmed here in NZ. I know it is not but of all the similar items I have watched that are from the UK this one looks so much like the roads here where I love taking my Boxster for a run.
Looks like Wales, and the accents certainly sound like it.

Is it really necessary to get a Boxter S in a manual, the way you HAVE to get a Miata MX-5 in manual? Since the gears are so long and you'll rarely ever leave 2nd, you may as well let the car do it right?
The 987 gears are shorter than the 981, had a 987S for 16 years. Now driving a 981 Spyder. Who cares with the 3.8L🎉😂
There's a big difference in performance figures compared to the auto. We just drove the 997 auto and it depends what you want from the car. Personally its a weekend car for me so having it as a manual ads to the fun. Plus the pedals are nice and close together to help nail that heel toe.

The Boxsters 987 in a Tiptronic are perfectly fine, gives you the power you need and hassle free driving in traffic.
Tiptronic is fine. I just leave it in auto and love how it drives.
Turbo kit ?
I think the fact that everything would have to be custom made, & the car would be off the road for a while may put him off (Kenny drives this car a lot! Lol)
TPC makes a kit for the 3.4/2.7 cars, I’d contact them and see if they also offer it for the 3.2. I’ve been tempted to put that on my 3.4 cayman s for a while, but the car is so good oem plus, I haven’t felt the need to do so. Headers, exhaust, tune, ipd intake plenum, gt3 throttle body, coilovers , adjustable toe arms, and a short throw shift kit to get rid of the slop in the shifter, and I truly feel like I have almost a perfect car. In the past I’ve had, a Miata, S2000, E36 M3, E46 M3, E92 supercharged M3, V10 E63 M6, CLS55 AMG, C6 Corvette, amongst other sports cars, and the cayman s I feel is truly the best, most fun to drive car I’ve ever owned, and possibly ever driven.
@chriskilgore2521 oh wow! That's exactly how Kenny feels; he loves the power level at the moment, and feels the power level makes the overall package/handling superb!
Kenny has had a lot of the cars you've had and says the same about his 987, surprisingly good cars!

@@chriskilgore2521 i have a 2008 3.4S that ive twin turbo'd.
It has 477bhp and over 500nm of torque. Better power to weight than a GT3 RS.
I ADORE the thing.
Basically a motorcycle on 4 wheels

Most people who say you should of bought a real Porsche don't own a Porsche, and have never driven any kind of Porsche! Their comments are normally fuelled by envy / jealousy as they fiddle for the keys for their mundane car.
