- Fifteen years after his first crusade to improve school meals, Jamie Oliver is again warning that too many schools are dishing out junk food, fizzy drinks and sweets, while levels of child obesity are on the rise.

His food charity Bite Back says the situation has got worse since the pandemic, with just 40% of schools meeting the standards he originally campaigned for.

In Italy the government provides 'at cost', highly nutritious, hot meals for ALL children in Italy from age 3 to the end of high school. The meals typically contain meat, vegetables, grains, yoghurt and fruit. I believe this is why Italian teenagers and adults are so attractive and healthy looking...no matter their economic status.

Seeing this stuff I'm nostalgic for the food I was fed at school. It didn't meet my mother's quality of food, but it would have done in a cheap café. It's disgusting this generation is being let down by this. If it isn't stopped, they will be outlived by their parents. It's all about money over health and welfare, absolutely shameful. 🤨😠

when I had one meal a day when I was at school which I enjoyed in the 80's I guess kids lives have not changed much since, but the school meals have because of jamie oliver who came along and ruined them for the new generation

Let's talk about how much salt and fat that is in his pasta sauce and other store products that is sold under his name, he's a hypocrite. Also school meals were ruined by him 15 years ago and now he wants to ruin school meals even more, this man craves power so much. If he is so concerned about children health, why doesn't he call for fast foods like mcdonalds, burger King and kfc to be banned because I see a lot of overweight children eating at these fast foods. I doubt school meals are attributing to childhood obesety.
I ate at a Jamie’s Italian at Gatwick Airport once. Horrendous food and service and waaaaay overpriced. Maybe not the right person to be championing for food quality.
We have a moral duty not to comply. No to discriminatory vaccine passports and mandates, it is an utter disgrace. This must not happen England.
