It’s been awhile since I’ve been in the comments & watching your vids. I feel like I go through phases! I still love you guys & thank you for always being so bold to try new cuisine experiences. Thank you for showing my Filipino culture. Love you guys ❤
To enjoy Filipino food is to eat with Filipinos! You are so lucky to be invited to a Filipino gathering to be immersed in our culture. Next time hopefully you can attend a Filipino Fiesta, birthdays or better a Christmas or New Year Party 🎉 food will be overwhelming. Congratulations for experience Kamayan… 👍♥️
Hi Guys, kamayan comes from the word kamay which means hands, kamayan is a meal where you eat with your hands. I love your vlogs and will be hitting some of your spots when I visit there nexts. Great job!
A really fancy Kamayan.. I think what makes it authentic is the people. A simple spread would be rice with any kind of grilled protein (pork, chicken, seafood etc), veggies and fruits. Kamayan / boodle fight is meant to be shared. Nice vid.
So yummy! It’s been awhile but I love Kamayan! There was a restaurant that did it before Covid, but I’m not sure it’s still around. I’ll have to check!
That is best place for a formal event on the leeward side. I went to many business and private events while living in Ewa Beach. There are many Filipinos in that area and their hospitality is well known beyond the local community. . The main building is a charming Pacifica environment and beautiful location for all cultures to enjoy. I like it much better than typical Honolulu corporate rooms for rent. Thank you for adventuring out that way. I never had a bad meal with my always generous Filipinos friends.
growing up, i lived for a short time 2 or 3 yrs, in my grandma's house and she normally ate with her hands, and so did her 2 daughters, my aunties. My dad told us to eat with the fork and spoon. I used to be fascinated by the way my aunties and grandma ate and I only wished I could eat the way they did. My dad, who was born and raised in HI, did not like Filipino food. He fought in the battle of Leyte (drafted out of a Honolulu high school in 1944 into the US Army and sent to fight in the Philippines bc of his ethnicity.) He understood Visayan but did not speak it. My grandma cooked him American food while we had to eat Filipino food. After she passed away, we got to eat American food, unless my aunties visited and cooked.
Such a fun and educating video!! I never heard of Kamayan. Nice prizes too!!! That Rum bottle is pretty. Hope to be able to meet you guys at the Food Drive on the 13th 🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼 Aloha❣️❣️
Mahalo Amanda & Felix for broadening our cultural scope and sharing the Filipino festival. The food, entertainment, and folks were so cool to experience through your perspective. Sometimes you just need to eat with your hands because it makes it even more onolicious. Aloha my Ohana familia! 🤙🏽🌺🇵🇭

Kamayan means eating with your hands. I’m glad you’ve enjoyed the Filipino food served. There’s a another style of kamayan which is called “Boodle fight”. All the foods are served right in the middle and everybody would be standing in front of the foods and eating with their hands.
I love this vlog guys, I watch from beginning to end, Kamayan is also called boodle fight in the Philippines , Thank you Amanda and Felix very nice and entertaining presentation. The only menu missing is the pork BBQ and liempo and salted egg.

I loved this video. I'm a Filipino and I enjoy all these foods. My major expression of my Filipino Culture is that I train in Filipino Martial Arts. I recognize the individuals doing the demonstration of FMA. It's the Tobosa Casag School of Kali Escrima. I know them from competing against them in Tournaments. It was fun to see them. I'm glad you enjoyed this event. Salamat. Mahalo and Aloha.

Palabok needs to be mixed first with its sauce. There is a restaurant inside seafood city called ' the grill ' who serves great palabok. Kamayan simply translate to eating with your hands which food is layout on banana leaves.
Great job at highlighting an important and significant culture of Hawaii’s melting pot! It would b terrific to see the same for the other cultures and cuisines! We already know that Amanda is your Lucky Charm , so I am intrigued to see what other treasures she will win!! Side note: I thought both of you were gonna get called up to do the wooden ( bamboo?) stick dance! Great job again!!!
