I would love to have an artisan be able to help me design a bag. I have a million design ideas but I don’t sew well enough to make it happen and I can’t find the good fabrics. I like to touch the fabrics. Touching a Peak Design at REI one time is what sold me on them. I’ve never bought one new, only used and only V! But that fabric! I want to design and make a purse looking (because a purse on a woman draws less attention than a Mystery Ranch pack or something equivalent that is my preferred “purse”) bag to hold my stuff and hide my little Maltese. I have an idea but I’m not sure I can actually make it happen with my sewing skills. So I can definitely see the draw to having someone who does have both skill and materials to work with to create your own work of bag art.
Filip is the best! That said, he's at a point now where I don't know if he has time to do something extremely custom. That said, with your idea it never hurts to take it to a seamstress and make a prototype happen. My wife has a version of the bag in the video on order. She loves the idea of having her ideas be listened to and put into something real.
@@jtinseoul7041 I will probably end up giving my idea a shot just because I am curious as to wether I can pull it off or not. I just need to do more research on fabric sources. I’d like to get hardware and such from somewhere other than Joanne’s which is the local fabric store chain here.
It's definitely less noticeable, but still there. It kinda reminds me of how hard the pattern is to see on X50 Xpac. In this case, I think also since the squares are smaller it's a bit harder to see.
Mine's been sitting in customs for a month and every time I check the status I just imagine a bunch of customs officers parading around their office wearing my brick red daypack. ;)
& to add on, it was Filip himself emailed & gave me the update on the whereabouts on the bag when it was still (maybe is) transit in Germany. So yeah, he's legit.
Omg I can relate, I usually order books online and I always start imagining people reading the damn book before sending it through lol, I swear I bought a book before xmas and its still at the airport
Very jealous or am I envious? Says website, he is not available until sometime until second half of March…one can sign up… 1. As someone who depends on subways and long walks for her job, wearing a pack for many hours, would you recommend custom, more cushy straps? 2. The generic pack is 18.5” long which is too long for my torso, so I guess custom is only way to go. Did you find the bottom of the bag “hard?” Trying to avoid the Evergoods CPLv2 and CHZ22 dig into the back issue which caused bruising (Evergoods nailed it on CTB35 with lumbar happy back design. Much more padded. Sadly, too long for my torso). 3. Is he able to add a back compartment for a 13.5”laptop (not fond of having water bottle close to my tech and don’t want to add exterior pockets. I guess I could use on days with no backpack). 4. Any other recs? 5. Thanks for soldiering on!
I don't think you could carry enough in the bag for the straps to matter that much. I don't think he does external laptop compartments on this bag, but he does on some of his others. I definitely don't find this bag feels long on me. In terms of the stiffness you mentioned, this bag doesn't have a plastic frame sheet so I doubt you'd ever feel anything like on those Evergoods bags.
Ah and I forgot to say what you could probably do is have him add internal bottle pockets to keep the water from shifting around instead of the external laptop thing.
Thanks for the video, JT!
Great bag and review. Love the comparisons. Always love a Rick sighting WOOOO!
Cool Vornado fan! Slap a quick access pocket on top and the Kaidan Bullet is gonna have a run for its money.
haha. I actually don't love the quick access on that guy. It gets in the way of the laptop coming in and out. Drove me a little nuts.

have you check Hendrik Vormann FRT rucksack, that customization range looks promising
I will give him a look!
I'm so damn excited to get mine. I know he's got a deep backlog so I'm being patient buuuuuuuut this video makes it hard haha.
Thank You JT! Beautiful Bag!
Thanks man!!
Would you say the X pattern is less noticeable on the Ecopak compared to Xpac? I can barely see it in the video (or other photos online).

Complete bummer :/
Hey, mine's too ! May I know when yours was shipped? Mine has been stuck in Germany for almost 3 weeks now on route to Asia. Pretty bummed.

Great review and comparison. Thanks!
Thanks dude!
So much eye candy in the background!
How many can you name ? ;) Haha.
Nice cat! I hope you had it neutered. A cat peed on my Moab 10 bag... And getting the stink out of it was nearly impossible
that cat is so cute
She sure is! You should see her sister haha.

She's a cutie for sure! Her sister is even cuter haha.
