  • Apparently there’s an issue with faulty white noise generators in some of the Arturia Drumbrutes, which mainly manifests itself by inaudible or quiet maracas as well as some weirdness with the tambourine sound and decay. This video shows you what that issue may sound like, and below you can find information to help speed up the repair of your unit if your Drumbrute has this issue.

    Hello.
If a device is still under warranty, and a fault confirmed. We are dedicated to replace / repair the device as swiftly as possible.
We ask proofs of defects as it very often allows to detect a non-fault & resolve the issue without involving the customer to separate from his instrument.
It also helps to understand the issue before it's sent back to us, which is very convenient to save some time in the process and adapt our solutions.
    Kind regards
    Edouard M.

Hi Edouard, thanks for getting in touch. I've removed the word widespread from that video and apologize for any confusion. All of the 3 units I've seen/heard so far has had the issue so I imagined it affected all of the initial batch, but glad to hear that's not the case. Let me know if there's any other info you'd like me to add for people that may need to return theirs.
Did you happen to watch my video on the use of Song Mode? I'm really curious to know if I'm somehow misinterpreting the manual. Several people asked me how to save songs and I never used song mode before that, but after checking out the manual I was thoroughly confused. It looks like the manual is totally incorrect but I'm really curious to know if I'm just not reading it correctly somehow.

what about if you bought one in Canada? your policy only seems to only cover products sold in the us.

It looks like real hassle from your company for being willing to fix a clear flaw in your product. I have one I bought on ebay new and hope if I have a problem Arturia does not give me the hassle they gave him.

I went through Guitar Center's Extended Warranty/Assurion and they declared it "Beyond Repair". Got my money back. The question I have is will a new one have the same problem in a year?
I contacted Arturia a day before my warranty expired, they were slow to get back and yes, a long list of "Demands". I think Arturia should fix every last one of these for life. I've laid hands on 4 Drum Brutes, all with the same problem (even the one at the local Guitar Center has it!). I wouldn't call it widespread problem, but anecdotally, it's 100% failure across the units I can lay hands on.
      Dear Arturia,
I think people should be afraid. The Drum* is not the first "widespread" failure. The USB port on the Beatstep Pro is frighteningly weak and others.
Sending your hardware designs to the lowest bidder has ruined your reputation with me.
Without lifetime assurance that I won't pay such a basic failure. I don't know if I can do another one.

Thanks for the video! I've been itching to buy one of these but now I might side with a proven manufacturer with stuff that seems to last for ever i.e. Roland. How did things work out?

This just happened with my unit a few days ago. Just contacted Arturia, but I'm not sure if they'll still fix the issue!?

I too had this problem; had to send my unit for Thomann for repairs (6 weeks!). I wonder what will defect next..maybe I'm better off selling the unit.

I just spent 270 on reverb for a used drumbrute and it arrived defective. Wat more defective than this though, mine actually doesnt work at all. It turns one and kinda makes noise and some of the buttons work. None of the knobs do anything. 270 down the drain 😭😭

Ok, I'll join the chorus of people with problems with this machine. My story...the first go around some of the volume pots started to go. I had it sent to Arturia by the store I bought it from. It was sent back "fixed" only the pots were still defective. Then I got the whole machine replaced because the store I bought it from has integrity. Well now the SECOND Drumbrute has different problems after firmware update. On at least 2 instruments (maracas and snare) triggers are skipped, like it stumbles then catches up, having missed several of the trigs. wtf? If this takes another 3 weeks to "fix" like last time I'll be going with another drum machine and avoiding the heck out of Arturia. I was so excited about this machine and have loved many aspects of it, but this is ridiculous.

Well get this...after sending back my Drumbrute to have it repaired, it did the exact same thing again. So sorry to hear about your experience. Sounds like they are having a lot of issues with Drumbrutes across the board.

Hey there, great video! quick question for everyone. Drumbrute functions fine except for the low output volume. even with everything turned up, it has a low output both via the headphones and cabled output. is this normal with the drumbrutes? I can turn it up with my interface or daw, but as for the actual physical unit, it is not loud at all. I say this because I own a micro brute and there is no problem with the levels on that synth.
    Thanks in advance!
    -Chuck

I definitely didn't notice that...maybe slightly quieter than some of my other gear but if so, it wasn't very noticeable. You may want to try recording a quick video showing how the volume compares to your microbrute and sending it to Arturia to see if there's an issue.

That's quite a bit of BS you are asked for in order for a company to make good on a clearly faulty unit. You have to give them a video?? A few years back I bought a Line 6 DL4 that didn't power on, brand new out of the box... I called the company with the serial number and described the problem, they gave me the address of the nearest repair place that they contracted with (it was only the next city over from me), I shipped it off and got it back fully functional in a couple of weeks... The only cost to me was the shipping to the repair place, but at least I didn't have to provide everything Arturia wants. :/

I hear ya. To be fair they are probably trying to prevent returns that don't need them, since that's just a lot of extra work for everyone. And they were very nice about the whole thing and quick to reply. Luckily most of us have cameras on our phones these days so it was easy just to take a very quick video.

It's hardly a lot of information to be fair - took me around 5 mins to shoot a quick 10s video and reply to them with everything that they needed.

The thing I always like to remember is....the people who own perfectly functional Drumbrutes are quite satisfied with their unit and don't generally post about it being perfectly functional on social media. It's like a fucking plane crash on the news. You only ever hear about a flight when something goes wrong.
So let's all calm down...and not jump to the ridiculous conclusions that all Drumbrutes are broken and that Arturia is a "scam company". That's an actual quote from some moron in the comments below.
