The food is meant to make you stupid, docile & dumb. That's what you get when you let the government raise your children. Governments have destroyed this world and convinced you that it's your neighbor. Same government that goy so many of you, to inject yourselves with a bioweapon because of a "deadly virus". The same deadily virus that's 99.7% recoverable. I have lost all respect for humanity. Such a disgrace to this beautiful planet.

The original idea for school dinners was to make sure that children had a nutritious meal.. I was in school in the 60's and 70's when we had meat and at least 2 veg and a hot pudding every day.. Everyone got the same meal, no question of choices. It wasn't cooked on-site, the cooked ingredients were delivered daily and the dinner ladies, kept it hot and served it, and we are every morsel..

You might want to start simple… make grilled cheese toasts and creamy tomato soup. You could make the tomato soup with roasted red peppers and add veggies and change it up. That is very popular in usa. You could put the Oliver Twist on it and come up with a catchy name and other ingredients. Once these kids try something that you made that they like they will be more likely to try something new that you made in the future. Also, you might want to survey the kids and find out what their favorite fruits and vegetables are and make some recipes w them instead of going in their not knowing that information. Stay strong and cook on!!

I just read that three mothers carried tons of burgers, fries and sandwiches to the school to feed children that instead of Jamie's school food.
    That'a actually insane.
One of the mothers said that no clear headed person would feed their kids junk food everyday, but then says they don't want the government to interfere in parents' affairs.
Really??... You should've fed your kids better while raising them...

I remember watching this documentary with my family as a child. It was inconceivable for me even then how kids can deliberately waste food only because there are bits of vegetables. Throwing the courgette with mozzarella off focaccia is beyond me still - what were they thinking? Mozzarella is cheese! It’s just beyond me how any human being can discard perfectly edible food when it’s well made and fresh. Will never understand that

I watched the American food revolution on tv years ago when he went to the schools here in usa. I am glad he is trying to make a difference with the kids this way in the UK. Getting kids to try new foods and eat healthier is always a good thing in my book. If anyone can come up with a creative menu to achieve this, I am sure he can. The lunchroom ladies are about time since they are serving the masses in a short period of time. he will need to come up with simple recipes that don’t take a long time to cook. Might be easier to get those ladies on board if he cooks for them what he is gonna serve to the kids for lunch maybe ahead of time. He might win a few of the lunch ladies that way if they like the taste of the food. I think a few of those ladies are resistant to change, this might help with that. Hard to say for sure.. I am looking forward to seeing how everything progresses each week. A few of those kids said they wanted to try some new things for lunch. If he can win a few of those kids over then more of the other kids may try some of his lunches if their friends said they were flavorful. Jamie is probably my favorite chef due to his down to earth nature. I still watch some of his old cooking shows on dabl. I am looking forward to each week and seeing how it goes.

Thank you Jamie for trying to make the world a better place. Healthy eating habits start at home. When you feed children healthy food (and you don’t have to be wealthy) they grow up wanting healthy food. If you don’t have junk food in the house, they won’t crave it. They will crave real food. You need to teach your children to cook so they know where the food comes from. Cooking/nutrition should be a mandatory class in school at an early age. After all, proper food feeds the body, especially the brain.

You know with the kids you might just need to make some recipes that include veggies that are hidden in the recipe. Be creative!! The CONCEPT is good, but the execution/delivery of the meals is IMPOSSIBLE in real time. A school would need 10-20 cooks to deliver 500-600 lunches in the span of 2 hours. This is why Jamie failed during this documentary. He thought school kitchens worked like restaurant kitchens. You're not serving 45 tables (125 people) over 5 hours. Kids have more sensitive taste buds, it takes them a while to build up to vegetables that, to them, can taste quite bitter

Please…our 1 year old eats fruit and veg just fine. There shouldn’t be any “build up” if kids are brought up with good eating habits to begin with. There’s no excuses - just lazy parents.

@@wickywills not all children are the same. I used to gag as a child and retch with vegetables. I had to build up slowly as I grew older. Now I love all veg and salad but it took years

I remember the one he did in the U.S. Finally someone brought to light the deplorable food being served to the kids. And yes, don't like it then they can bring their own. However, we pay for the food with our tax funds AND/OR there are children who unfortunately don't have food at home. So, no matter what, there is no excuse for the disgusting and unhealthy food being served in public schools.

Most of the kids in that secondary school are now in their late 20’s and early 30’s. As a generation we’re actually reasonably adventurous with food. We like our food to have lots of flavour as sadly we were exposed to all those nasty chemicals growing up but we will never forgive Jamie for taking away the Turkey Twizzler. ALSO At home I ate healthy and had a balanced diet and am a fan of vegetables. But the chemical laden school food switched my preference to junk food something I still struggle with today. If given a choice it’s harder for me to resist pizza over a healthier focaccia

It’s all very well blaming the school for doing cheap bad unhealthy food and saying the kids won’t eat the healthy food because it has vegetables in it, but I can’t help but wonder what those same kids are being fed at home. Do their parents not fed them healthy food ? When I was growing up my parents always made sure there was vegetables with our meals and we had to eat them or no dessert. Sure just like anyone else I liked the unhealthy food from time to time but but that was always seen as a treat not the norm.
